I had a wonderful time here! I was very impressed with how clean it is and the staff were very nice and definitely expert at their work. Due to an injury, I can not bend and decided to get a pedicure. I had only had 1 as a gift in the past. They have a wide selection of options and colors. I chose to go for a bit of pampering and did the deluxe mani-pedi. The hot stone massage was amazing, and the paraffin treatment I can still feel today! This was my first time getting my nails done in the midcoast area, I saw that Elizabeth Nails Spa was decently reviewed, and had won an award for being the best in the area for over 10 years in a row so it seemed like a solid choice. They have an online booking system so I submitted an appointment request for that day. I got a text from the service saying the shop would get back to me to confirm if they could fit me in. They never called. I ended up calling and confirmed they could see me, there was no indication that they ever intended to call to confirm. When I got there, it's your standard, semi run down salon, the building had recently been renovated and I think they were still working on totally setting up. From the beginning, they tried to upsell me. I asked for my previous gel manicure to be removed, she broke the seal on the old ones with the Dremel and then wrapped them to soak in the acetone. When done, she then proceeded to take off all of the old gel with the Dremel. I have never had a nail tech do it that way, I'm used to them using a non powered metal tool to scrape the rest of the old gel from my nail, she also never had me wash my hands after crating all the dust and using the cuticle cream. After removing my old polish she asked me how short I wanted my nails but not what shape, and then didn't cut them as short as I had asked (a few times). She barely talked to me the whole time, including not giving me instructions, she just expected me to know what she wanted me to do, and when she wanted me to do it. She did occasionally speak to her coworkers and other clients. The shop was not busy but she did a very hasty job on my nails. They came out super bumpy, polish edges too close to the cuticle, cut /filed crookedly, and she sealed some of the ends of my nails to my fingertips. Oh and they also were aggressive enough in the upsell that I did get a paraffin wrap which was actually kind of nice. When paying, they offered me a discount if I paid in cash which I didn't have. The edges started lifting quickly and they were catching on things by the end of the day. I had to pick some of it off to stop this from happening. Not wanting to go back, about a week later, when they were really lifting, I took them off myself. To my horror, I found that when she used the Dremel to remove the old polish, she had destroyed my nail beds. There are deep ridges exactly where the edges of my nails would have been when she did the manicure and many other deep marks from the Dremel. I feel like half of the bad polish job was related to the nail bed being so uneven when she was done with the Dremel and the other half was how she just really glopped it on there and didn't try to smooth it out. I'm really not sure how this salon has won an award for as long as it has. I cannot recommend it and will never go back. read more

I came to Elizabeth Nails after just moving to the area and looking for a new spot. I saw they offer biab and was very excited. I called and they were able to get me in same day at my preferred time. They were friendly and the salon was clean and a nice atmosphere. They also gave me a holiday gift, and that is why I'm giving two stars and not one. Besides that- during the biab manicure, my nails were not filed or shaped at all. I wasn't asked if I'd like to skip out on that either. Once the application process began, I noticed that the nail tech was not doing the method I'd seen done many times on me before by many other techs and in my research on biab. I thought maybe there was just another way to apply it. After going back and forth on some designs, she was unable to paint stars for me, so we opted for silver frenchies. Despite no shaping, I loved my nails when I left, and voiced I'd be returning. My main issue lies in the 13 days following my appointment. Biab is meant to last up to four weeks. Within about a week, mine began to lift. Around 10 days, it began to peel off. Yesterday, 13 days after getting the manicure, my thumb nail has completely peeled off. If there's one thing about biab, it is definitely NOT supposed to be able to peel off your nail. It usually requires filing or drilling to remove. I'm extremely disappointed as I feel like I got jipped into paying twice as much for a gel manicure. I used to come here all the time and am finally DONE! As others have mentioned they have been inconsistent in the past year and now just consistently horrible. They don't care, pedicures (even deluxe) take 20 minutes and they don't even do everything they say they will do. They charge you extra to "manicure" your nails during manicures .... How that works, I'm baffled. They up charge you for absolutely everything and don't tell you. Something that should be $35 somehow ends up being $70 and you did nothing special. They are rated Best of the Best for ten years. Who is voting for them? They used to be good but have gone completely downhill. I needed a mani/pedi in a pinch, so I looked at local places in the area where I was running errands and Elizabeth's came up. Reviews were mixed, but I decided to give it a try. The place was in the underground portion of the Tontine Mall...the place looked rough. Like some other reviewer's noted, the salon was not super clean. I did notice that they had packaged tools that were sterilized. They tried to upsell me and every other person in the salon multiple times. Do you want gel? Do you want flower art on your toenails? Would you like the deluxe pedicure? It was pretty annoying and I could tell other customers were uneasy with the hard sell. My manicure is already starting to chip a few days later. As many other reviewers have said everything felt really really rushed. Turn and burn. When it came time to pay, they urged everyone to use cash at their ATM, stating it only charged a dollar. However I know that banks also charge you to use foreign ATMs. They claimed that they preferred this and they would charge a % if customers used a credit card. I initially decided to oblige and went to the ATM and it said it would only let me take out $60 max and my nails had been close to $100. I ended up paying using my credit card, however, I did not see an extra % charged. I assume they own the ATM and will collect the dollar from everyone that got cash that day too. DO NOT GO! Worst nails salon I've ever been to. They did my Dip nails in the pedicure chair... drilled them off without soaking. (I asked them to soak repeatedly) they would soak for a quick second and then keep drilling. They cut my skin twice and used the drill on my cuticles...They look terrible, you can see the previous color beneath the french polish. Pedicure was rushed and polish is awful. Literally crooked white lines on the french. Had to ask them to fix twice... still crooked. Didn't use any 2nd color for my French (like a pink or white) just used clear topcoat over the crooked white strip. I should have walked it but I was flying out the next morning. Awful! I'm still in shock about how horrible this place is. I brought my daughter with her two friends for her 10th birthday. I looked online and saw it cost $35 dollars for a mani/pedi for kids. That was perfect. I knew they would get designs as well. That would be $10 extra so $45 dollars total. Also fine! When we get there, they tell us that the nail polish with the silver caps are better for the girl's nails. I thanked them and I tell the girls to grab the ones with the silver caps. The woman shows me the menu. It clearly shows $35 dollars for mani/pedi and $40 for a Princess Combo (whatever that is). The woman immediately starts to try and upsell me. She says I should chose the $50 dollar one because it comes with hot stones. Um, this is my daughter's first time. There was no need for that. I kindly declined. She said, "OK, then you pay $40 dollars." I was confused but agreed thinking it would be this special Princess Combo. NOTHING WAS SPECIAL ABOUT THIS! They have one person doing the girl's toes and another doing the girl's fingernails at the same time. You could tell they were rushing. Which was weird because our appointments were for 5:30pm and they weren't closing until 7:00pm. They were done with all 3 in 30 minutes. Still trying to figure out what was "princess" about this experience. The woman came and asked me how I was paying. I said I had cash for the tip but a card for the service. She said there are ATM's outside and I should go get cash. I get it, cash is better for small businesses. So, I asked her what the total was so I could grab that amount. She tells me $170 dollars. I'm just staring at her in shock and confusion trying to do the math in my head. I ask her again whatever thing costs. She tells me the nail polish they chose was extra. They chose?! She says fine we will charge you $141. The woman proceeds to escort me outside to show me where the ATM was. She points ACROSS THE STREET! I have 3 young girls sitting in this place. I'm not leaving them to walk across 4 lanes of traffic so that I can give these people cash. She then points me to the closer ATM at Camden National Bank. I'm beyond mad. I try the ATM and it's broken. I come back to tell them. Since I'm not paying in cash, my grand total is now 154.50 which I put on my card. Now, to add insult to injury. They didn't give two of the girls flip flops and had them walk across the gross floor to the drying station with nothing on their feet. Whoever, did my daughters did put hers on. After they get out to the drying station, all but one employee ran out of there despite the fact that they were still open. The remaining employee was extremely rude. She told me the girls needed to walk out with the flip flops and not put on their shoes. That's fine. I asked her, then can I get flip flops for the other two? She gives me attitude!! What a horrible experience for my daughter, her friends and me. It was my daughter's first time ever having a mani/pedi and what I thought was going to be special evening was an absolute disaster. My wife and I called and asked if they had time on a Saturday afternoon and were told to come by in 30 minutes which is apparently their default to every single person who calls or pops by. They pushed us and everybody else who came in for up=sells on paint, services, etc. and were aggressive towards anyone who wanted to pay with a card. One woman eventually just said "charge me whatever you want, I'm not going back outside to try and find an ATM" so they charged her $115 instead of the $95 that she had been quoted. Overall, we were in the salon for almost two hours and had less than 20 minutes of actual time with any nail tech. Our nails were not trimmed, buffed, or dried. I got a shellac manicure on Thursday, the younger guy who did my nails was extremely nice. He was working really fast, but I thought he was doing a good job. Once I left I saw that the shellac was all over my cuticles, so I knew it was a matter of time before they would start to peel because the edges of the shellac were adhered to my skin. On Saturday I was blow drying my hair and my hair got stuck under the shellac on my cuticle, and ripped up the shellac. I had family in town visiting, so I didn't have the chance to get back uptown until Monday. I stopped in the The salon while my family was shopping around Brunswick before we headed to Freeport. I kindly told them that I was not happy with my shellac manicure, and showed her how the shellac was on my cuticles. She told me that they could only fix it right then. Then I said that I had hoped that they could give me a voucher or credit to come back another day for a shellac manicure, and she said "no." It had paraffin, hot stones and a massage. It was not a two minute deal. It was so relaxing and warm. I was offered a beverage, a massage chair and told about all of my options. I got my old acrylics off and new ones on. I called ahead to make sure they could take me as it was about an hour before closing, got in right away. I asked for the colors to look at 3 times before getting an answer. They started my friend and didn't start me i til I asked why I was waiting. They used a hard file which is used to take off the top layer only. She went SO hard, so fast, she filed my natural nail under 3 layers of shellac. It hurt! When I asked her to stop she argued with me that it would "take longer" if she didn't do that. I explained I didn't mind and would pay very well for her to take her time and not rush. I waited 30 min for her to come back over and tell me she couldn't scrape the polish off and asked to use her own nail to do so. Ummm no! Ew. I then picked up the tool and showed her that it could very easily be done if you use the tool correctly. Which I demonstrated. After the experience I had a month ago, I'm never going back! $50 for a mani-pedi that isn't done well is way too much. I even asked the man doing my fingernails if he could go further down toward the cuticle (he was doing them double speed, like he had somewhere better to be), and he basically yelled at me that he had no idea what I was talking about. I do not live in Brunswick but I had an appointment in the area and needed my nails done. I searched around Yelp for a salon that does dip nails (sns) whatever you prefer to call it. I came across Elizabeth Nails Spa. I came in as a walk in and they took me right away. At the time I came in, there were no other customers in the salon, which was perfect for me. Then, later on, a few other customers trickled in. There was peaceful spa style music playing. There were some pretty overhead hanging lights. The salon has a huge variety of nail polish colors, and a good collection of dip powder colors as well. The price charged for the service was reasonable compared to what I normally pay for dip. The technician that did my nails...I'm not sure of his name... but he was the fatest to ever do my dip...after taking off my old dip, it only took him 25 minutes from start to finish, which is incredibly fast considering it normally takes between 40 min to an hr to complete at other salons. I was relieved that he was SO fast because I had to get to work afterwards, so that was fantastic! On the otherhand, he missed a coat of dip on one finger after putting the clear adhesive on, so I had to let him know, and he missed one coat of topcoat on one of my fingers, but I just let it go because it already had one coat on. So all in all, I would go back here, however the rushing did make for some careless misteps. read more
