We had pedicure appointments at 10 am on a Sunday morning and the salon was full except for the two chairs reserved for us. We made appointments here because my friend had heard good things and I was happy we did--I doubt we would have gotten in otherwise. We were greeted promptly and our chairs were prepared as we were choosing our colors. There was a positive, friendly vibe with the mail technicians and other customers. The salon itself was clean and the nail technicians did a neat and thorough job which included hot towels, leg massage, etc. We were there for an hour, start to finish, including drying. Got a pedicure here the other day. The service was great and the everyone was super nice. They did a really good job on my toe nail polish. It was clean and you get a little massage as well. The only suggestion I have is that my heals are always pretty bad and they don't scrape them like other places I have been. That really helps clean up my heals so I wish they did it at that place. Months after rating Apsara a 4, I'm giving them a 5 because they've become my go to nail salon! I've even turned a couple of my friends onto becoming regulars. Sunny is THE BOMB at nail art if that's your thing, but EVERYONE on staff is super friendly. Dan always does all the acrylics and does a fantastic job at that. I've never been turned away for a walk in (although it does happen once in awhile, they get busy). Everyone is always so friendly. Anytime I go anywhere else in town, I wish I had gone to Apsara. I have been exploring the East Deering area, as we recently moved. I noticed Apsara, and on a nice weekend afternoon, decided that I would take a walk up the street and get a gel manicure. The salon was very clean, and I couldn't tell you the name of the young lady that did my mani, but she was oh so friendly and took her time! I hate it when salons rush through, and this one doesn't. They had a great variety of colors, and opi collections for the upcoming fall season. Nothing beats a fresh jar of nail polish! So, why the four stars? Well, one of my gems chipped the first night of getting my mani..I cut the nail down and fixed it myself, no biggie. My no-chip manicures last 2-3 weeks consistently and I occasionally request some nail art, which always turns out great. They have LOTS of nail polish color options, too! They reuse tools that are not sanitized, it looks like they are taking them out of a fresh autoclave bag but my technician just took them out of a bag that was already open. She also totally over cut my cuticles. I should have just walked out when I saw the condition of this place. I honestly feel like I dodged a bullet that I didn't get some kind of fungus or infection. I can't believe I've never gone here. After today's mani/pedi...this is my place! Parking lot always has plenty of spaces so that's a good start. I was IMPRESSED with the color selection here. Not only did they have every possible shade imaginable, but their products weren't old, chunky, nasty nail polish. The actual mani/pedi was among the best if the best I've gotten...EVER. I grew up in Los Angeles with lots of nail salon options and this place topped those. My feet were really in dire need of a good pumice rock scrub (running, tennis, and sandals have been drying my skin out). As someone who recently moved to "this side" of Portland, I was looking for a go-to nail place that was clean and I felt comfortable - and I found it! First of all, when you become a repeat client, you receive your own box of nail tools (files, etc.) that are kept at the salon. You can be sure that everything is sanitary as they will use your tools on you only! The quality for the price at Apsara is unbeatable, and the staff is friendly. When I choose to add-on a service, they do not complain or huff and puff (as most places do) and are happy to help. Not only are they friendly and clean, but Annie and the girls make you feel like they are your best friends. The are very attentive to your needs and requests. Take their time and very thorough when doing manis and pedis. I see Sonny, and every time I go in she greets me with a giant smile, remembers my name and remembers the conversation we had previously. I hate to give 2 stars, but the caption says it perfectly "Meh. I've experienced better." I came here recently after my nail tech at the salon I usually frequent had to go out on pregnancy leave. I don't know if I'm just spoiled because my usual nail salon is so awesome, but this place left me feeling very "meh." I mean, they got the job done, and the quality of the manicure was ok, but it did not last as long as they usually last where I typically go, started peeling about a week after the manicure and the nail technician was so rough with me that she made my cuticle actually bleed. It seems very assembly line like here, and when you walk in it so does not feel relaxing in any way. The stations are kind of strewed across the middle of the store, and it's hard to tell where customers are allowed to be within the store. No clear paths anywhere, very cluttered, and decor is pretty old. They do have a good selection of nail colors, and the were very nice, but being nice and having a lot of colors doesn't change my overall feeling about this place. I won't be back again nor would I recommend this place to a friend. Needs a facelift for sure. read more

The callous removal, the massage, and the quality of the nail services are great! Very reasonable price. I got a gel French manicure, and I was looking for a more natural look. Thida was so accommodating, letting me check the colors of my toenails and French tips and pink gloss before committing, so I'd know exactly what to expect. She got it absolutely correct! Very happy with the perfect, relaxing mani-pedi and wonderful service here! This was one of the few places in the Portland area that was able to fit me in very last minute for a mani-pedi (I'm used to NYC, where you can basically walk-in at any hour). I'm also used to the efficiency, speed, and execution of nails of NYC, and this has been the only mani-pedi I've had in Maine that even compares - dare I say, even exceeds. They do have a lot of volume, so if you go during the lunch rush you may wait a bit, as I did. But they made me very comfortable, and a small wait to me is absolutely worth knowing that 1) they are busy so they must be fantastic 2) they are taking care and quality time with each of their clients 3) they even took extra care to get me out in time for my flight, one person on feet and one on nails at the same time.
