I had stopped going to LA Nails and started going to another salon in Yarmouth but couldn't remember why. I was picking some things up at Hannaford and thought I'd give it another try. I'm writing this review to be sure I remember not to return. This is a large shop with approximately 18 pedi chairs and around a dozen or so manicure chairs. I should have known this was not a good place when I walked in on a Saturday morning and they were able to take me right away because there were only two other parties in the place, and there were 5 or so nail technicians sitting in pedicure chairs in the back, talking. I was seated and the nail technician began my pedicure right away. She seemed like she was in a rush and cut the skin on my toes too short, to the point of pain in several places. The scariest part was the really old, dirty nail brush she used on my feet, bristles splayed and all. Honestly, with the combination of these two things, I will consider myself lucky if I don't end up with a resulting medical problem. Needless to say, this was not a relaxing experience. To make matters worse, the nail techs in the back continued to carry on loudly the entire time I was there, with the nail technician doing my pedicure loudly chiming in over her shoulder from time to time. They do not apparently have a dryer, so while waiting for my nails to dry, I continued to listen to the loud carrying on the entire time. Then one more time, while paying for the pedicure, the nail tech shouted beyond me, to the nail techs in the back. Painful pedicure, dirty nail brush, terrible service. Disappointing. I have gone to LA Nails for a long time for manicures and pedicures but have decided to move on. The pedicure seats are peeling and the massage features don't work. It doesn't seem super clean. The pillows on some of the chairs are stained. The last time I had my nails done, I had to come back 3x to get the tips fixed because they kept popping off. I finally decided to try a different local salon. It was spotless. I was offered a drink when I sat down in the amazing massage chair. My pedicure was a solid 45 minutes and including a scrub and warm towels. I paid the same price as I do at LA Nails. It is just not worth spending my money at LA Nails for subpar experience. read more

Okay - normally I don't like to review a place after one visit. But I know I won't return here. And I was just that disappointed. The pros - I was able to walk in without an appointment which these days is challenging in most places. Also, they have duos of nail polish in both the gel and regular. This is great when you want regular polish on your toes but gel on your hands. The colors match - not just are close. The cons - I paid $62 for a mani and pedi (before tip) and was in and out in less than an hour. Pedicures alone should be 35-45 minutes. The real kicker was that when she did my hands, she finished the gel polish and was done. There was no lotion applied or massage. I've never had that happen in the 20+ years I've been getting nail services. Furthermore - a regular client came in while she was doing my nails and it felt as though she just wanted to be done with me to move in to this person. That's great that you value your regulars so much - but after my experience, I certainly won't be becoming one. read more

horrible service. the lady was rude didn't let me explain what I wanted. cut my nails so short. had my nails filled and ready to paint in 10 minutes. I should have just stopped at that point. then made them so thick. and when I tried telling her she only got more upset. I had a simple French manicure style. when I continued to show her how thick they were she blamed me for wanting an extra base coat. DO NOT come here. it was a simple fill and you are treated like crap when you ask for a correction. I'm not picky about my nails. I don't expect perfection thin but I do expect to get what I'm paying for and then charged me $55. I don't mind paying a lot I just wish it was done correctly. read more

Not the best, not the worst. Taken promptly for our 4:00 pedi appts, which is uncommon. Mediocre regular polish selection, old colors and off brands. Even some Sally Hansen polish. The girls are extremely chatty (loouuud) with each other which makes it kinda hard to relax, but nice enough. My sister left with a bleeding toe. It's 4:23 and I'm already done getting my pedicure as I write this review. Salon is clean for the most part, but they use old worn in pumice stones and the floors could use a good mopping. If you're in a rush this place is okay but don't plan on getting a pampering experience. read more

They do not follow proper hygiene standards - contaminated hands straight into the the sugar scrub jars, multi-use files, buffers, exfoliating pads. My nails are all unevenly shaped and the polish is chipped after 6 hours. They did a good job trimming my cuticles without being overly aggressive though. I used to love coming here. I only saw one lady, because I've found she was the best. Here are a couple of my most recent interactions: Last month I called the day before to make an appointment for the next morning. I show up a little before my appointment, and the nail tech wasn't even there. I asked when she would be there, but they said they didn't know. So I waited over an hour, and finally just walked out. Today I went in, and had to wait a half hour (bring a good book because you'll find your waiting time is longer than actually any service you receive). First, my nails on my left hand are shorter than my right hand. Second, they charged me $35 (not including tip) for a CHILDS manicure. The technician worked on the manicure and did someone else's pedicure at the same time. She literally soaked my daughters fingers, and painted them. How is that worth $35?? This place is expensive. I don't mind paying good money for good service, but the service is just terrible. So over this place. read more

Terrible service. Went in for a simple manicure and pedicure. Didn't want or ask for gel coating. I said it over and over again. When the manicurist started to do my nails paid no attention to what I wanted put on gel polish even though I said no then acted like it was my fault. Ruined my natural nails. Charged me for gel. me and my friend went in to get our nails done for a trip. we went in with high hopes and were disappointed right off the bat. not only did our colors turn out dull and misinterpreted but meanwhile there service was nothing far from terrible. several snarky and snotty comments both to our faces and behind our backs. luckily my friend understood the language they were speaking and was UNFORTUNATELY able to translate their harsh words. we decided not to tolerate and went in a second time in hopes to either get a refund or get repainted. they refused a refund and instead we got a free repaint. i'd say just being able to get it redone was the highlight of our experience. if you are looking for a quality product and experience, you will NOT find that here. I have given this a few tries now but $36 for a broken chair, Luke warm water, dingy steam towels and a 4 minute rub? My toe polish is all over my surrounding skin and when I asked for some water I was given a Dixie cup. Too many options to waste my money on this salon again even though it was convenient. read more

Lived in Maine for three years now - and finally - had a really great pedicure! Best one since I've been here - and I'm really picky. I have really bad callouses on my heels and no place can ever fully take them off, even when using the grader. They used a razor here and it cost an additional $5 but they did such a great job and got everything. The prices and color selection are good, the place is clean and the staff was friendly. Too bad it is an hour away from where I live! But, I will be back. Thanks again Yelpers! You never disappoint. read more

I came here for the first time this morning and was pleased with how clean and how friendly the staff was. The only complaint I have is that my friend and I waited for almost an hour, however, they seemed short staffed and fairly busy, so I had no problem with waiting. Me, my mom, and my boyfriend all went in for pedicures and from the second we walked in we were greeted by everyone and taken immediately for our appt. During our pedicures they asked if we wanted manicures and my mom and I said sure why not! And from the pedi to the mani, everything was perfect and relaxing. Adding one more five star review to the line-up for this spot. Walked in mid afternoon last Saturday expecting either the typical rushed frenzy you see at that time in nail salons, or a wait. I had neither- instead was ushered right to a chair. So many positives here: spotlessly clean everywhere in the salon; it has a really basic, clean decor (not cluttered); tv's are muted and music is soft, hard to find these days in a noisy world, and the techs are A+. Mine was a young man who worked efficiently but without making me feel rushed, and who really knew his stuff- ended up with one of the best pedicures I've ever had. Best of all, I didn't even realize until I got home that not once was I badgered with an upsell, and they let me sit for 25+ mins under the dryers reading without anyone trying to rush me or approaching for payment. Practically unheard of in my past experience with more urban nail salons. When I checked out with payment, the owner or manager simply asked if I lived nearby, and encouraged me to come back. We just moved to the area and gave this place a try today! It was fantastic:) I don't get pedicures or manicures often. I got a LA spa pedicure. Also a shellac manicure. They were attentive, friendly, kind, thorough and really reasonably priced. My feet feel and look great. My fingernails as well. I will be returning for sure. read more

I have only written two poor reviews in my life. Unfortunately they have both been for LA Nails. You may ask why I went there again after the first negative review (which was a year ago). It was due to a desperate need for a pedicure prior to a vacation and it was the only salon in the area that had availability. They came over with a menu of pedicures and I said just a regular - which they said was a number 1. When I went to pay, it was $36. I asked when they went up from $25 and the girl said it was because I picked a number 1. I asked if there were cheaper pedicures than those on the menu and she said "oh yes". What a scam. I know they need to pay for their expansion but this is not the way. And here's the kicker. Even though my friend and I chatted and dried for half an hour, one of my toes had a huge gash in it the next morning. When I went back and explained, they said "go find the color". Really? It was a shade of maroon - of which they have about 30. The first person just walked away and said "we'll fix it when you find the color." A young man came out and I begged for help. He at least tried but he picked the wrong one and I had to have all nails painted again and a new top coat. Truly next tine I'll go on vacation without a pedicure if LA Nails is the only option. read more

Horrible experience here! Went once before and it was okay, but tonight was absolutely a joke. My "pedicure" consisted of soaking my feet for a while, trimming two toe nails, rubbing some of the scrub stuff on me and calling it a day. No cuticle removal, no massage, didn't even bother to put lotion on me. When I asked her what kind of callus removal they could do, she kept telling me no, that my feet were fine. The bottom of both my feet is peeling, so I wanted something done for it but apparently that was too much trouble. Then when she did my manicure, again no massage, no lotion and she did a terrible job shaping my nails - even left a big chunk cut out of one of them, and several were totally crooked. When I spoke to the owner, she told me she'd fix it but then acted annoyed that I didn't have time to stay any longer. No apology, and no offer to discount the cost - they still charged me full price for way less than half a job. I'll never go back, and you shouldn't either. read more
