First impressions, I thought the salon was clean and rather small. They had 4 techs working and they were all busy when I came in but I didn't mind waiting. I showed my nail tech an inspo pic and let her know that I wanted square round nails and she got to work as soon as she was free. When she was working on my nails, another customer came in asking to get her eyebrows waxed. My nail tech stopped mid service when she was working on my nails to wax her eyebrows. I am patient so again, I didn't mind waiting however I could tell that the tech felt rushed and stressed. I'm not sure if this is the norm here but the tech only trimmed my nails before applying the dip powder but did not clean up my cuticles or trim any hangnails. Also, when she was filing down the dip, she cut 3 of my fingers which stung. I understand that she had another customer waiting on her but I don't think it was appropriate for her to rush through my service.

I've been coming here for several years off and on and usually leave happy, but as if the infection wasn't bad enough.... The customer service has really gone downhill. It appears a bit messy up at the front & crowded at the desk with girls just hanging out. Their technicians (never the same) seem unsure& timid, and there is usually a lack of communication between the front desk and the technician that I have to clarify repeatedly, even though the only thing I ever get is a simple, classic mani no polish, buff and go; and maybe a basic gel pedicure. The prices also went up by at least $10 a service overnight, once the name switched. Previously, I had a $100 gift card from NOA that they would not honor. Why not? I understand ownership changed, but to not honor past gift cards for longer doesn't bode well for established clients. Another time, back in May , I was told the wait would be over 45 minutes for a mani, even though that area appeared completely empty. Ok - so I walked back out and across the street to Blush Salon and got a lovely manicure right away. I don't expect I'll be returning to Genova any time soon.

However, as I was leaving today, I noticed I hadn't received a receipt so I asked for one. When I got to my car and reviewed it, I saw I had been charged an extra $10 for a "nail fix." That was confusing to me because I came in for a builder gel set on my real nails and they had done my previous set as well. I went back inside to ask about it and was told by the manager that the charge was because I had partially removed the gel from two of my nails. I explained that the gel had started peeling after two weeks, so I removed part of it myself this morning knowing I was going to come get them fixed after work today. My main concern is not necessarily the $10 itself, but the lack of transparency. Three different employees assisted me today between my pedicure and gel set and at no point was I informed there would be an additional charge. When I asked why no one thought to alert me, I was told they "thought I knew." Very odd response for it only being my 3rd time. I was initially excited to find a new nail salon that provided good service and transparent pricing, but adding charges without communicating them beforehand (and then making excuses for the lack of communication) makes me reconsider returning

She's also just the sweetest lady and truly exudes joy -- I always look forward to seeing her! Hein is hands-down the best nail tech I've ever had. She knows her way around every nail shape and style and always gives the best recommendations for what will look most flattering on your hands. She added on all these extra fees, plus my refill then turned into a full set. When I was finished, I went to the register and explained the situation to the front desk worker. The lady who did my nails proceeded to say that my nails were lifting, and she told me beforehand that I needed a full set; neither of these things were true. She then raised her voice at me while I calmly told her that it was not right for her to remove the nails without telling me of a new charge. There was hardly a solution, $10 dollars was taken off my visit. I have never paid $120 for a refill + shellac color change. I do not recommend this salon the slightest bit. They were also slow and seem to be understaffed.
