First impressions, I thought the salon was clean and rather small. They had 4 techs working and they were all busy when I came in but I didn't mind waiting. I showed my nail tech an inspo pic and let her know that I wanted square round nails and she got to work as soon as she was free. When she was working on my nails, another customer came in asking to get her eyebrows waxed. My nail tech stopped mid service when she was working on my nails to wax her eyebrows. I am patient so again, I didn't mind waiting however I could tell that the tech felt rushed and stressed. I'm not sure if this is the norm here but the tech only trimmed my nails before applying the dip powder but did not clean up my cuticles or trim any hangnails. Also, when she was filing down the dip, she cut 3 of my fingers which stung. I understand that she had another customer waiting on her but I don't think it was appropriate for her to rush through my service.

I was blown away by how busy they were on a random Thursday! (In a great way) I had to wait a few minutes but not long at all! The manager, Kevin, swept in and told me he'd be taking care of me because he didn't want me waiting any longer. Little did I know, that he would make my first time back so special and one I'll never forget. Kevin and his nail technicians made me feel so welcomed, so relaxed, so comfortable- everyone was really kind and adamant on taking care of not just me, but everyone at the salon. Knowing that Kevin was the owner and already feeling so comfortable- I immediately trusted him in what I envisioned for my nails. I showed Kevin a photo of the simple almond shaped nails I wanted- He said he could do those easily and quickly to get me in and out of there! He did so and in fact, 1000 times better than what I asked for. My nails looked exactly like the photo. Kevin knows what he's doing - He went on to chat with me during my appointment, tell me about his business, and even show me the tools and equipment they use at the shop that are HIS OWN BRAND I was blown away and felt honored to be getting my nails done by the OWNER himself Especially due to the fact he doesn't usually work on clients himself and is more so focused on running the business + providing support to his nail technicians as a whole. Needless to say, I reassured Kevin I'd be back and I couldn't thank him enough for the nails he blessed me with in SUCH a short amount of time. Kevin and every one of his nail techs at Nails of America Memorial, knows exactly what they are doing and will make sure your experience is incredible each and every time you visit them. We came in and entered with the sign outside saying Nails of America, no notices or signs about change in ownership. We received our services and went to pay with our gift cards. At that time, I was told they could no longer accept our gift cards because they had changed ownership. I referenced the sign on the door and they told me I should have checked Google. I can walk there, why would I check Google? We went round and round. They asked if I had receipts for the gift cards that people had given my daughter. Ultimately I paid and left. I shared this info with my friends and multiple people have been able to use their nails of America gift cards since then. So I called today to try and see if they wanted to make it right. When the person that answered the phone did all she could do, I asked to speak to a manager. The manager told me she was so very sorry but they could not accept my gift cards. I explained the entire situation and told her that they are not consistent and have not changed their signs or posted any notices that they are under new ownership. The fact that I was refused and two friends had different results in the same week is horrible. The manager then told me that they have made two complete staff changes since then so she had no control over it. This business has horrific unethical business practices and will not survive in this area if they aren't going to be customer service focused and replace entire staff twice in two months. They cannot possibly keep quality technicians and cleanliness for long with this type of management. Join me in avoiding this horrible business. There are many other ethical salons to try.

However, as I was leaving today, I noticed I hadn't received a receipt so I asked for one. When I got to my car and reviewed it, I saw I had been charged an extra $10 for a "nail fix." That was confusing to me because I came in for a builder gel set on my real nails and they had done my previous set as well. I went back inside to ask about it and was told by the manager that the charge was because I had partially removed the gel from two of my nails. I explained that the gel had started peeling after two weeks, so I removed part of it myself this morning knowing I was going to come get them fixed after work today. My main concern is not necessarily the $10 itself, but the lack of transparency. Three different employees assisted me today between my pedicure and gel set and at no point was I informed there would be an additional charge. When I asked why no one thought to alert me, I was told they "thought I knew." Very odd response for it only being my 3rd time. I was initially excited to find a new nail salon that provided good service and transparent pricing, but adding charges without communicating them beforehand (and then making excuses for the lack of communication) makes me reconsider returning

I did a chrome color - pricing was not disclosed prior to me choosing the Chrome either (Beware any add-on is charged. You are basically nickel and dimmed for every choice. My pedicure became an easy $100. Onto the quality of my nails. The quality was horrendous. The tech did not go all the way down to the cuticles so my fresh nails with a brand "new set" (I don't use tips and still got charged for a full set ) it looked like they were already a week old. After having the tech redo them to fix her mistake, they still look like shit. The tips of my nails are missing chunks of chrome. I'm not willing to walk back in there because this manicure and pedicure became an easy $215. I have never in my life paid that much for a simple pedicure and nail set. We came to Houston to try something new and expected it to be a little pricier, but I did not expect to give away my first born child. Nor did I expect to leave completely unsatisfied.
