We are picky & have been nail shop hoppin! I am mostly motivated to write this due to our surprise positive experience. VERY VERY impressed & very happy daughter. Came to Nail Design bc it's close to her new school, we rarely made it to this side of the hood before, (East Escondido) and of course the price. We kept spending money at mediocre up to fancier salons and have been disappointed most of the time, aside from the a spot on Grand. Anyway I had seen the window ad w/ their prices a few times, finally looked up Yelp reviews- & decided nah, prices were to good to be great, & yelpers mostly said nah- so why waste $?!? Then this last Sat. She needed to get in so I thought we would be less disappointed if we weren't spending high $. So decided we would try them once if they had an appointment. They had 1 opening at that time, I had my dh take it since she had an event. Soooo glad we gave Nail Design a chance!!! Oh & I gotta say my daughter is not easily impressed, & she gets obsessed w/looking at & picking at every tiny detail. When I saw her walking out I could see a pep in her step. PERFECT, beautiful shape, every nail smooth, even, & NOT thick! My dh really liked her nail tech, Linda was her name- She listened to what she wanted, she asked & checked in with her, she took her time without being slow, she joked with her & made her comfortable. Quality can not be compromised for the low prices. Our experience so far has been excellent. I'll try to get pics up & Ill be going myself for an appointment soon. read more

Linda designed my nails so beautifully! She's my go to, she's such a very sweet person and enjoys what she does. Very patient & takes her time to make sure you're getting what you want. This place takes all the COVID precautions as well. Prices are very good! Highly recommend! read more

Took the granny here, to have her nails done. Staff are extremly rude, they get mad if your too early (even if you dont mind waiting). They also get mad, if your a few minutes late. To sum things up, rude, rude, rude!! Plenty of parking in the back, but not much directly in front of the store. Burger king and Pizza (pizza Hut, from what I remember), are near by, if you get hungry. read more

Yelp needs a negative stars option. This little shop of horrors was a mistake from the moment I entered the shop. Oh, I know you're thinking 'Why'd you stay?' Honestly, I was sucked in by a $10 pedicure! Anna, who wasn't working in me, pushed a $15 gel manicure and I figured What the hey, $25 bucks for both?! Score! Oh, how wrong I was. Kimmy was the nail tech who worked on me and was on the phone the entire time she did my nails. The. Entire. Time. Hands. And. Feet. I know sometimes pedicures can be a bit uncomfortable with the dirty little scrapes and cleaning going on down there but DAMN, this girl was cutting my skin with her cuticle nippers! No joke, I literally said 'Ow!' several times. Course she was on the phone and didn't acknowledge that my pain level was steadily increasing. Now, onto my gel manicure. Shes still on the phone and ignoring my squirms of pain. I literally jerked my hands out of her grip a couple of times but that didnt slow the stream coming out of her mouth, in a language i couldn't understand, natch. Obviously discussing world peace. She begins cutting off huge strips of skin next to my cuticles. Please God, make it stop. Sweat beads are on my upper lip and I'm possibly on the edge of passing out. Thankfully she moves onto the sanding, polishing gel magic. It end quickly from there and $25 and a tip later, I'm in my car hyperventilating as my fingers sting like a mofo. Fast forward to 4 days later. Neosporin every day on my cuticles. Seriously. And the kicker....my gel manicure is falling off in giant chunks and my toenails are chipped like I've been clawing my way out of a dirt hole. Never again. Ever. read more

I've been a customer for over 20 years and sad to see the negative reviews. Their prices are low but the craftsmanship is equal to, or greater than salons you will pay triple the price for services. In the 21 years I have been going there, I have only been nicked twice, and not as bad as some more pricey salons. Anna may be a little gruff, Kimmie may talk on the phone, but Linda is sweet and does an amazing job. You will not find a better deal than $15 for mani/pedi. read more

This place was absolutely terrible, will NEVER go back here again. I totally got suckered in by the $10 pedicure as well, silly me. As she was cutting my cuticles I felt this pain and said "ow, ow OW!" Never once did she look up, acknowledge my literal screams of pain and just continued. I looked down and saw my big toe was bleeding in two different places. I called her out on it, and she said it was an ingrown toe nail and now that she pulled it out I'll feel much better. I have never noticed any type of ingrown toe nail. It was awful. And now 3 days later I'm still pain and worried it's going to get infected. Never again. read more

Lourdes H. There is a saying; "you get what you paid for" and this is absolutely true. Just because with this bad economy we want to save some $ and they offer $25 for both, gel mani and pedi for 25 dlls. But the experience is horrible. So in common with Jennifer, this place is a House of Horrors, beginning with the owner Anna, she is the rudest people ever met in my life. She doesn't stop talking on their own language the whole time. I don't understand a bit about their language but you can tell they are talking about customers. Other ladies doesn't say much either but this Anna is rude. She doesn't care about us, customers. Worst service ever. Bottom line, don't try, don't ever go there if you are a regular customer just to save mone. It is not worth it. When you go and wash your hands, you have to go to their lounge/kitchen/bedroom, all dirty and full of dirty dishes. When I was there, a customer came and ask at what time she will be taken care of, her appt was at 3:30 p.m. and it was 3:30, Anna literally screamed at her, and she told her in front of all of us and all the customers, that one time she didn't showed up for her appt and now she has to wait. The customer was like, , , , what what are you talking about, and Anna said,, , , , now you wait, because we going to take care of you whenever we want. Of course the customer, walked out. Seriously which I had read the other review on here before I went into this place. I have been getting acrylic nails off and on for about 15 years, so I know how the process works. I have NEVER had such a bad experience as I did in this shop. I went in a few days ago and at first I thought it was going to be a good experience, there were a few customers in the shop, and they seemed to be regulars, which is always a good sign. I couldn't have been more wrong. I went in for a full set and Kimmy did my nails, she was on her phone the entire time, and didn't bother to ask me any questions about what I wanted. While she was doing my nails she was not gentle with the drill at all, I can handle having one or two cuts, I understand that it's a process and sometimes that can't be avoided. However, I have TEN cuts on my fingers and I have never gotten even close to that, my fingers hurt so bad even days later, and it hurts to touch anything. I jumped in pain several times while she was doing my nails, and she tried to blame it on me by saying something about my nail beds being really deep, that's not true, I have never had an issue before. I asked for the corners of my nails to be rounded, and she said that because I type so much they would file themselves down, never heard that one before. They also don't accept credit cards so I had to go to the bank and get cash after she was done, probably something they should advise up front. I will NEVER go back to this place, it was a horrible experience, and not one I want to repeat. I'm glad I didn't get a pedicure because I can only imagine how bad that would have been. So my mom has gone here for years and I have gone a few times include for my wedding. We only go to Linda who is great. I went once to the owner Anna and she hurt my cuticles, fingers, and toes....very rough. I knew my mom liked to go see Linda, so every year on her birthday for the last 3 years I have given her a gift certificate. As you know, in the state of California gift cards don't expire. They don't even take out fees if you don't use them anymore. Well these gift certificates are paper certificates with no expiration marked on them as they are not allowed. The last time my mom went, Anna told my mom she could not accept the certificate because it had been over a year. She goes but she forgets them at home. My mom told her that was not allowed in the state on California and Anna got mad at her. My mom told her my daughter paid cash and the cash does not expire. Anna got upset and let my mom use part of it. She then put an expiration date on it. My mom finally went back today to use the last of the certificate. Part of the reason she still goes there besides Linda, is that she can pay $20 for a manicure and pedicure and that includes the tip. Well mom got a pedicure with gel, and when she went to pay Anna, Anna again told her the gift certificate was expired, and that she would not accept it. My mom said again, that that is illegal in California, and that she should not sell gift certificates purchased with cash if she won't jonor them. Anna began to yell and scream at my mom. My mom pulled abut cash to pay Linda, then asked Anna for her gift certificate back, so that she could take it to a lawyer. Anna kept yelling at her and threw money in my moms face because she freaked out and did not want to give her the certificate back. Linda came out to the car to apologize for the incident and told my moms he could have the money from the certificate back. My momsaid no, Linda could keep that. She was not worried about the money, just the fact that Anna Is not honoring the money/certificates like she is supposed to, then yells at her customers. Anna constantly yells at people when we are in there. Mom shoulda left years ago like I did, but only stayed because Linda did a good job. :-( read more
