$115 - gel mani with design done by chery! love the details on this design and set was completed in just over 1 hr - friendly and quick

    Elexan H.

Yesterday I came to get my nails done at Nail Box with Cherry. The service started with a negative undertone from the beginning. The appointment was at 3:30pm on May 1st. What time did I actually sit down at the station? Until 3:55pm. I understand setbacks are real, but Cherry did not apologize or thank me for waiting. I thought this was inconsiderate, considering how much time I waited but I brushed it off. Later, she started drilling my nails, and in one spot I could see that there was a dip in my nail that was not present in the others in addition it hurt. I had noticed Cherry was rushing through the service from the beginning. I took a moment to look at my nail, and she immediately said, "It's fine, there's nothing wrong" and made a gesture to get my hand back. I thought this was rude because I waited 25 minutes for her to finish her prior service, but she couldn't wait a 1 minute for me to look at my nail that seemed over-drilled? I brushed it off, but I was growing disappointed with the treatment. Next, Cherry was applying a clear coat, and all of a sudden said, "Relax, you don't let me do my job". I was surprised to hear a remark like that considering I was not even doing anything. My hands probably reflected how tense I was after she overdrilled and caused sensitivity. This is when I broke silence, and told her, "Cherry you have been rushing through my service, and were rough with the drill earlier. Next time, please be careful as it hurt and my nails feel really sensitive. I know your work, and that is why I am bringing it up. This is just feedback." She set her head down, and seemed to work slower but said, "You may think that, but I finish every customer and go over time if needed. Everybody gets 1 hour all the time. I have 20 years of experience and the reason I have to redo all this process is because you come here every 2 months, and you trim your nails so water gets in between the nail and the gel and it's making your nails weak. It's not my drilling." I in response said, "yes, I have to trim my nails because I play guitar, and I cannot have them grow beyond a certain point, and I do tell you to trim as low as possible. The last time I was here was not 2 months ago though. I came here April 5th." She replied, "No you didn't, you were here 2 months ago, and I'll check the system later because I always have to work so hard with your nails looking like a disaster". We went back and forth, and she kept going on the hamster wheel that it was my fault my nails were sensitive. You could tell even other clients around me were getting frustrated with our argument. At this point I knew Cherry could not take constructive feedback, and it honestly made me sad because I was not being valued as a paying customer. When you go to the dentist, and have cavities and they start drilling on you. The dentist doesn't say, "It's your fault your teeth have sensitivity because you eat candy, so I'm just going to drill away not caring if it hurts, or not plus you were here 2 months ago so it's not my fault". No, they try to make you feel comfortable and supported. They provide a service where your needs are met, your concerns are heard, and where you are valued. Cherry was not professional, and was more concerned with being right. She couldn't take honest feedback, and she couldn't value a paying customer. I've attached the date of my last visit using my bank account. We were both wrong I guess, does it matter? no. What matters is treating others with respect, empathy, dignity and care. You don't need 20 years of experience to do that. Treat others how you would like to be treated.

I'm still new to getting gel X nail sets but omg Ivy killed it!! I gave her an inspo picture and she was able to match it without any modifications. She was extremely detailed, efficient, and did an amazing job. She finished this set in under an hour and a half! Definitely recommend coming here and seeing Ivy :)

Very cute and well maintained salon. Got gel x from Meg and she was very detailed! I was indecisive and she was patient with me and very sweet. Only notes were that $20 extra for French is a little much.. thank you!

Abby did my nails and they came out absolutely perfect. I got gel x overlay. I couldn't find the color I wanted. She saw the picture and picked the perfect shade. I love them.

I'm not really sure how to rate this place as I felt bad for the new nail tech that did my nails. I booked a gel x appt with design with a level 1 artist Abby for last Friday 7/19 and she was definitely feeling a lot of pressure as she didn't know how to do the design I wanted but the owner and her coworker told her she should try it. I didn't think my design was hard. Starting off when she was filing my nails and cutting my cuticles it kind of hurt me where I felt a sting. Additionally I noticed one of the gel x nails was kind of too small for my nail and I mentioned to Abby is my natural nail suppose to stick out and if she can fix it. She ended up just filing it down and it made my nail crooked. Here's the real issue: there was a specific design I wanted but they didn't even do it correctly because the beginner nail tech was freaking out. It was so bad that I believe the owner ended up taking over and said "it won't look the same but it'll still look cute". It was nice of the owner to take over but I wished the nail artist told me the design was hard and I would have gladly changed it as I had several designs I was interested in. I will say the nails are cute but it looks nothing like what I requested so I'm a bit disappointed but didn't want to say anything since I've already sat down for 2 hours doing my nails. I attached the photo of what I wanted and the nails I got. My tip is don't go with a level 1 beginner artist. Just try to book the pro artist ahead of time as they get booked up quickly.

I just uploaded pictures of my nails 2.5 weeks later - they still look amazing!!! highly recommend this salon and Chery :)

Got my nails done here without knowing that a few days later I was getting engaged! I'm so happy with how my nails looked in the pictures and the manicure was seriously one of the best I've ever gotten. I forgot the name of the girl who did my nails but she just recently moved here from New York, so go show them some love!

Gel nail color on natural nails and designs by Meg. She's a really talented artist and did exactly as my inspo pic. Highly recommend!

Service and quality was beyond expectations. Meg did my nails so well and she's super sweet! Very modern and trendy vibes.

My friend goes to Nailbox quite often to get her nails done and I've never pulled the plug before, instead opting to go to other places just because, but she was going to get married and your girl's nails needed help. Making an appointment is easy - get on their website, choose the type of service you want, pick a nail artist (or not) and book the time and date that's opened. There's an option to join a waitlist too if you don't see the time or date that you want. I saw Dana's work on IG originally and knew I wanted to book with her and was happy she had appointments available the next day. She didn't disappoint. Dana (@_glowstudioaesthetics on IG) was not only great to talk to and friendly, but she also put a lot of focus time to getting the nail shape & design right. I'm a happy camper and would recommend her to anyone looking to show off their hands a little bit more. :) The nail salon itself is off 4th Ave and there's plenty of street parking and parking garages along the downtown area. Parking is only free Sundays so plan accordingly.

Abby was awesome! The appointment took two hours but Abby was super detail oriented and made sure that I was happy every step of the way with the length, shape, colors, and designs as worked on my nails. The shop was clean and quiet. Loved my experience and will be coming back again.

I usually do a simple single color Gel-overlay set and Abby is so good, it can seriously last for 4-5 weeks.

I found Linda on Yelp, loved her work, called the salon, and she just happened to be available that same day -- which already felt like fate. And of COURSE... before driving there, I tried swatting a fly on my porch (don't ask ) and somehow broke my thumbnail literally in half. By the time I arrived, I was anxious, embarrassed, and fully preparing myself for pain and disappointment. But Linda immediately made me feel comfortable. If you're someone who gets nervous walking into a new establishment -- whether it's a salon, restaurant, or even a medical office -- you know how important energy and kindness are. Linda greeted me so warmly, reassured me instantly, and handled my broken nail SO carefully that I barely felt discomfort. I genuinely thought my nail was doomed, but she saved it beautifully. The whole appointment honestly felt like hanging out with a friend while getting your nails done. We spent the visit talking, laughing, and getting to know each other. She shared stories about her salon and her team, and you can genuinely tell these are hardworking, humble people who truly care about what they do. That part especially stuck with me. I've always been a neutral nail girlie, but Linda started showing me different styles and ideas that actually got me excited to branch out and try new things again. That's the kind of nail tech you want -- someone who not only does beautiful work, but inspires confidence and makes the experience feel fun and safe. Finding a new nail tech after years with the same person can honestly feel weirdly emotional lol, but I left feeling SO relieved and happy that I found her. Safe to say...
