The ribs and sliced brisket sandwich were the clear stars--perfectly tender, full of flavor, and cooked just right with a nice smoky bark. The smoked mac and cheese was another standout--creamy, rich, and packed with that deep, smoky goodness that takes comfort food to the next level. Chicken was flavorful and decent. Just not my style as I enjoy a hot & fast style. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, with a casual setup where you can sit wherever you want and order at the counter. The service was quick and efficient, and our food came out hot and fresh in no time. Portion sizes were generous, definitely worth the price and enough to leave you satisfied. The sauces were solid--a nice variety to choose from and they complemented the meats well. Nothing too out of the ordinary, but they did the job. If you're a sauce lover, you'll appreciate the options, though the meat definitely shines on its own without needing much help. All in house created which personally I thought they be better knocks a star off. Overall, it was a great experience from start to finish--excellent BBQ, cozy vibes, and smooth service. Definitely worth the visit if you're craving top-notch smoked meats and hearty sides in the Pennsylvanian mountains.

An hour passes, a few more minutes, a few more. We call. The 'order was never received by the kitchen' and the food was never made nor out for delivery. There was no notification and somehow the front cashier didn't know anything about the order. The solution was for us to wait an additional 20-25 minutes for food to be made and hopefully delivered.

This wasn't cooking, it was indifference on a plate. I've served in the military for 12 years and have been issued pre-packaged meals that were infinitely better than this. The pasta arrived in a flimsy foil bowl and was very clearly mass-produced, likely assembled in some random factory. And if, by some miracle, this was actually prepared in-house, that only makes it far worse. The noodles were lower quality than bargain-bin ramen, and the so-called Alfredo "sauce" wasn't a sauce at all it was a congealed lump of melted cheese with no resemblance to Alfredo in any form. What they served me was unrecognizable as food, let alone something fit to be sold or consumed. I wouldn't serve this to an animal, much less a paying customer. It is astonishing that anyone thought this was acceptable. I won't even comment on their pizza, but if the same level of negligence applies, it's no mystery how this place stays open, standards clearly do not exist here. This was a disgraceful dining experience, easily the worst I've ever had and that's coming from someone who has eaten military rations for over a decade.

While driving home from an epic early-June Friday adventure, I found myself battling a serious…read moresweet tooth craving. What I needed was a grab-and-go dessert to cap off the day. Enter Ranch House Restaurant. I've been driving past the Ranch House for the majority of my life and somehow had never stopped. This particular Friday, that was finally going to change. Located right along Route 15, The Ranch House earns immediate points for convenience. It's incredibly easy to get in and out of, and there is a TON of parking available right outside the restaurant. From an accessibility standpoint, this place is about as easy as it gets. I pulled in around 4pm on a Friday afternoon and had no trouble finding a parking spot. Inside, the restaurant was buzzing with diners. Busy for 4pm? Absolutely. Overwhelming? Not at all. There were plenty of staff members available, and someone greeted me almost immediately. I explained that I wasn't staying for a meal and was only there to check out the dessert case for something to take with me. The waitress couldn't have been nicer and encouraged me to take my time. And thank goodness she did. I spent several minutes standing in front of the dessert case having a very serious internal debate between two worthy contenders: a towering slice of peanut butter pie and a gigantic piece of chocolate cake slathered with peanut butter frosting. In the end, the chocolate cake won. For $6.77, I was happily carrying an enormous slice of cake back to my car and already looking forward to dessert later that evening. This particular piece of cake had been officially designated as Friday Night Date Night dessert and was destined to be enjoyed a few hours later in a beautiful location. I remained committed to the plan and patiently waited until the proper time to dig in. The cake itself was very good. Moist, nicely textured, and pleasantly chocolatey without crossing into ultra-rich fudge territory. As someone who generally prefers vanilla over chocolate, I appreciated that the chocolate flavor was present without completely taking over the experience. The frosting, however, was where things got interesting. As a self-appointed peanut butter dessert connoisseur, I have consumed a truly alarming amount of peanut butter pie, peanut butter cake, peanut butter cookies, peanut butter cheesecake, peanut butter brownies, and pretty much anything else containing peanut butter. This frosting was unlike anything I've ever tasted. Most peanut butter frostings fall into one of two categories: rich and dense or fluffy and sweet. This one was neither. It was salty. Not slightly salty. Very salty. There was a bit of peanut butter flavor. There was a bit of sweetness. But the dominant note for me was salt. I'm honestly still not sure if it was the peanuts themselves, the butter, or some secret ingredient in the Ranch House's recipe, but it was one of the most unusual peanut butter frostings I've ever encountered. Several days later, I'm still trying to decide whether I actually liked it. To be clear, I finished every last bite. Cake doesn't go to waste around here regardless of how confusing my feelings may be. But the frosting left me scratching my head the entire time. Would I stop again? Probably. Would I order the peanut butter dessert again? Probably not. For me, this visit landed firmly in the "meh" category. The staff were friendly, the location was convenient, and the dessert case offered plenty of tempting options. Unfortunately, the peanut butter frosting just didn't quite hit the mark for my taste buds. And that makes me a bit nervous about trying anything else.

Hash browns and the rye bread was the best part although I wish the bread wasn't buttered coming out as I like to butter my own bread. Eggs were cooked as ordered but my bacon tasted weird. I may try again for the waffles or pancakes and hope it's better.

Holy gee-whiz! It's been nearly two years since I went to The Spot and I was happy to get back. I…read morevisited The Spot twice this week and enjoyed a club sandwich both days -- they are so huge and packed with delicious cheese and meat and has thick, lean, crunchy bacon on it. I joked with Jenni that it's a 20-minute sandwich because that's how long it takes to eat. I brought a coworker yesterday and she had a reuben sandwich which she said was outstanding. She tried the chicken and rice soup and said it was wonderful so I tried that today and agree that it was totally worth the $3.99 -- hot, rich, full of chicken and packed with flavor. Today I took another coworker and she loved her sandwich and raved about her tomato bisque soup. Something happened at The Spot that I've never seen before and we were impressed. There were two other customers talking to each other while we were eating. One of them was a (very) loud talker and the owner quietly and discretely went up to her and said he could hear her across the dining room and reminded her other people (us) were eating and would she please lower her voice. He did this with sensitivity and respect but it worked and we were able to enjoy the remainder of our meals in peace. When the loud talker left, we thanked the owner and told him we had never seen anyone do such a thing before. That was just awesome! The sandwiches and soup are so amazing and it's wonderful to support a small, local business. I suspect I'll be back in the area in the next few months and you can believe I will be back and bringing another coworker along.
