Nad Tatrami is a great place that's located in Monee. The first time I tried them was at Monee Fall Feast and they gave me a sample and I was hooked the pergio was delicious. I could not stop eating them for about a good two weeks I will go and place an to go order to the point I thought I was gonna turn into a pierogi. Now, when I went to dine in, they place is beautiful cozy and friendly. I had the steak tartar, which is only available on the weekends. It was excellent. Happy and Excited close to home to obtain such a dish that simple yet elegant to the tastebuds. I truly received a special treat and to know that I can obtain this from somewhere to our home. The quality and care exceeded my expectations as I would usually venture downtown for this rare treat. Definitely a place to stop in have a beer or a glass of wine, take some friends or just treat yourself. Came by here for dinner one night and it was absolutely delicious! The inside is very comfortable and definitely big enough to accommodate a good sized group of people. We started off with the complimentary appetizer, which was bread served with what I think was a meat and potato stuffing--I'm not exactly sure what it was, but it was amazing. We also ordered the potato pancakes, but unfortunately, we weren't big fans of them. They just weren't crispy enough, so the texture of the potato wasn't great. Luckily, the rest of the meal completely made up for it! For our mains, we got the chicken Alfredo (okay, but wouldn't get again!), the beef stroganoff, and the Polish plate. The stuffed cabbage on the Polish plate was absolutely insane, a total highlight of the night. I would 10/10 recommend getting that plate! The only slight critique for the mains is that I wish the beef in the stroganoff had been just a little bit more tender. The dumplings on this plate were just okay. We also ordered two different types of pierogies, both meat and potato, and both were delicious. The beet side dish was also delicious. Me and my grandma had been here before, the food is amazing, and it was my favorite restaurant. However, the last time I went here with my boyfriend, we had gotten chemical poisoning from the water. We immediately felt extremely nauseous and dizzy after taking a few sips of the water. The staff was notified of the issue, but claimed it was just the lemon & mint flavouring and not our suspicion of leftover cleaning chemicals. I am rating this restaurant 3/5 because the food was delicious and the atmosphere was warm and cozy. I am taking off a few stars for being poisoned and getting very sick. This could have easily been prevented if staff made sure there was no soap or bleach cleaning agents in the vessel before use. Imagine that?! A great Polish restaurant in the middle of a corn field practically, like an oasis of gastronomical delight in the darkness of a December night. This is where my friends took me for my birthday and I was so very glad I dined at Nad Tatrami. Coming from Munster, Indiana there really isn't any good Polish restaurants outside of a couple of fabulous full-service Polish delis in Schererville and one in Hammond. This is a great find! There is ample parking, and the interior looks authentically Polish in feel and warmth. Very cozy and comfortable. The service was welcoming and very friendly. All three (3) of us had fabulous entrees, I'll post pics later. Ample portions and big bowls of freshly made soup. It was quite hardy, filling and delicious! We were all very happy! The entire charming experience was like going to Poland as I have traveled there a few times. Definitely worth coming back and repeating our pleasure. Brought the whole family this time for dad's birthday, all 17 of us, and the service and food was outstanding again. We were seated in one of the side rooms which was perfect for the younger kids. A couple pierogi plates and bottle of limoncello were great to get us started. I had the beef stroganoff this time and wow, just wow. Wife had the polish plate and loved it again. First time coming here drove 45 min to have dinner. The waitress was rude from the time we walked in. She gave us an attitude because we asked if we could sit at a table with less people around, so we wouldn't feel crowded. She said I guess and handed us our 2 menus. NEVER came to our table to even bring us water or take a drink order. After 15 minutes we got up and walked out. As we were leaving she said oh you're not staying and we said we have been waiting 15 min and no one acknowledged us for anything. She was very rude and stood across the restaurant arguing with us. A simple sorry I was busy would have been sufficient but instead she just chose to be rude. Only thing I regret is not getting her name so I could have mentioned it in this review. Definitely won't be going back to this rude place. Would have gave them a zero but you have to at least give them one even though they don't deserve it!!! Do not recommend this place!! read more

Today was our second visit. They start you with a small tray of bread with smalec, which is a savory spread. Then we tried the Zapiekanka which is kind of like a french bread pizza of mushrooms, bacon, onion and mozzarella, just outstanding. The sheep cheese soup served with bacon and potato pancake also was delicious. Our entrees were the breaded pork chop, beef stroganoff with dumplings and a Polish plate which has pierogi, stuffed cabbage, smoked kielbasa, sauerkraut and potato pancakes. We drove by on a Saturday afternoon, never been here before, not knowing what to expect, oh my God we noticed the restaurant by the Polish flag flying in front of it my son noticed Kevin said we have to stop here. Upon walking in from felt like we were in a mountainside resort in the winter time Polish music was playing. The ambience was upscale and elegant, breathtakingly beautiful, we looked over the menu and ordered an appetizer of sausage and bread with onions and I ordered sauerkraut and mushroom pierogi full order and a half order of cheese and potato OK. When we were seated, we were presented with slices of rye bread and homemade lard and some pickles. All of it was homemade and delicious, very fresh. My son ordered the beef stroganoff, and then after the order was placed, we noticed they had a weekend special house, grill, lamb chops with sheep cheese, risotto and garlic sauce. I quickly grab the waiter and asked if we could switch after checking. He said we could let me tell you that was the best choice we've ever made. The lamb chops came out three of them cooked perfectly medium rare the presentation was amazing. Let me tell you about the risotto. It was the creepiest most delicious risotto that we ever had better than any Italian restaurant that we've had in Chicago, it was seriously amazing. This was a delightful find out in Monee, Illinois. For southsiders, it is just a dozen miles or so south, pretty close to Governor's State University, and it is worth the trip. Our table had the Polish Plate (5 star stuff: a large stuffed cabbage, 3 cheese pierogis, a potato pancake, and a grilled sausage on sauerkraut); a half order of cheese pierogi (5 stars again, soft pockets of dough with a nice very light sweet cheese inside - the dough pockets were not crispy but rather nice and soft); the Panko breaded chicken breast (5 stars ... chicken pounded flat like the Amish do to pork cutlets with a light breading. The dish came with dumplings that were a bit odd ... that's the only thing we'd skip next time as they were tasteless); and the grilled sausage w/onion and bread (5 star appetizer that you can have for a meal ... 3 pieces of sausage with nice soft onions and good bread). The restaurant has a full bar, and a nice selection of Polish beer ... and Zywiec and Blue Moon on draft. Ambiance was nice and chill. The dining room was one nice large room tastefully decorated. Pleasant music piped in also. Waitstaff was cute and perky ... and they always seemed rushing around. They have a nice outdoor section for those that like to eat al fresco. The food here is traditional and authentic - it was the tops ... much prefer it to the Highlander in Palos. Prices are also very nice here, with the servings nice and large ... they don't skimp on the food. So why not 5 stars ... well there are a few minor but irritating things. (1) First of all they need to get the waitstaff of 2 a little help. The two gals did yeoman work to try and take care of the tables, but there was no way they could keep up ... and as this business gets more successful they'll need more help. We suggest they get one more person - either a busser to clear and clean or a runner too move the plates. As it was we saw one table of 4 get up and leave after sitting with no acknowledgement for 10 or 15 minutes. (2) They have a cute little custom of offering diners a shot of Limoncello as a digestif after their meal - but they don't offer everybody ... it seems just the people they know or like. They should keep this custom and offer everybody, it sort of gives them a special little touch. (3) The door to the outside seating is a standard door opening inwards and every time the waitstaff had to go out there - which was often - they had to put down their dishes on a nearby table and open the door, and then pick them back up and go out. They usually left the door open to deliver the plates and so flies get indoors. Suggest they put on a proper push door that goes both ways and especially from in to out and they can just push their way out. (4) The restaurant has taken up the spreading practice of charging customers when they use their credit cards. To their credit they have a notice on the door that tells you this, but we still think it is a nickel and dime thing to do. So we spend $60 of $70 dollars and they add a $1.73 charge on - that's nickel and dime stuff to maybe save on expenses. Suggest they would be better off hiring that third person so a table of 4 doesn't walk out ... that would be spending a little more to generate more dollars. You can't "save expenses" into a more profitable place ... you have to generate more revenue. Just our opinion as we think the credit card charge cheapens things at this fine place. So with all that, this is still a very nice place. The food is 5 stars, the waitstaff is very good although over worked, and the ambiance is wonderful. If they work on a few little things this place zooms to 5 stars all around. read more

The BEST Eastern European food around- The food is some of the best I've tasted even when traveling all over Europe. The atmosphere is clean, warm and welcoming. Great service both dine-in and carry out. The food is fresh, good quality and overall tasty. The Nad Tatrami Polish plate is delicious and gives a great opportunity to try a variety of their food. I preferred their savory Perogi but that is just personal preference. I love to place a carry out order even if I am only ordering their delicious soups!
