I was very interested for a very long time and finally went in. I was a little disappointed because I thought this would be an authentic Mexican restaurant but it wasn't. The Nacho selections are very nice I do wish they would add nacho cheese sauce not the white. One of the easiest five star reviews I have ever given. A large group of us were in town for the 70.3 Ironman and we loved this place so much we came here twice in three days. I can't remember everything the group had, but I will try to. I had the potato quesadilla and the pasta dish with black beans. They were both amazing. If you are by yourself then it can get a seat near the front so you can people watch. The service was okay. No biggie. Went to Nacho Mama's while visiting my dad in the hospital. My mom works at the nearby VA Medical Center, so she recommended Nacho Mama's as she's been here frequently for lunch. Atmosphere & Service: Outside of the paintings hung up for sale on the Nacho Mama's sort of reminded me of a saloon in the Old West. I like the layout, as there are tables in the front by the windows that kind of give you a VIP view of Broad Street. - The Service was fair. We were told to figure out what we want and when we were ready to place our order at the front. The staff supplied us with every condiment and to-go containers that we requested. The Food: I ordered a Chicken quesadilla ($8), which came with sour cream, lettuce, and guacamole. The quesadilla was good. Pretty much your standard quesadilla. We also ordered cheese dip & chips ($4). We regretted ordering these because although the dip was fine, the chips simply tasted like a $2 Santita's tortilla chips. For some people, this may be fine, but as a lover of tortilla chips, I wasn't a fan of these. The Drinks: They have decent priced drinks here. Ended up ordering a draft Blue Moon for $4.50. They're around $3 each for super delicious and huge tacos that come with lots of lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. 2 of them fill me up easily. Their steak and potato tacos are my absolute favorite !! For their nachos I really enjoy the ones with their mango habenero salsa. Their nacho plates also come packed with a bunch of food and I always have left overs. Depending on which type of nachos you get, you may have to eat them quickly before they get soggy. Need I say anything about their burritos? You got it.. they come in a huge portion as well! The food comes out with minimal wait time, and it's self serve. There's always enough seating when I go, and they can host large parties upstairs if you choose to come with a large group. Stopped in here on the recommendation of a local to the area I am glad I listened. I can say my expectation of the place and what it was, was off but in a good way. As long as you avoid Friday or Saturday nights, Nacho Mama's usually has a short line and the food comes out fast. There's no table service - you order at the front then wait for your name to be called to pick up your food. There's plenty of seating indoors & outdoors, and they have a second floor area good for large parties. I've been here several times since Nacho Mama's is one of the restaurants in downtown Augusta that serves margaritas and stay open a bit later than nearby restaurants. The margaritas are great and pretty strong...so grab a pitcher to share! Or not but you've been warned. The food however is rather bland. I've had their tacos, nachos and quesadillas before and thought they were all pretty generic and in need of some extra zest or spice. They do give hefty portions though...holy moly the first time I saw my order, I thought it was food for the whole table. I'll let you in on my secret dish here: order the T-huff and mix in queso and a dash of hot sauce. I had it with the shrimp and it was heavenly. Heard good things, decided to try it because Mexican is our favorite, my wifes a native Texan. Long story short, burrito said habanero but any kind of spice was barely noticeable and it tasted kinda weird...not bad, but not very appealing either. My wife said the same about her chicken which she removed. The rice is boring and over cooked and all stuck together like clumps, and the beans were ...different. My kid loves beans and rice , and still would not to eat anything but the cheese and chips. They beans were a consistently akin to edamame, not crunchy but not very soft either, a little strange and also very plain tasting. The chips are just store bought, which normally wouldn't upset me...however serving someone the bottom of the bag, which is nothing but broken little pieces is BS. For over $5.00 I could buy a couple bags of chips that are not smashed. That was the first time I've ever had a restaurant serve me crumbs that had to pay for. I am still hunting for my go-to Mexican cantina for good Mexican and margaritas, and I was hoping Nacho Mamas would be it. Based on the food alone, though- I don't think it made the cut. We came on a Sunday afternoon and decided to split nachos. Whatever we ordered was pretty standard- cheese, pico, sour cream, guac- and then we added chicken. The portion was large and came out quickly, but there was just nothing special about any of it. There was no seasoning, the toppings were scarce, and I just could have made them better at home. From our limited interaction, the staff was relatively friendly and the place was pretty cool inside. But nothing about it was outstanding. My Mr and I dined in during lunch and it was super busy but the line moved fast. You order at the register, leave your name and you wait for your meal. They call your name. There is plenty of seating. Out door patio, bar, side seating, booths, tables and there is even an upstair seating. We both wanted nachos so I got the simple nachos with Monterrey Jack Cheese, salsa, jalapeños and added pulled beed for extra $2.50. My Mr. ordered the Step Daddy that includes Mango Habanero salsa, sour cream, pico de Gallo, refried beans, lettuce and added pulled pork for extra $2.50. We also ordered beers on tap (pint) River Watch Brewery Route 104 Pale Ale to pair with it. Let me tell you... for $9.00 for nachos, you get a bang for your buck! So much goodness on the plate . I think we should've split it but worth the money! The quality and quantity definitely was worth getting! The proteins were cooked to perfection and had great flavor and paired well! Taco protein had good flavor but there was way too much lettuce and just some diced tomatoes on top. Pulled off over half the lettuce just so I could taste the rest of the taco.
