    Queso dip with taco meat
    Joan G.

Nacho hippo is really wonderful. They have the best margaritas around. We decided to share the queso dip with beef added. Time to order dinner. Two tacos for me with beef and all the way. He had the yard pimps. Fried wontons all the way. If you see me there, stop by and say hello.

Great place for dinner and drinks! Good selection to choose from. Generous portions and fair prices. Highly recommend checking out if you're in the area. This location has a fee parking garage next to the entrance. Was at N. Myrtle location last time we were here almost 5 years ago and it was delicious!

Not sure if I was always one of my favorite places to go when I'm in Myrtle Beach. The food there is always great. And they always have great cocktails at the bar. The last time we went, the service was not up to par. It took us a little while to get someone to take our order, but we are OK with that because our drinks came pretty quick. The only issue I really had was that it was so hot outside that the drinks were sweating really bad on the tables. Our table was a little offset and crooked, so my water sweated itself right off the table into the floor. When one of the girls came over to help clean it up, I apologize for making a mess and helped to pick up some of the glass. She made a comment something to the effective well maybe if you hadn't had so many of those (pointing at my cocktail) this wouldn't have happened. I was a little put off for this, and it actually was my first drink. I started to say something to the manager, but decided not to because maybe she was just having a bad day and took it out on me. This is the first time I've ever had any complaint at nacho hippo I love the food there and the drinks are always cold and refreshing.

It was so nice to return to this place and I had forgotten how much I liked it. The flavors here surprise and delight me and I loved everything we had. We were so hungry and forgot to take pics on this visit. We got the bang bang shrimp appetizer that is served in the tortilla cups. It was one of the best things I have ever tasted honestly. I also got two tacos, one with seared tuna, and one vegetarian. They were absolutely amazing. Fresh, flavorful, delicious. I could eat here every day. We had a great time, great service, amazing decor, easy parking nearby in the garage. We will be back! Miss you already Nacho Hippo!

The building has great curb appeal! Bright lights, ample outdoor seating, and a wonderful ambiance! Inside it is just as nice and vibrant. Margarita special-wasn't so special...$7-16 ounce house drink. Or you could do the original NON special-32 ounce for $12....so the special really wasn't a thing...also very basic margarita: mix, tons of ice, and very little tequila. Service was poor. Our waitress was missing most of the time...so that was lovely... Food was better than the service! Still a solid 3 for food. Tex-Mex and typical tastes. The rice was good, and nachos are a step up from Taco Bell's Nacho's Bell Grande... so take this one as you will.

In Myrtle Beach for vacation, yes, even during Hurricane Debby. And yes, it has rained buckets. But this place is situated in mixed use area called the Market Common. It has plenty of restaurants, a bowling alley, a movie theater, and shops. This is a great Mexican food establishment not too big and not too small. There are many options, including vegan options with a variety of margaritas , beer, and a small selection of wine. The service from start to finish was nice and not atmosphere.

At Myrtle Beach on vacay, my wife and I were in the mood for Mexican (more Tex Mex) fare and Nacho Hippo looked interesting. As our custom, we went for early dinner. The place was packed! But we only had to wait about 15 minutes. Monica brought us menus, which we had already been looking over. My wife got the Sloppy Burrito with chicken. I decided to try their special Hipponachomus Nachos, personal size. We started off with Tortilla chips and Queso dip. I also asked for hot salsa, extra cost. Turned out to be Mango Habanero and a bit sweet. Didn't think I would like it but I did! Our food came and servings were huge. My wife loved her (usual) burrito. Our chips and dips were also great. My Nachos? Shazam! A huge pile of chips with Chili, Chicken, Taco Meat, two cheeses, lettuce and Pico de Gallo. It was really great. And so much I had to take a third back to resort. Many more cars arriving as we were leaving and headed to inside and outside seating. Food was great, service excellent, ambiance a bit noisy. The inside dining looked small in comparison with the huge buildings.

Combing a comfortable place with comfortable food is what I think makes Nachos a comfort food. I wouldn't say the inside is really comfort themed more of cheap focused or "industrial style". I do appreciate there flexibility with how much control they give you in the creation process of your nachos! This place really is just nachos though, and can't say I'd eat them everyday. Service is nice, and although they make pretty good Nachos, I'd probably only go back for someone else.

BYO Nachos (chips, shredded cheese, pulled chicken, vegetables)

Not good. I think the AC was broken so it was so hot, even sitting in the back part of the restaurant. I got the BYO nachos- beware the queso does have gluten! Not the most allergy friendly place but can accommodate if you let your server know. Very mid food- my brother's taco meat on his beef taco had so much taco seasoning and salt it was inedible & my nachos (BYO with no queso, add vegetables (which are squash, zucchini & roasted red peppers) & add pulled chicken) were pretty flavorless and not very good. My entire family was unimpressed and didn't like our food. The service was average & the environment inside is a little weird.

We stopped in for an impromptu dinner tonight. There was a line out the door and the hotesess's were taking names. The lime out of the restaurant makes it very awkward and hot to wait. We got a table at a high top about 15 minutes later. The menu is very reasonable with nothing over $20.00 (I believe). I was looking for the healthiest meal that I could so I ordered their signature salad not in a taco shell and added tuna. The tuna was way too seasoned for me but the salad was still good. My friend has the Popeyes quesadilla and she loved it. I really loved their salsa. Out server was really, really great! I would definitely come back again if I lived in the area. There is inside and outside seating and is a fun themed atmosphere. This is nothing fancy. .

This is what $6 gets you for a Taco at Nacho Hippo. The steak taco was tasty and the sauce delightfully tangy and spicy, but good grief for $6 I would expect bigger than this. The Baja blackened fish taco was bigger simply due to the cabbage to fish ratio. The fish was incredible mushy. Again, too bad as the sauce was very good. This is more Tex-Mex than Mexican. For the price I probably won't be back.

I stopped in to Nacho Hippo with my friend on our short vacation to Myrtle Beach. I have never been to this restaurant before, but the adjacent neighborhood is quite charming. We found parking nearby. We came on a weekday in mid August, the eatery was fairly quiet. Love the tie dye t-shirt collection that is for sale. The food was fairly average, but good. My quesadilla was tasty. Decor was fun and bright. We didn't try any alcoholic beverages on our visit, but they have a lot of great looking margaritas. Hope to come back again on a future trip!

The first Cook Out restaurant opened in Greensboro, NC in 1989. They opened their first non-NC store in SC in 2010, and has continued to grow till now reaching over 360 locations around the South. All their ground beef is delivered fresh to each store, adhering to their motto of "Always Fresh, Never Frozen". We visited this location, in the heart of the tourist zone in Myrtle Beach. Only their drive-thru and walk-up are open, with their dining room continuing to be closed (though they have a few picnic tables in their parking lot). They are known for their burgers and milkshakes, a formula used by practically every successful burger shack. Their combo meals are called 'trays', so we got two regular trays. First ($7.99) consisted of a Big Dbl with grilled onions and cheese (+0.55), added tomato (+0.10). The sides were white cheddar bites (tasted similar to fried cheese curds) and fries (skin-on). I upgraded the beverage from a soda to a Oreo Mint Shake (+1.50). Added a side of hush puppies for $1.99. Second ($7.99) was 3 chicken strips, cole slaw, and onion rings with peanut butter fudge upgrade (+1.50). It didn't take too long for the order to completed, bringing it back to eat in our kitchenette back at the resort. It was plenty of food, with the burger being exactly how I like it. The shakes were very thick, and easily savable for later...we ate it like ice cream. All the rest were solid, with generous portions...it's what you would expect from any cafeteria that has a good deep fryer, very good for the price. The cole slaw was just finely diced cabbage which added some needed fiber to the meal. And the hush puppy pieces were very dense, two were plenty for me...it's the ultimate cheap filler food.
