In researching local restaurants, I read a review that stated they had never had a bad meal in their life (?) before this and gave this place 2 stars because the chips and salsa were good. I dismissed that review because I couldn't comprehend NEVER having a bad meal before. Come to find out...that review was spot on! After being seated, we were served chips and salsa. The chips were atypical; thicker than a traditional tortilla chip, but good. The salsa was also different, but delicious. We each ordered the beef chimichangas. Our server was not fluent enough to tell us if it was steak or ground beef and the menu didn't list the options either. Our meals were served with beans and rice on the side. The beans were cold and the rice extremely hot with an unpalatable seasoning that I couldn't identify. The chimichangas had a protein that wasn't ground beef, wasn't steak and wasn't good. It was a weird texture, unlike any beef I've ever had. My first bite was filled with gristle and difficult to chew. The second bite was filled with that odd textured "beef". The third bite was again all gristle and I was all done. I couldn't bring myself to take a fourth bite. Overall it was a terrible meal. On top of that we were charged a 4% for using our credit card. I know this is becoming more commonplace, but it wasn't stated on the menu and definitely not mentioned by the server. Also 4% is on the high side. This Desayundador is NO Buenos! read more

We stopped here to grab breakfast. This is a small hole in the wall restaurant with a very nice and friendly staff. We started with some Mexican coffee and sweet bread. The coffee was amazing and went very well with the bread. For breakfast, we got the huevos rancheros and a breakfast burrito. The huevos rancheros was perfect. The breakfast burrito was good as well but could have used a lot more papas (potatoes) instead of a hashbrown patty, so that was slightly disappointing. This is a little hidden gem! The home made chips here have got to be some of the best I've ever had! The food is an authentic street style and is slightly different than your typical Mexican restaurant, in a good way! Keep that in mind if you are visiting with anyone who prefers things a specific way or has a certain expectation. The service was wonderful- our server was attentive, kind, and quick. Enjoyed the experience! Tried a steak taco and an empanada. Both were good, but I've had flakier empanada pastry elsewhere. Taco comes with onion and cilantro. My friend had the tongue taco and cheek taco, as well as the chimichangas. He said the meats were all so tender and weeks later, still talks about them. Service was friendly and the young lady was working hard. The cook in back brought dishes out as they were ready, so everything is hot and fresh. This is authentic food, not TexMex. read more

The best and most authentic Mexican food I've ever had and husband agreed it's as good as anything in SoCalifornia. Clearly the food is made with care, not simply assembled as is the case in many other restaurants. Everything tastes of Mexico as if abuela made it herself for Sunday supper. Delicious. Unassuming storefront should not deter anyone from visiting. I understand it's BYOB (beer & wine). Service was friendly, personable and prompt. Wish we had this place back at home in VA. Looking for a Mexican restaurant recently was browsing the internet `that served authentic Mole Sauce. Well i wasn't disappointed beside the food we were greeted by the hostess who sat us right away and as soon as we were seated our server came over to take the drink order.
