This was a nice family run restaurant! I will say, there was room for improvement but I would still highly recommend giving la taqueria a try for the food, pricing, and supporting a small family business! The inside was very clean and modern. They have a different special every day of the week which seemed like a great way to try everything on the menu. The star of the show was the shrimp burrito. Perfectly cooked, tender shrimp, excellently seasoned rice and beans all combined together with crema and lettuce in a grilled tortillas. There was actually quite a bit of shrimp in the burrito. And the salsas added extra depths of flavor. We also got chips and salsa. The chips were nothing to write home about, seemed to have been sitting out for a bit. The owner was nice, she brought out a free chip refill. The verde salsa and spicy salsa were homemade with good flavory and a nice smokiness. I felt the same way about the side salas that came with the burrito. It was decent, nothing special. I imagine the fries would be similar. Overall this was a great place to get some fresh hispanic seafood! The tacos also looked amazing, I would definitely recommend trying out the entrees here. read more

Let me preface this by saying I'm from California where Mexican food is abundant with lots of choices and plenty of excellent choices. That being said, this was a nice place to visit but not excellent. The food was tasty but a little too fast food style for me and not as authentic as I wanted it to be. It felt more like an American version for tourists than authentic Mexican. Chips and salsa should be a free option as that is standard in pretty much every Mexican restaurant in Cali. From the neighborhood hole in the wall to the more upscale, chips and salsa for dine in guests are free and abundant. Yes I know it's not California but just an observation on how customer satisfaction is everything. The food was tasty enough but only just enough portion to fill me up and not enough to have leftovers... which again is not a bad thing just not what I'm used to. It seems like a family run restaurant and I appreciated the service was prompt, friendly and accommodating. It was a slow day and our order was quick. I love Jamaica (Hibiscus) and drink it almost daily even at home and it was quite tasty and not overly sweetened. If you're not as discerning as I am about the authenticity of Mexican fare it is worth a visit for the tastiness and service. read more

Found this little place on Yelp and the reviews were right on. It's a small place a little off the beaten path. They keep their menu limited to tacos, quesadillas, nachos, and a few burritos. Simple Mexican fare and they do it well. It was a bit of a food truck vibe. We eat Mexican out at least once a week and we found the food here well done. We took advantage of the 3 traditional taco combo and added on rice and beans for our Monday lunch. Everything was seasoned well and cooked just right. Picked up a carry out late this afternoon and I have to say it was really good ! I found them because of the good reviews so I gave it a try and I'm not sorry. We had a shredded chicken burrito (came with FF or chips and salsa or salad I believe) and a shredded chicken bowl ! Mine was the bowl and it was a very large portion and it was great !
