I thought they would have paved the parking lot - BUT NO. It is very hard to walk on. We were able to sit at the bar and ordered cocktails. Parking right now is hit or miss. Really cool environment and a great addition to the marsh walk. Fun place to take younger kids. The place is newer so I think they are still perfecting their menu. I got the birria-changa which was super tasty. I've been here twice, most recently service was not the best. They forgot to send my order to the kitchen and didn't realize until everyone else had their meal. After when they put my order in, it was the wrong thing. Despite that one event, we have had a pleasant experience at sloppy Jose's. Definitely a great place for drinks with chips and queso!!! read more

First visit to Sloppy Jose, we ate outside on the covered patio/deck. The restaurant build out from the replaced Neptune was done nicely with bright colors, higher end seating, even on the outside decks and a nice spacious layout. We tried the Jose Dilla's (Quesadillas )and the Veggie Tacos. We ordered a side of Guac and it was delicious. Initial impressions of food and service are representative of the 3 out of 5 stars. I expect this will improve as they get all kinks ironed out, they have only been up and running for a short time at the writing of this review. The atmosphere, seating and facility are excellent. At first I was anticipating mid-grade food & service with an excellent view. Big surprise, food and service turned out to be 9 out of 10. Not a fan of trying new places, especially newly opened restaurants. After my third venture I can say it's my new goto Tex-Mex place. And Yes, I'm a local. We met 2 friends there for supper. There were entrees ordered between 4 people. It was 2 taco meals and an order of ACP. None of the meals were anything special. One taco meal was over cooked along with the ACP. The service was below the level of the food. We got limited attention from our server. I ran out of beverage and never got a single refill. This was an unexpected pleasure at a strip mall don't go. They are expecting your usual Italian style pizza. We had four or five pizzas that we shared that were all Mexican in nature and very good service was good. He was also the chef. The restaurant was small, but clean. My favorite pizza was the lingua with tender slices of beef tongue. My daughter's family goes there every time they go to Surfside. read more

We went to Murrells Inlet today for the WITCHES' NIGHT and it was a lot of fun. Most of the restaurants were super busy with long wait times. We just happened to wind up at Sloppy Jose which was busy but didn't have a long line. So happy that we tried it. Food was very good and I was amazed at how fast we got it. This place is great! The staff is friendly and the views are wonderful. The food is good. I do hope it stays open because it's at the end of the Marsh Walk strip and many don't make their way down that far, but they should because the best food is at the end (Sloppy Jose's and Wicked Tuna). read more

Food quality is dismal. Meat in fajitas all grizzle. For $28 maybe some skirt steak? Rather pay more and have a smaller portion and at least have a decent meal . Zero flavor. Zero effort. I actually think el cerro is better slop. Glad you saved a dollar on the extra 1/4 oz of tequila to fill the glass- it was the only item that didn't suck that maybe I would come back for. read more

I witnessed a very serious food service violation this evening. I was waiting in the bathroom and a server exited the restroom stall and immediately exited without washing her hands. I peeked my head out into the hallway and addressed the server, asking if she was going to wash her hands. She essentially said "sorry I got caught" and told me she was going to wash her hands in the kitchen, and she didn't have time to wash them in the bathroom. She was very unprofessional to me. After I finished in the bathroom and left I found the server speaking about me to a group of other employees. The food was very mediocre and I will not be back. EDITED TO ADD: My father in law, who also ate at the restaurant experienced food poisoning symptoms the night following our reservation. read more

We love having family dinners with our friends at Sloppy Jose's. You can't beat the marsh view and having margaritas on the patio. It's so nice to have a Mexican food option on the marsh walk for something different. Our kids love playing on the playground. The chips and salsa and service are wonderful! Do not waste your money. Better off going too taco bell. Corn dip not fire roasted was cold frozen corn with canned qeuso. Tacos served with no Pico just shreds of lettuce and cheese for 7 bucks each? Horrible food and cold. This place will never make it. And 7 dollar 10 Oz beers on tap. I really wanted this one to be good. Tiny taco salad with very little meat. Weak margaritas. Chips and salsa were good.

So just sat down at sloppy Josie's in the inlet to have dinner , and have been told 3 times before they have even taken the drink order we only have 90 minutes to order and eat ... what the hell we have 6 people eating and drinking and you preface multiple times before you can even serve drinks a time limit .. not sure who's idea but it's sure not a good one , I understand if you have a table sitting not ordering but other than that it's not good business ... the wait staff ultimately pays the price for that ... We reserved for 6:30 on Sunday. 1st visit. Open air seating. No A/c . Decorated very cool. Bar set up center with covered seating on one side( very comfortable chairs) and open air on the other. Not friendly greeters( watched this the entire time with all guests who arrived) minimal eye contact and no smiles-these two need tons of remediation) the one greeters Stanley cup was much more important to her. Server assigned was excellent with the biggest smile and arrived with chips and excellent salsa. Family of5 -we ordered guacamole-it was very very good; fajitas x2 of the party were excellent, 2 taco deal was very good and the chipotle chicken Alfredo was very very good but we forgot the leftovers as we were smitten by the inlet while waiting to pay and forget our wonderful leftovers. We returned less than 10 min later but they threw them out. Oh well‍. Drinks were good. House martini that's 5 bucks/ ok. Would not get again. Paloma was excellent per daughter. Biggest problem were flies( how can you stop that with open air?) and the greeters/ seaters. Having dinner watching their attitudes was definitely a deterrent. Love the owner and hope they would monitor this more closely. Nothing like Neal's creek house or Neal and Pam's as all their staff is excellent. Would go back for the food and the ambience for sure.
