We got the platter Bandeja Puntacana that had a variety of meats with rice, beans and plantains. Good portion for 2. The side of yuca fries was a small and fed 3 people. The service was good. It took a little bit for the food but that's because it's literally made in the moment. The decor is very brilliant and colorful. They do not serve cocktails after a certain hour so we had beer with our meals. They seemed short on staff but it didn't matter, the food surpassed my expectations. I will be back! read more

Colorful decor with lots of fake plants all around both hanging from the ceiling as well as in the corners. We came here on a Monday afternoon and it was already pretty busy. We got seated pretty quickly. We ordered the empanadas which are huge and deep fried. My favorite and my daughter's favorite was the ground beef. The sauce it comes with was very nice. It was our last night of our trip to South Carolina and I wanted something good to eat. I Googled nearby restaurants and this place had a picture of a whole fried snapper, my favorite meal! The reviews were great all referencing the authenticity of the food. I was sold then. The restaurant was clean and the staff very welcoming. Our waiter was new but he was determined to get it right. I ordered the whole snapper, my friends ordered pork chops and fried pork chunks. Our meals came out nicely plated on wooden boards & it was piping hot. ALL of it was delicious! The rice, salad, and plantains were also on point. It was so good I asked for the cook to come out so I could pay her a compliment! If I had another night there I would have returned to try something else. My only suggestion would be to have someone a bit more fluent in English on staff to help out. I live in Miami and I have had my fair share of a lot of the dishes on the menu at Punta Cana. Growing up in Myrtle Beach, I have tried a lot of the restaurants in the area but as I come back to visit relatives over the years I discover new restaurants that open. Punta Cana Bar and Grill is one of them. I will admit that I set the bar low on finding anything similar to restaurants in Miami when I ordered from here. But I was blown away when I received my order via Grubhub earlier today. I got the fried fish, with rice, beans, and a side of fried plantain. It was plated neatly, and still hot by the time it was delivered. The fish could have used a pinch more salt, but overall, for $27 I think it was a good portion: the fish and the plantain were fried perfectly. I definitely will be trying to order again from here before I return to Miami. But I am happy to know there is a taste of the Dominican here in Myrtle Beach whenever I am craving it. read more

I was so excited to try this place as after moving out of NYC where restaurants like this are plentiful, I miss this so much. Punta Cana did not disappoint me at all. The worst thing I can say about my experience here was the rice. The rice was hard as it must've been sitting around for a while. The beans were very good; the beef empanadas were large & delicious; my skirt steak was large and seasoned perfectly. My wife ordered the baked chicken with the sweet bananas and enjoyed her dinner very much. Not an authentic Dominican Restaurant. I hate that I forgot to take a picture! I ordered sancocho. It only had steak in it with a lot of yuca, 1 small piece of potato, 1 piece of plantain and a half piece of a small piece of corn. I can't even describe it... they had no garlic mojito for the Chicharon, but they did give me a watered down what they called churrasco sauce. They also served me 3 pieces of transparent avocado. We had take out here because I was jonesing for some roast chicken. Ironically that's the worst dish we had here (it was pretty overcooked). But everything else was good, highlighted by a delicious chicken (and everything else) soup and an excellent oxtail entree. Fair warning, not a whole lot of English spoken here. Our table sampled, the Chicharron, the large fritura platter, mangu, white rice, and the mofongo with camarones. It was all delicious. If I could give this place 0 stars,I would... I had a reservation there tonight 8/20/2023 for 7 people. The reservation was made at 11am the same morning over the phone. When our party arrived we were originally told table would be ready in 10 minutes. This was at 6:50 pm. There were a large number of people waiting outside the restaurant. When we proceeded to go in at 7 pm I told the woman at the counter (a different person than 10 mins prior) hello and that we had a reservation at 7pm for 7 and she just shook her head no!! Why would you give someone a reservation at a certain time and then just by choice say no. I could've had a reservation at a establishment who actually honor and care about all their customers!! Horrible experience for my first time ever!!! From waiting 1 hour with only 5 tables including ours, never brought our margaritas or the appetizers. The food looked very good but unfortunately having to wait 45 min and ask countless amount of times for silverware made my food cold. And worst of all she said we only had to pay for the beers because nobody ate there food but as soon as we left my notification came back saying we payed 80$ for our drinks! I will most definitely be calling the BBB and also reach out to my bank and file a refund for this unforgivable experience. This place was the BOMB! I live in the Midlands and was down in MB for the weekend. I've never had specifically Dominican cuisine before; but if it all tastes this good, I'm a fan. Had the medium frituras and a side of pork belly. Portions were huge and everything was cooked really well. The way it was fried was amazing and gave it a unique texture and crunch, versus other fried foods I've eaten. Similar to properly prepared carnitas. We wanted to try this restaurant as we love Dominican & South American food. The ratings were high so I felt confident this would be a good place to try! Let me start by saying the restaurant decor is awesome! You walk in a feel like you are in DR! The service was great the server was attentive & friendly. We also received our order pretty quickly. Sadly however, the food was a bit disappointing. The salmon was wayyy overcooked..so was the chicken that my friends ordered. We ordered black beans and what was served was brown beans...they were very bland. I will say the mango juice was delicious and a generous huge goblet! The cheese arepas were delicious. We also ended up with stomach upset that certainly wasn't due to spicy food as there was very little spice in the food. Sorry I can't rate this place higher! I ordered from grub hub at 12 30pm my order was accepted around 1250pm it said and it would be ready around 115-135pm so at about 124pm it said it was ready I get there and ask for my order and they said they gave it to someone else.they couldn't speak English so I had to have someone I interupt for me and them and after about 15 Mins they realized they didn't even make my order or give it to somebody else all I wanted was for them to make my order again if they gave it to someone but that was like way over there head and like I said they didn't even end up making it so after waiting inside another half hour I ended up leaving there a little after 2pm with $18 worth of food I was not happy with worst customer service and service I ever had have had and this is my first 1 star rating ever I I don't like to blog or bitch about bad experiences but this one was just horrible ! read more
