I purchased a plumeria ring with inlay. THIRTY days after purchase the attached photo is what the ring looked like. Lost two portions of inlay. So I send it in because surely it is covered under their "lifetime" warranty right? NOPE you would be wrong. They blamed me said I used chemicals on it or something. I did nothing of the sort. They even went as far as to have the manager call me to state "we thought you were a Dr". As if what, you cannot wash your hands while wearing? I'm sorry if it's that sensitive you need to sell it with a warning or I don't know DON'T PUT IT IN A RING that would possibly be washed with - GASP SOAP!!! - multiple times a day. They do NOT honor their warranty EVEN AFTER 30 DAYS!!!!! The would have done the repair for $75 plus charge me the return FedEx. Suddenly when I state I don't want their piece of garbage jewelry they offer to FedEx it on their dime. Funny how you could do that for free NOW but wouldn't cover it before. Total for the repair would have been $95, the ring was only $750 why would I pay MORE to have it fixed again after THIRTY FREAKING DAYS!!! DO NOT purchase from them especially if you're not from Hawaii. They do NOT give a crap about customers or making anything right. The shop was fine but my sales person an older Asian woman was very pushy and kept trying to oversell to me. When calling to see if my piece was ready the guy on the phone asked if I had called the right location. When in fact I had, i took additional points off for not being more patient with a customer. I was in fact calling the right store but my larger sized ring was being delivered from a different store and not a special order so it was in a different pile. Seems like a communication error from my sales person again since she said we could order it for you. Lastly, upon pick up, my item was overcharged by quite a bit given the sales person charged me for all sizes form the size of the ring in the store to the size I need so 7.5 to 10.5 right size. She changed me for 3 sizes. My beef with this system, you ask? If I just asked what store did have my ring size, I could have gone THERE to get it with no additional charge to myself. And lastly, know the jewelry store policy. there is no additional charge for you up to 8 and 3/4 size rings. Only after the size above 8 and 3/4 you would be charged for the additional ring size adjustments . Do not let them overcharge you. I was overcharged here as well as at the Kalākaua location near Duke's. The manager at this location was kind enough to to reimburse both of my receipts. One was a self purchase, the other was a ring my hubby purchased for me for my birthday. Only two stars for me for the fix to both receipts even tho they were not purchases at this location. Purchased some jewelry while on vacation. I originally went to the one by the Moana Surfrider. Took a look and found some pieces. I went back the day before we left to purchase. But they were completely swamped so we decided to go to the Ala Moana location. Shania was amazing from start to finish! Estimated ship was end of December but it was shipped and received just before Christmas! Fast forward to two weeks ago when the clasp from the bracket broke after only wearing it less than a handful of times. If you're into island style jewelry, you probably know that Na Hoku has an amazing selection of gorgeous stuff. I actually don't go in the store too often, since I'm so tempted by everything in there. However, I have to review to thank SallyAnn, who helped me both on the phone and in person with a rather difficult request: finding and ordering a "retired" earring to replace one that my niece recently lost. SallyAnn was so helpful and encouraging when I called last week to see if they could possibly find a replacement earring. The earrings were purchased at least 2 years ago, so I was not optimistic that we'd be able to find a replacement. They weren't anywhere I could find them online. When my sister asked the Portland, OR location if they could try to locate a matching earring, they were not helpful at all. But SallyAnn asked me to email photos of the orphan earring, and she would get back to me about them. When she was able to locate a replacement, I did have to go into the store on Sunday to fill out forms and pay for the replacement earring. I tried not to look, but yes, there's still gorgeous stuff in the cases! SallyAnn did all the hard paperwork, but she made sure that I also filled out the sweepstakes to win a waterfall pendant that they're giving away right now. That was very nice of her. If you lose one of a pair of Na Hoku earrings, keep in mind that you may be able to get a replacement. The closest physical Na Hoku store is in Northpark Mall in Dallas; that is about a 4-hour drive for me. Therefore, their web presence and customer service is essential in not only gaining me, but also for retaining me, as a customer. Na Hoku has far exceeded my expectations. I came upon them quite on a lark. Jewelry is my weakness, so whenever I see jewelry advertised, I LOOK. I saw an advertisement for their Hawaiian Slipper in the WSJ a while back and noticed it immediately. While I'm not to jump at any ad I see, I did my research and then took the plunge: I ordered that necklace I saw; I later learned a few things about Na Hoku and subsequently ordered other items. Selection: Na Hoku is, essentially, themed jewelry. It's beach and island-themed, but in an extraordinarily tasteful and elegant way. Classy designs that are varied and unique, from the beach to palm trees to turtles to elegantly-set pearls and many things in between. It is neither flashy nor opulent; rather, it is understated elegance. Also, Na Hoku offers many styles set in rose gold, which few jewelers offer. Construction: Stones are well seated and carriers on a pendant are thick enough to support and withstand years of wear and friction from a chain. Chains are well soldered so as not to break between links (even when pulled). Post earrings have a strong supportive post with an adequately-sized butterfly back that is appropriate for the size of the earring to avoid shifting. Gold is solid and not hollow. Delivery: Ordered items are insured and sent via FedEx; you must sign for the package when it arrives, but there is no distinctive marking on the box that it's come from Na Hoku. Apparently this is done for gift-giving reasons. Delivery was quick and on time. Customer service: A big shout-out to their customer service department, because Na Hoku really knows how to take care of its customers in this area. When the clasp broke on my necklace and I had great difficulty getting any local jeweler to replace it (at ANY cost) because it was rose gold, I finally broke down and called Na Hoku for help. Aghast, they immediately asked me to return the chain only to them (without the pendant attached) where they would put a lobster-clasp closure on it for free, refund my shipping to them and ship it back out to me FOR FREE. I've ordered several pieces from Na Hoku via the web. Each time has been a wonderful experience, and each time I'm extremely pleased with my new adornment. Their line has expanded recently to include a wider selection of items; I'm certain their quality is the same. I only wish they would open a store in the Houston, TX, area so I could see it all with my own eyes before I ordered (well, maybe that wouldn't be such a good thing, as I'd likely spend my entire paycheck there). No matter, Na Hoku is bookmarked as one of my shopping FAVORITES. I visit there often virtually, despite my desire that it could be physical instead. Purchased a dainty diamond cross over ring for $1k from the Lahaina store for Christmas and within a month one of the diamonds fell out. They wanted to charge me $200 to repair it and claimed I had damaged it. --- I wasn't going to shell out any more $ for this ring ---and instead, not do any further business with this store. At 6 months, the ring is missing another diamond and the ring broke off at the crossover joint. Overpriced garbage and 'lifetime warranty' is just an idea, rather than a reality. read more

Na Hoku has been "our jewelry store" since we found them on Kalakaua ave while on a staycation here on Oahu a few years back. We saw the storefront for years, but left it to the tourists. Then while on staycation we wandered in and really loved what we saw. More importantly, we met Beth an incredibly knowledgeable sales associate (manager?) who seemed to "know" exactly what my wife liked and what she'd enjoy wearing. It's like she has a super power or something. Since that fateful meeting I've returned to Na Hoku on several occasions to get my wife something special for Mother's Day, her birthday, our anniversary. Terrible customer service I've ever had before. I bought jewelry from them but had to return. Returned item was a new condition, never worn, rapped up carefully. Sent them back as USPS priority express "with the original receipt" within a week after purchased Called a customer service more than 3times to see update, sent a message to process the refund. I've been waiting for over a half year for them to take action. Received a message from them a few days ago... "Your package shipped via USPS, was marked as Delivered on March 5, 2020, 1:25 pm. However, after thorough research, we show no record of receipt of this package. We suspect this is because the waiver of signature per your authorization was exercised at the time of delivery." What I signed on USPS receipt and sent them a copy of it was "signature required". They kicked back my return and refund request by their "negligence" and "suspect". Never done deep research for customer. But suggested to fight with USPS not complain(?) to them. Of course I haven't gotten refund yet. I recommend all of you not to chose this irresponsible store, should go to the other faithful store. read more

This is a review of the chain store's customer service. Do not need anything after the sale, or else you'll pay for it or be denied. We've bought several expensive items from them over the years, but the simple pearl earrings on posts was what will keep us away now. Two big pearl earrings and one smaller one for the extra piercing in one ear; one of the big and the smaller one both had the pearl separate from the post several times; they would only repair then said they were separating due to normal wear and tear and wanted to charge us for the last repair. We are careful and this is not normal wear and tear, it is a faulty mounting system. Nice jewelry, higher than typical prices, but very poor support if you have a problem. My rating is based on their Customer Service and Return/Exchange Policy. I've bought numerous jewelry pieces for my wife both in stores when on island and thru the Na Hoku website. The latest purchase was from their website. I had ordered a pendant but mistakenly chose yellow gold instead of white. Per their Policy I returned using Express Mail w/in the specified timeframe (21 days) and asked to do an Exchange. I received an email from them a few days later confirming that they had received the pendant and my request for exchange. The email went on further to say that it would take up to 3 weeks to process the exchange! WHAT?? Are you kidding me?? Now if I was asking for a refund that's one thing--I get that it takes time for the funds to be credited back to the card/account. BUT--this was a 1:1 EXCHANGE---come on people!!! Surely if you can ship out an order on the same day and get that order to me in Alaska w/in 2 days you can most certainly do the same with the EXCHANGE!! Compared to other jewelry stores, we never felt any sales pressure. In fact, we went to the store three days in a row before we made our purchase. We really appreciated that, because we know nothing about jewelry and was kind of intimidated with the whole process. I have never been so disappointed in my life with what they call customer service. I sent my 14k gold pendant back for repair, the gold had become discoloured. I paid 45.00 to send it back to them, then they charged me 50.00 to ship it back to me and then a further 13.00 to clear customs. The actual cost of the repair was 20.00. This place is marvelous. The staff is very friendly and I never felt overwhelmed or constantly bothered like many other jewelry stores. They offer help, of course, but aren't constantly on you. Their collection is beautiful and quite unique. There are a lot of sea related pieces that are pretty amazing on top of their other collections. My husband and I got our wedding rings there. It was the only place that had a band like that one I got and I love it. Unfortunately it lost a diamond within a week of wear but I brought it in Sunday and it was returned to me fully restored as quickly as Wednesday! It was a manufacturing defect so I didn't have to pay which was great. I would have been very annoyed otherwise. They didn't let me down! None of the cookie cutter pieces one would find at every mall jewelry store. The staff is terrific. I never feel pressured or hounded, they will make suggestions based on need and not cost (several times suggesting the less expensive option) and always professional. So, the one thing I prize most highly as a collector is honesty. I walked down Ali'i Drive in Kona Kailua looking for opal stones and opal jewelry with my partner. We had been to 4 or 5 stores and purchased 2 pieces already at another shop when we came to Na Hoku. The woman we talked to was very well spoken and knew the history of the shop and showed us some very beautiful and expensive opal pieces that were gorgeous. But then she ruined it. She launched into a story about Hawaiian Opals.........How beautiful and magical....and I quote her...."Something about the lava on the island creates the most beautiful opals here." This is where she lost me. I have experienced this in tourist trap stores before, unscrupulous salesperson who thinks I'm young (I'm 42 but look 25 in a tee shirt) and dumb (I'm always happy and smiling) NO OPAL COMES FROM HAWAII! None!!!! 90% come from Australia and the rest from idaho, california and ethopia.... not Hawaii. To lie to a customer to make a good story and sell the piece based on lies is very unethical. This was no mistake of a young and unexperienced sales clerk this was a seasoned older woman, a manager...could ahve even been one of the owners. Shameful, not a care for the future of a customer or relationship. I live like 5 min. from the shop...I'm a part time local for 20 years, my famiy has a house really close to their shop even. They even lie to the locals.......damn. I love the Na Hoku pieces and their uniqueness but... My husband purchased the Bird of Paradise ring from the Aloha Collection of LeVian as my engagement ring (which was exactly what I wanted for us on Maui). I was stoked to have this unique ring! But only about a month later one of the blue stones fell out of the ring. I had to send it in to Oahu, their corporate repair center, and it took a month get back. It felt like forever after also waiting a month to get the ring resized for me to my pretty standard size 6 finger. So that was 2 months and a bit without the ring. Later on, when we married I got the dainty diamond band that compliments that ring, only to have the diamond on the far left fall out only a week later! I then had to send the diamond band in for another month. Why it takes so long I don't know, and I don't care either. To me this is unsatisfactory. Finally I got the wedding band back, and thought things were all good. Just 5 days ago now, the same exact diamond stone fell out of the wedding band again!! I can't believe it. And not only that but the bird of paradise engagement ring also became misshapen on the underside. It seems they had taken gold out of the underside thickness to make the stoppers that prevent the ring from turning around on your finger (special request). I totally would have just paid extra to get a proper durable ring with added gold. Now I am at the point where, even though it is still under warranty I will not take the rings back to them for repair. I won't get them back for 6 weeks!! I am paying an experienced goldsmith professional to fix both rings (around $80) so that hopefully stones won't fall out for a 3rd time and I can wear them comfortably. All that said, their workman/craftmanship is in question. Including the Oahu corporate center's customer service. Why does it take 6 weeks to resize a ring? Why do the stones keep falling out? Why do you think this is acceptable?! I will not be buying a Na Hoku pieces ever again, unfortunately because the service/repair expertise is just not there. The sales people are great and ever so helpful but they are at the mercy of corporate, apparently. And that's just not cool. read more

My first purchase from Ha Hoku for my wife was when we were on vacation in Maui. I purchased a ring, we had it sized and it was delivered sooner than we expected and she was thrilled with it. However, my second purchase was on-line in early March. This time it was a pendent necklace. I had it gift wrapped to give to my wife for our anniversary. I was aware of the 21 day return/exchange policy but unfortunately I didn't give the gift to my wife within the 21 day exchange/return policy. The pendent is beautiful and she is thrilled with it. However, the necklace that comes with it is very thin and the clasp is extremely small. I called customer service to ask if I could just exchange the necklace at the Na Hoku store near Chicago, and the answer was NO since the 21 days had lapsed. Needless to say, I am extremely disappointed and now I must buy another necklace that can be easily put on. If you are considering purchasing the Bird of Paradise pendent, please check out the necklace prior to buying. I am sure you will find out as we did the necklace that comes with the Bird of Paradise pendant is extremely thin and the clasp is so small, you have to have very small fingers to open the clasp. I am extremely disappointed in the customer service and probably won't buy from this store on-line again. read more

Bought my girlfriend a very expensive ring. I was assured that everything was covered under a lifetime warranty. Less than a year later and the gem fell out. When i brought my girlfriend back to the shop and discussed how we needed it to be repaired they said there was going to be a pretty high price to fix it. The representative explained that they use a water-soluble glue and that it was my girlfriends fault that the gem fell out. My girlfriend never wears this ring out unless we are going to an expensive dinner or something. Water a JOKE this company is! I had no choice but to send it in anyway and it's been 8 weeks and no word. Not even a letter, email or call to say they are working on it or nothing. Na Hoku you lost my business forever and i hope you lose others. You're nothing but a bunch of lairs and thief's! After spending thousands of dollars at this store, I tried to return a chain on an expensive necklace that I purchased for my wife. I just needed a longer one as the one I bought was too short. They actually said no. What? I will pay the difference if there is one. Nope they won't exchange it for another. They obviously don't care for returning customers. This is an update from my first review on Na Hoku customer service and warranty of their work. After Na Hoku Customer Service reached out to me from my Yelp review, they offered me a $100 gift certificate to their stores but I declined the gift certificate as if they wanted to give me something I wanted a credit/refund on the cost we had to pay ($345) to have my ring repaired my ring, when we were told when purchasing the ring it came with a lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Na Hoku declined this (or should say they never responded to my email) to credit me this cost. BUT it has gotten worse, the fee of $345 we paid to have the stone replaced and per Na Hoku to also have the inlays replaced, a stone has come out again!! That same stone placement on the ring where the first stone came out, has come out AGAIN!! Less than 6 months having the ring with complete new inlays replaced, the stone in the same placement comes out again!! I have emailed Na Hoku Customer Service twice with photos showing them a stone came out again and stating this was the same placement of where the first stone came out and this has happened again! After two detailed emails with photos, I have been 6+ weeks waiting for an email response back and Na Hoku has still not responded to my email - ignoring my emails! I went to this store several times and I noticed the customer service quality depends on who's working there. I've bought a few rings from there. Some of them don't greet you and they usually pay more attention to tourists. I go there only when I plan on buying a gift. I stopped going because it's the last time I can stand that. The last time I had to flag a worker down after waiting for 20 minutes. None of them even stopped to say "I'll be right with you" or anything. I wonder if the good workers ever report the others for not trying to help a customer out. read more
