I came here with my family on the same Saturday the Christkindmart was happening, so we were expecting somewhat of a wait. We waited about 30 minutes for our table at the bar which was not an issue. What was kind of weird was that there were a bunch of empty tables all around the restaurant, yet we still could not be seated. Maybe they were just understaffed that day which is why they could not have every table full? But anyways, once we got to our table, the food came pretty quickly. We went to the rooftop here yesterday for drinks and they had a great setup. They had plenty of bartenders serving and lots of space upstairs to sit and socialize. Okay first of all, we were not allowed to split our checks 3 ways... that's absolutely ridiculous. We were ONLY allowed to split 2 ways evenly. That's honestly absurd. I have never been to a place where we weren't allowed to split our checks. Very frustrating. I agree with the rest of the reviews saying this place was meh. I appreciated the fact that it's a very community-oriented place, but very loud and party themed. My friends and I wanted to sit and eat out for Saturday night and this place looked cool, but unfortunately it was just too loud if you want to chat and have a meal. The chips and salsa were good, but that's the most I would pay for. The drinks are good, but again overpriced for how much alcohol is actually in them-they are pretty sweet. The service was slow with no explanation. After the host seared us, it took 10-15 minutes before anyone came over to our table. Mas is meh. I love Mexican food so was definitely up to trying this place out and came away pretty disappointed. It gets LOUD with the music so expect that. They have a first and second floor bar so you have plenty of space for your happy hours and the service seemed pretty responsive. But they ask for prime prices for just okay food and drink. My house margarita was pretty basic and just chock full of ice. The chimichanga was more greasy than crispy and 75% undercooked rice vs 25% chicken and veg. I think the worst sin was charging $1.50 just for some salsa verde on the side. Really? I will say the bathroom was awesome, a heater on the floor and it was the cleanest I have seen any place in a very very long time. The food tasted good, I recommend fajitas because the chicken and veg were well charred. The fundido was also yum. But I just can't say it was worth the noise and price to return. read more

I didn't like that there was only outdoor seating, wish there was something written on their website about that, since it was seriously hot outside when I went at like 5 pm on a weekday. I've lived in West Chester for three years, and when factoring in when I went to WCU and have been in the borough for 18 years. I've seen restaurants come to be, and fall. I've seen restaurants change for the better and worse. There's one consistent factor: Mas' roof is awesome. Now they've taken it a step farther from "back in the day". The managers and bartender staff are beyond exemplary. It couldn't be more obvious that they care about their customers, but they are also extremely efficient and hard working. There are a lot of great bars in West Chester, but Mas has to be a stop. Get the nachos. Get the Signature Margarita. Enjoy the ambiance. You won't regret it. It's worth it. read more

Disappointed with our experience. We have eaten here 5-6 times over the past 10 years and we always want it to be better. Drinks - extremely weak. Sent back 2 mojitos and 2 margaritas before the manager made them. Tasted as if they had no alcohol. Food - took way too long to come out. Overall just average Mexican. The rooftop dining area is a cool experience and worth stopping in for the view of downtown. The queso dip was nice and thick and had a nice flavor. The wings were fantastic! I would honestly go again just for them. The buffalo was very flavorful and had a nice amount of spice. The honey Chipotle were also very nice. The tacos are the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. The meat on the Al Pastor and Carne Asada were both really dry. My friend wanted to have her birthday here so we made reservations for a group of 10 an entire week in advance. The night of her birthday comes and they sat us at one 6 top and a 4 top... split up! We kindly asked if we could push the tables together so we could all enjoy this celebration Together, as our reservation was made for 10. They said no. NO? There were Maybe 3 other tables sat in the entire restaurant, so they were not busy at all and they gave us no explanation for not allowing us to sit together even though they allowed us to make a reservation for 10. I showed them an empty table right next to us which could be slid 3 feet to accommodate us and they still told us no. And no one sat at that empty table the entire time we were there! Food was overpriced and average. Tacos are smaller than my hand. Our server knew nothing about the menu. We asked questions about drinks, she had no idea. We asked questions about the food, she had no idea. She told us she would go back and ask and half the time when she came back she forgot to even ask! The worst part was that after we were done, they started pushing many tables together for a party of over 20. We were there maybe an hour and they refused to accommodate our Reservation for 10 for a Birthday! But had no issues rearranging the entire first floor for another party. Just absolutely incompetent and clueless staff who don't want to be there and don't care to make your time enjoyable or honor their reservation policy. One star. My daughter ate here last week and called fo tell me about her mediocre food. We decided to give them another chance today. The chips and salsa aren't free like at other re staurants and are okay. The nachos with chicken were actually good. Her chimichangas were bland. The sauce on top tasted like spaghetti sauce. It is a welcoming spot, where ambience, and amenability and culinary pleasures create great happiness within me! During the past nine years I have tried almost everything on the menu, so rather than compose an extensive catalogue I shall confine myself to the highlights of my cantina hauntings. The Chorizo Queso Fundido is a perfect beginning to every meal. The fulsome lusciousness of the dip creates in the imagination a wish to pour it over a chimichanga during the next course; anything to continue to experience its flavor. One cannot go astray in choosing any of the "minis" or the luxuriant guacamole either, so there exists a vast landscape of nibbles or paquitos through which to travel. On to the entrees, which fill the belly with bliss. The Kitchen Sink Burrito is an explosion of flavors, healthy and hearty fare to fuel your adventures further into the day or night. Likewise, the flavor ensemble within a Breakfast Burrito makes an exceptional start to any weekend afternoon. Tacos may be ordered a la carte or via multi-trays, and truly they are all exceptional. Basics such as the Veg, El Taco, Carne Asada or Al Pastor are just as tasty as the Blackened Mahi or Sesame Short Rib tacos. The enchiladas are my favorites East of the Mississippi, saucy and scrumptious, and the Mole here is really the only chicken based dish that I enjoy eating. It is that good! The strength of the fajitas lies in their fresh ingredients, pulled from local farms and oozing amazing flavor! One cannot visit a cantina multiple times without sampling margaritas, and there are myriad choices from which to choose at Mas. All of the classic styles are served, with your choice of tequilas which run the range from white lightning to top-of-the-tower shelf. The Blood Orange Margarita is delicious, and if Natasha mixes a Black Raspberry Margarita for you, then you may just be inspired to write an original song on your bar napkin! The Roof is an exceptionally fun time in the Summer, really a great place to marinate in Mas' delights. The Second Story Bar has a more intimate, comfortable feel, and has the vibe of a cool midrange L.A. mecca of Mexicana. We ordered 3 drinks. sat around for about 15 minutes until the server came over to take our food orders and to tell us the bar was backed up. they then brought us over the chips and queso we ordered... but no chips. we had to wait for those. they brought out food out and we looked around and saw all the tables around us got there after us and already had their food and their drinks. meanwhile we still did not have our drinks. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 during COVID-19. My fiancé, my sister and I were walking around downtown West Chester today and wanted to stop for a snack. Mas has a rooftop deck so we decided to check that out since it was a nice afternoon and we hadn't been to this restaurant yet. When we walked in on the first level, two hostesses explained the rules about dining in: masks on at all times, food must be purchased if consuming alcoholic beverages, and no socializing/moving around table-to-table. All pretty standard and fine by us. She then opened the door to the stairwell and told us to see the hostess on the roof. We were seated right away which was nice. The hostess brought paper menus and wrapped silverware with her so we could start figuring out what we wanted. I do wish the tables were a little further apart, but I'm not sure if they can move them. I ordered the Mas Signature Frozen Margarita as my drink. It was good - a little bland but overall nice on a sunny day. I also tried a few sips of the Blood Orange Margarita and the Black Raspberry Margarita which seemed like good options as well. We got nachos to share and added Carne Asada. I really liked how the chips stayed crispy, but that was partly because a lot of them underneath didn't have any toppings. It might be nice to get a little cup of salsa or some other sauce on the side for dipping. I thought the quality of the steak was really good - it was seared nicely on the outside and still a little rare in the center. Although we only tried a few things here, we had an overall pleasant experience. If you're looking for a quick bite and a beverage on a warm day, I think the roof of Mas Cantina is a solid option. read more
