Real authentic Greek food! Reminds me of my dads old Greek restaurant he had. I had saganaki, and for dinner the gyros platter, rice with lamb sauce on top, Greek green beans and feta fries! When I lived in Dearborn, Mykonos was mine and my husband's routine breakfast place on the weekends. It wasn't too long before it also became our favorite lunch and carry-out place as well. Since we moved to the east side, we truly miss the people, the food and the atmosphere, so we try to get back as often as possible. The owners are nothing short of amazing! They are kind, generous and remember us when we come back no matter how long it has been. On occasion, they will even sit with us and have conversation, which is always a special treat. THE LAMB I am a big fan of a good gyro sandwich, but as someone who should not have wheat, Mykonos also offers a delicious and LARGE gyro salad or gyro platter. Loaded up with delicious lamb, marinated for hours and cut right off the shank, you will not find better, dare I say anywhere? These three dishes are my most often ordered. I always have leftovers and the price is completely on point for what you get. I recommend the green beans as a side, and the rice with red sauce. Their use of dill makes everything taste that much better. THE TZATZIKI You may refer to it as cucumber sauce. Either way, the tzatziki sauce is always fresh with real chunks of cucumber right in it. It's amazing. Once you have had theirs, no one else's will compare. THE OTHER FOODS I have honestly never had anything at Mykonos that I disliked. As a matter of fact, I have thoroughly enjoyed every dish I have had. From the variety of breakfast burritos (great hangover food), to the beef stroganoff, to the breakfast skillets, to the liver and onions, and everything in between, these folks know how to prepare and cook a great meal! My husband's stand-by is the Slim Jim, and I have to admit it is the best one I have ever had as well. MYKONOS STYLE If you are feeling a bit adventurous, order your fries Mykonos style. They sprinkle them with lemon juice, feta and I believe it is thyme...for fries TO DIE FOR! They are amazing! You can also get your hash brown Mykonos style, meaning they add fried onions and shredded cheese. My hubby never passes on those. THE SERVICE These ladies are the best! Many of the service staff have been there for years. My husband and I have our own preferred table and they always know when we walk in that we will just seat ourselves (if it's not too busy). They always greet us with warm smiles and questions about how we are. QUICK TIP Before you order, check out the chalkboard near the delivery window. It has a list of all the 86ed items, or items they have run out of. Prevents disappointment in ordering. Doesn't happen often that they are out of something I want, but I always check. PRICE I am a true believer in the old adage that you get what you pay for, and at Mykonos, they give you the best possible deal on high quality food. Are they more expensive than a run-of-the-mill coney on the corner? Yes. A bit. And thank God because the food is also a million times better. I have been there over 10 times beginning in 2001 when I first moved to the "West side". I was a little disoriented about where it was not to mention that they changed the entrance but I'm sure it's the same place especially now that they have a really nice sign lol I'm a foodie and I've also been to Greece about 10 times (and I've been eating Greek food about 45 years) just to give you context. Mykonos has a very wide variety of offerings but I can't say I've ever had anything that wasn't terrific. I took my family there a few months ago after the Opera (on our way home and convenient off the freeway) and everyone loved their choices. They were good with the kids and offered things for carb watching and foodie types alike. Their salads are always tasty and fresh and Yanni makes great Greek dressing too. Tonight we had the Mykonos French fries and those are a favorite too. It's a but of a hole in the wall but I'm not one for pretentious or overpriced food so that's probably why I like this place so much. Yanni is also very congenial and always there which is why I think things are so consistent. B/f got part of his pork chop dinner for his lunch so many entrees are good for more than 1 meal. I went there for a pick up order and got there before my order was ready . the owner said it would be a few minutes. He was cashing out customers then went directly to the salad station and reached into the containers with his bare hands and filled my carry out boxes while i was watching. i immediately called him out in front of the whole restaurant. he just looked at me with no response . Once again, another 3 1/2 star review in actuality, but i will lean with 4 starts because of 1 thing: Gyro. That gyro was really really on point. Everything about it, makes it one of my favorite gyros going (in a tie with Olga for my personal favorite right now) and it is a big gyro as well (they do offer extra meat for 1.75 extra but if you did that, they mite as well just give you the whole sheep). I also had the loose burger and chili cheese fries here, which both to me was above average/good, just had better in both departments. Overall i would come here again, because they do give you good portions, and they do have a big menu with more stuff i want to try (my fiancee had there wet burrito and loved it so hey). read more

Pleasant little coffee shop done in a Greek Village motif. Unpretentious food and good service make this restaurant a nice place to meet old friends and sit a spell. Going to keep this short and sweet ordered the gyro sandwiches to go one for myself and my friend man these where the best gyros we had in years don't eat them often. But when we try other places they are using the heat and served strips of meat not cut off the cone poor taste and texture also some of the places that cut the meat off the cone are using very low quality cone with a lot of filler but this place is close to as original you can get these days the sauce is home made original he best we had fresh cut tomatoes and fresh cut onions keep up the good work read more

This place is a favorite of my wife and her friends. They enjoy meeting here. I find the decor to be a bit on the dated side, but I don't come for the decor. I like their fried fish dinners. The breading is light and crispy. It isn't too bready. The fish is cooked just right. It is tender and moist. read more

I'm not a salad snob but I am a bit particular about them. I'm not sure how to articulate it more than saying the lettuce has to be crisp and the chicken needs to be warmed. I guess it's sort of an eyeball test and these guys pass it. I'm also a breakfast burrito maven so this place has me sold. Service is always good and pricing is fair. This place is great! It's the classic Greek diner with a broad range of Greek dishes like gyros and kebabs to the diner fare of burgers and a nightly special. We went on a Monday night and it was surprisingly busy, but given that almost all the entrees are under $10 and the sandwiches are around $5, I really shouldn't have been surprised. We got the chicken kebab plate, which includes pita bread, rice, and vegetables, and the gyro sandwich, both of which were steaming hot and well seasoned. The portions were pretty large, but my California self keeps reminding me this is typical for Michigan. I also had a cup of split-pea soup, which was the perfect amount of mashed peas, chunks of ham and vegetables. Nothing says comfort like that! The only reason I give them 4 instead of 5 stars is that we ordered the Scordalia, a garlic dip, with fried artichokes, and it just wasn't garlicky enough. That and it seemed to be too akin to mashed potatoes than a dip... Look for the great murals on the walls of various scenes from Mykonos. You really can't go wrong here. read more

I will say, the lamb shank was well seasoned and was falling off the bone, as it should be, but everything else about the restaurant was mediocre at best. Yes, the restaurant looks and smells clean, but the service we received was more than enough of a reason for us to never go back again, especially with so many other places we can choose from within a short distance from there (one right across the street). Either the owners have become complacent or simply don't care, but the bottom line is, if the service is going to suck, you really need to step up the ante on the food to stand out from your competition. And, as of right now, Mykonos' food is far from standing out from the nearby coney islands. If you're looking for good service and good food, don't bother with this one. read more

I eat here at least once a week when I'm working. I can honestly say that I've never had a bad meal here. The lemon pepper walleye is my go to meal and it never disappoints. The owner is extremely friendly and will sit and visit with you when you come In. Just be ready to eat because they are generous with the portions and sides that come with your meal. read more

My family and friends have been coming here since Mykonos opened. The food is excellent. I love their grilled pork chops. Their avgolemono soup is one of the best I've ever had at a restaurant. In general, all their soups are very good. If they happen to have the lamb chops on the menu, get it. Their lamb chops are the best. Better than anything Greektown has to offer (and that is saying a lot) and at a much better price. Also, their Grilled Chicken Greek Salad is excellent. I would suggest ordering the small portion rather than the large because the small is pretty huge. Whenever we take someone here, they always want to come back. When we walked in I was shocked. Everything looked great, it looked futuristic. We waited for a while but our food was great, except my uncle had a rotten tamato in his salad. The bill was rather expensive but it wasn't that bad. We were served by a lady named Collene, she was extremely nice. She was antenive. The bathroom was clean. While I've been to Mykonos quite a bit, today I went for breakfast and I'll never go again - for breakfast. I order 2 eggs and requested that the white be cooked, bacon and hash browns. The eggs were overcooked so that even the yolk was hard and the bacon surely was not fresh cooked. It looked like it had been sitting there just waiting to be warmed. I've been to this restaurant and their beef barley soup is phenomenal and their slim jim sandwich is really good, too. Breakfast? Not so much. read more

I have been eating here for 10 years and they never cease to amaze me! Me and my family always say "when in doubt, go to Mykonos!" Anything I have ever ordered has been great. You can tell the cooks and the owner love what they do and that they cook from their heart. I am not Greek but I am guessing that if I was, this is how my grandma would cook! The french toast is perfect, the spaghetti is great, and the Greek food is as good as something you would get at a restaurant in Greek Town. The portions are large too. The place is clean and welcoming. It is usually packed on the weekends, so you know it is good! Also, kids get a FREE spaghetti dinner on Tuesdays. All in all, I love it! read more

My wife and I just had breakfast here this morning (2/7/2016) and it was goooood! She had the spinach omelette with swiss and hash browns, and I had the eggs benedict with hashbrowns Mykonos style (add cheddar and onions). Both were well prepared; the hollandaise sauce tasted homemade and the Mykonos hashbrowns were tasty. Service was really quick and friendly, which is always appreciated. After hockey (Downriver), one of my boys wanted a gyro. Detroit is teeming with good gyro places, so we turned to Yelp and Mykonos was not too far and had good ratings. We headed up to the restaurant and, as we walked in, we saw that most of the tables were occupied. I looked at my oldest boy and said "OK, that's a good sign." Our friendly waitress recommended the Polish Dining Extravaganza (or something like that), saying "it's a ton of great food." With a 2 hr drive to get back home ahead of me, that didn't sound prudent. But what did was the gyro. The three of us ended up ordering 2 gyros, fries, onion rings, a mini-greek salad, and a kids fish/chips. Now...I can eat. I can eat a lot. And as this food was coming out, I thought to myself "Holy $hit...this is a lot of food." The three of us ended up with a staggering amount of food. Color me pleasantly surprised. Let's cut to the chase. The mini-Greek salad...there's nothing "mini" about it. That was a big-boy sized serving. The gyros were fantastic, and relatively large. I've had better gyro meat, but this stuff was great and the portions were stunning. The fries...they were just ordinary fries, but you got a lot of them. The onion rings were amazing. But the best, seriously, was the kid's fish/chip plate. It was the best fried fish I've had in years. So, summarizing...very good food, amazing and attentive service, and portions that were over the top. Next season, when we find ourselves Downriver, we're going to be heading back to Mykonos, for sure. Highly recommended. read more

We love this place. One of our 1st stops when we land at DFW. We have had lots of good stuff over the years, but this particular trip we loved the Soup! Split pea, navy bean, lemon chicken, all awesome. Our typical favorite fare includes: Saganaki, spanakopeda, gyros. Again, Awesome. Nice diner, polite, professional & efficient servers. Love their gyro or chicken Greek salad, the dressing is creamy and delicious. They also make really good soups. This is your typical Coney Island type restaurant as far as breakfast goes, but a lot of their lunch/dinner food is homemade.
