Mykita Mylon...the worst excuse for glasses...and they cost over $600. They have lead me to become one of "those people" who I thought were being over the top and whose reviews I would ignore. I saw them at an Ed Beiner glasses store in Miami (Brickell area) and bought them in November of 2020. I was initially drawn to them because they had an unusual matte brown finish, which I was told was because they were 3d printed. I wasn't overly enthused by that since all that did was emphasize that they were plastic. Just the same, I went ahead and got them, thinking at that price they would last. Within the first year I went back to the store twice because the arms on the frame came off at the hinges. The hinge doesn't use screws, but the assembly became wobbly over time and the metal section attached to the frame separated from the frame and resulted in the tiny curved metal component connecting the frame to the arm flying out and getting lost. I went back to the store twice for this problem and it was replaced free or charge each time. The frames still now felt cheap and wobbly. The second time back I remarked to the store clerk that the frames were changing color from brown to green!They are no longer their original color. The lens are plastic, which I did not realize at the time, so the whole thing feels cheap - particularly now that there is a minor scratch on the lens. I'm writing this now because the arm came off again for the third time and the metal spring is again gone. I called Ed Beiner and the warranty on the glasses expired in late 2021. I will go and pay to get it fixed so I can use these at home so the $600 is not a total loss. It's a lesson, but I would recommend against these Mykita glasses which really turned out to be crap. Yes, I'm venting, but if you paid $600 for them so would you! Cannot believe these people would sell these. They cannot have cost more than $10-15 to make the frame read more

Mykita makes the best frames for prescription sunglasses. Mykita has been my favorite sunglass frame since I discovered them in a frame store Newton, MA a few years ago. I was delighted when I accidentally stumbled on a dedicated Mykita store in NYC. They were not even in Yelp. I got to register them as a new business. Their Mykita frame selection was better than I had ever seen before as the whole store is dedicated to this brand. They specialize in screwless stainless steel designs. The also have a new 3D printed line. Purchased a new pair of sunnies and am very happy to have found this store. read more

I have been wearing Mykita frames for almost ten years now and still have every pair I've bought. Yesterday I traveled 200 miles to the Soho store so I could try on everything I wanted and got great service from Lee. Got a few of my older frames adjusted too. I am extremely careful with eyeglasses, and have never had a problem with them. I used to buy other brands - not quite as expensive but still much more than what many people buy - and have never been 100% satisfied. I will keep buying Mykita because I'm always happy with them. I've bought two frames over the years at the Soho store, both Mylon. Each one had hinge issues. The older one detached and it was repaired free of charge. When it happened again, I sent them to the store and again they were repaired at no cost. Knowing that the hinge thing would happen again, I asked about more recent models and was told that the new design addressed the issue. Yes, the old issue is gone but only to be replaced with a new issue. The carbon fiber hinge clip on the new Mylons seems to lose its tension after a few months of wear and can suddenly lose hold of the temple. This happened a few times and I went to a local, fantastic optician called Spectacle in Toronto and they replaced the carbon fiber clip. But it's still loose. Are there different sizes of clips? The Soho store staff have been great each time I visit for repairs or to try on new frames. Unfortunately, the manufacturing and design faults undermine Mykita's reputation. At such lofty prices, it should do more to improve the product durability. Perhaps German engineering is not so great after all. read more

MYKITA glasses are super expensive, and I am not a delusional person who believes, across the board, the adage "you get what you pay for." But with MYKITA, you actually do. The SoHo store is modern and minimalist, with clean white walls and frames on showcased on individual platforms throughout the store. The diverse (in terms of personal style) staff is very friendly and not the least bit pushy; the staff showcase the fact that MYKITA is designed for every face and every expression of style. While I was shopping, the other customers included a teenaged boy, a middle-aged woman and a group of young fashionista's -- which is to say their clientele is pretty diverse, too. But I think we're all drawn to MYKITA's superb craftsmanship, lightweight feel and attention to detail. MYKITA frames are almost weightless; they are like wearing contact lenses in glasses form, but the shapes are extremely flattering to almost anyone's face or personal style. They make frames that are very subtle and ones that are avant-garde -- in a variety of materials. And everything in between. Every employee I have interacted with at MYKITA is knowledgeable and not pushy -- a rarity when shopping for what some would consider "luxury" eyewear. The staff is not snobby, nor do they attempt to use a script to convince you that MYKITA are the best or most interesting glasses. They let the frames speak for themselves. MYKITA does use very high end lenses, which are also very expensive. But I opted for Trivex, which is ultra lightweight and thin, and paid the same amount of money for them that I would at any other optical shop. (Trivex are amazing lenses, with unmatched visual acuity). I am an admitted glasses addict, but MYKITA is my favorite line by far. You have to try them on to experience why. I bought my Mykita frames 3 years ago and the nose piece snapped off. I loved my frames - they were lightweight and comfortable, which is especially important given how heavy my lenses are (I have a high prescription). I would have expected the frames to last longer/the nosepieces to have been built more sturdily given how expensive they were. read more

My husband and I are avid fans of Mykita, albeit our experience prior to going to the shop was at retailer. Let's start with Russell and Jack. They were both very professional and shared valuable knowledge on their product they were promoting. They both had an engageable personality which exudes a great welcoming feature rarely seen at shops, stores, etc. Our glasses were collected today, 03/16/19 and we left so happy and are so willing to come next year and wipe out our FSA again with the shop at once. So happy with the service and with staff's dedication in adhering with the mission and vision of Mykita! They also referred us to a great place for our prescriptions in Chinatown. What we hope what will happen in 2020 is that we could get our ophthalmologist services in one setting. Plus, a new person in the White House. Regardless we'll return next February.q read more

I have owned two pairs of Mykita eyewear (Prescription glasses). I liked my first one so much that when visiting NYC last christmas I went to their store in NYC and bought another pair. Carl was a very knowledgeable person and helped a lot. I told him I want to eventually send them my new frames so that they could do my prescription. He measured everything via a very sophisticated Zeiss machine and told me when I get my new prescription they will do the rest. Last week I got my new prescription and sent them an email that I'm ready, just give me a quote for the price. Got a response from Mary that we need your actual prescription in order to give you a quote. I sent them my prescription and told them I want Zeiss lenses with anti-reflection coating and transition coating (lenses that change color in light). She got back to me with a $790 for the Zeiss lenses and a $140 for a transition lenses. That is $930 total. That is twice the price of Zeiss lenses here in Los Angeles!!! Absolutely ridiculous. I got the same exact thing in L.A. and paid $324!!! Also, every 6 months or so the (famous) hinges on the glasses become loose and have to be tighten. Only Mykita dealers can do this since it requires a special tweezer that only authorized dealer have. So if you're in places or cities that don't have Mykita dealers and your $450 frame becomes loose good luck!!! These are the things you never hear about in advertisements. I've had 7 years experience with these frames, but unfortunately for the price they don't last well. Yes, if you're super rich and can afford to change frames every year or so they're absolutely great to have! Just my two cents! read more

Beautiful store and overall very courteous and helpful staff. I lost my Einar frames that I'd had for over a year and was looking to replace them with the same model because they are really fantastic. The same woman helped me a few times and we located the identical frames that had since been discontinued. No complaints but just be warned that when filling prescription lenses in-house, you are opting for a very high quality Zeiss lens that has a price to match. I pre-paid for my lenses before even seeing their optometrist, and upon deciding that maybe I would get the lenses filled elsewhere for cheaper, I was informed that the $390 I had paid for the lenses was non-refundable and I could only get store credit that I did not want or need. It seemed as if they were going to be very unreasonable even though nothing had gone into production and there would be no loss to them. Ended up going with it because it seemed way more of a hassle to try to compromise with them or find comparable lenses elsewhere. So just note -- no refunds. My suggestion would be to buy the frames with Mykita and take them with you to fill elsewhere. In any case, the only glasses I'll ever wear! Superbly crafted and virtually unbreakable frames. read more

Their glasses seem nice, because they're so light and flexible, and they're so expensive you expect them to last for years. Then they don't. Within three years I've had the hinges for BOTH ear pieces break, meaning the entire side piece of the glasses detached from the lens, and the one I had replaced (at a cost of $100) is on the verge of breaking AGAIN less than a year after I had it fixed. I literally do nothing with my glasses other than wear them all day and then put them on my nightstand at night, so there is NO reason they should be breaking this much. I will NEVER buy these flimsy, expensive, piece of crap glasses again and you shouldn't waste your money either. read more

MYKITA SOHO has lost my support -- and THEY ARE LOSING MY NEW $2000 GLASSES AND READING GLASSES ORDER. I have never posted a report before, but when they don't stand by their product, i find this bad business practice - especially when you can have this customer for life. HERE THEY HAVE LOST 2 CUSTOMERS - HIM AND ME. AND EVERY FRIEND & COLLEAGUES, I WILL WARN NOT TO BUY THERE. Extremely disappointed in the $800 reading glasses i bought my boyfriend. -the wire hinges keep breaking -- 4 x in one year -- including while traveling leaving him embarrassed fumbling to read business documents at important finance meetings with one hinge broken -- Once again. the staff is blaming him of abusing, & this is why i am motivated to write as this was the final straw. he works on the computer mostly, so this is incredibly annoying. the staff at mykita keep tightening & fixing -- but they need to replace them as the frames are clearly defective -- after 4 x repairing in one year-- and not keep implying the blame on him. extremely disappointed in the soho store - read more

I purchased a pair of Mykita sunglasses 2 years ago. The arms have just now fallen off for the 3rd time. The 2 first times I went to the SoHo shop to get them re-attached. They glued them back on to the folding hinges, but not without leaving fingerprints fused into the plastic which I didn't mention to them, but I feel they must have noticed. For a pair of $6-700 + cost of prescription lenses, I was hoping for better quality. Also, I have barely been using them (maybe 20-30 times), I wear normal glasses from Mikli and have done that for years and never had one single problem. I feel I know how to take care of glasses, but this is just not worth the aggravation. read more

I own several pairs of Mykita's and came in here to get hinges repaired on a pair of Mykita Mylon, Pantera model that were damaged on a recent trip. The gentleman that helped me was extremely courteous and helpful. (tall, thin, with light color hair and gold framed mykita's). He replaced the hinges for free and even cleaned off the sticky residue that was from a temporary band-aid fix I did. This salesman knows the products well and gave me some good advice on a potential frame I was considering purchasing. Overall, a very pleasant experience. Thank you! read more

The best Frames, styling and technically state of the art materials and fabrication. I recently had a pair of 3 year old Elizabeth frames in Puddle that had gotten knocked off my face and crushed at a concert when I was crowd surfed! The glasses have become my trademark and I was devastated to find out that they were no longer available. However, the staff at Mikita Crosby became engaged with my problem, which was the frame and color that were both discontinued. Carl Cameau Jr went totally out of his way to contact Mikita's Berlin HQ to have the hipster elves there track down (and I suspect 3D print) the frames and now I am an extremely happy lady. The glasses there may be pricey, but worth every penny because they are QUALITY. Thank you friends at Mikita and their commitment to helping me re-locate my design. read more

MYKITA NY's customer service is phenomenal. I live overseas and was visiting the city, I had a problem with a loosening earpiece on my much-loved reading glasses. Safiya had a look, tried to adjust it and told me I would need a replacement part from Berlin to be completely safe. Panic. Could it be done before I left? But I was in great hands. First, she replaced the silicone bits that were showing their age. Then, she phoned me every step of the way, keeping me informed about the part, arrival in NY, how long it would take for my glasses to be repaired and to reach me, what date they had shipped, and bingo. They made it with time to spare. I have never had such attentive service at a NY establishment. Congrats to MYKITA. read more

Mykita, in Soho, is hands down the best after purchase customer service provider I have ever encountered. I live nearby, and bought a very delicate pair of glasses and they have adjusted and repairied them on a regular basis. One time I brought them in for an adjustment to the frames and they noticed a scratch on the lenses and determined the lenses were still under warranty. They replaced the lenses without my asking them to, and I could not be happier or more appreciative of their "go the extra mile" attitude toward customers. I will never shop anywhere else. read more
