The staff who work at the(Westville) New Haven CT location are incompetent. I scheduled an appointment 2 months out because thats what was available. I was told i would receive a confirmation call the day before with the cost for my eye exam. I called them the morning of since i hadn't received a call. I spoke to Ruth Ann who scheduled my appointment in person, she tells me "im sorry, i dont know what happened". I reschedule the appointment over the phone with Ruth Ann, I stated my concern about the appointment she didn't schedule correctly while I was in front of her. She asked if i wanted to schedule with someone else, and i said "i just want my appointment scheduled correctly". So here it is 2 days before the appointment and i get a confirmation call from Andrew confirming the date and time which was 9 a.m. Then i get a confirmation text saying my appointment is at 10 a.m. When i called and spoke to Andrew all he could say is "there is someone else who has been in the 9 o'clock time slot". No shit because you guys dont know how to do your jobs properly. I cant speak for the doctors there, but the front staff needs work on how to schedule properly. If I could give them 1/1,000,000 of a star it would be generous. I have treated my glasses so carefully - always gentle, keep them in the case - and two frames from them broke in just over two years. Because the arm came loose from the frames in both pairs they can't be repaired. It's not that the screw fell out; there's not enough or strong enough glue to hold the arm to the frame (see photo). Fortunately, I bought the warrantee, but that was only good for the first pair. The second pair - well, too bad - comes out of my pocket. I have Husky insurance. Most of us on Husky are very poor. Then, I found out that they record your telephone conversations which is illegal and I talked to Dr. Chris about that. Dr. Chris is a wonderful eye doctor but Colleen is wrecking the practice. I came in for an eye appointment. The office informed me I had 250$ of VSP credit. They were very excited about this. They said I have to use it or lose it. Of course, they didn't say I had until November of that year (I came in February) to use it. That should have been a red flag. As I already had a working pair of glasses, I picked out a frame for sunglasses from the rack and asked if I could get a new pair of frames of that kind. 4 weeks go by and I get a text asking me to come get my sunglasses. To my disappointment, they were the exact same frames that were on the rack. They were NOT new. They were scuffed, scratched up, and did not look nice. I asked why they didn't get new frames and they said it would take longer to do that. (Of course, that doesn't make sense, because 1. It still took 4 weeks, and 2. I did not agree to buy refurbished glasses.) If we left it there, I'd be fine leaving a 3 star review. But then they told me to come back in 6 weeks when they could order a new pair of frames rather than the off-the-rack scuffed ones. 6 weeks later I show up, and they show me the same. Exact. Frames. They claimed I agreed to purchase as is and claimed to have no knowledge of wanting new frames. Whether inadvertent or deliberate incompetence, these people are untrustworthy. I went about 6 months ago, everything was fine, nothing special, I've definitely had better experiences, but nothing terrible. I needed a followup appointment, so I scheduled for 6 months in the future as they recommended. As it's about a week away I get a text message confirming my appointment, which I do using the provided link. A few days later I get a voicemail asking again for confirmation. I don't have time to call back, and then the next day I get another text asking for confirmation, which I again do. A day before the appointment I get another call asking to confirm. It is another busy day and I don't have time to call back. I arrive for my appointment on time and they tell me they've given it to somebody else as I didn't confirm. I tell them I already confirmed twice on the text messages they sent me, but it doesn't matter. I didn't receive any message saying that my appointment had been given to somebody else. Their systems don't work, I'm not going back, I'll find somebody that has a working approach to appointments. read more

There is a guy in there that assists you with finding glasses I felt that he was prejudice and that he don't care for African-American people I observed him be nice and pleasant with a Caucasian lady and then when it was my turn he made me wait he gave me an attitude and I was not pleased with his customer service when I returned for the second time again he made me wait he was giving a Caucasian customer A1 service and the lady at the front desk told me that he would be right with me well right with me never came the young lady I can't think of her name but she also assists with the eye where the glasses she came right out before she was about to go on her break and assisted me with picking up my glasses and tightening up two other Pier for me she did not hesitate she gave me a smile while this guy sat at the desk acting like he was doing something just so that he didn't have to take care of me he should not be working there I don't want to see anyone without a job but that job is not for him he only wants to help caucasians he doesn't want to help African American people and I almost said something to him but I'd rather do the review he really needs to change his attitude because we coming all colors and fashions looking for glasses if anybody else goes there observe him and watch how he move watch out here to jump for the Caucasian people that has regular insurance and at the time I had regular insurance now I have a state insurance because I'm disabled but he's a piece of work I don't ever want to deal with him it's not it's not going to stop me from going there but I definitely don't want to be dealing with him read more

I had a follow up question after my visit - after a month of phone calling, voicemail leaving, even stopping by the office I've received no response. I have never had such a poor optometry experience in the nearly 20 years I've been wearing glasses. My time with Dr Kaur was rushed, rude, and unprofessional. She immediately told me I was wearing a too strong prescription and listed the symptoms of a too strong rx (I have none of those symptoms) and as she rushed me through the vision check she repeatedly told me to "just blink and guess a letter". As I strained to see ANYTHING on the chart she told me I was over correcting and just trying to get a stronger prescription as if stronger glasses are like strong medications that people abuse. Overall the most condescending and unprofessional doctor I've ever seen. She gave me a pair of contacts that were my "correct" rx and I thought they must be blurry because my eyes were dilated but when I went out to my car and realized I couldn't read any of the building signs or street signs, I had to put my old "too strong" contacts in just to be able to drive safely home. I will never ever return to any My Eye Doctor location and can't believe I wasted my insurance coverage on an eye doctor who did not listen to a single word I said and rushed me into a prescription that is not correct. read more

My non-standard eyeglass frame lost a screw and one of the temples (arms) fell off. I went in and an optician, Vanessa, very kindly took 10 minutes and was able to locate a screw that held the arm in place temporarily until I could go to where I originally purchased the frames. And all of this with no charge. read more

Dr. Kelly Nguyen is a very good doctor, very through and precise. Explained everything we needed to know and also adviced my son on the possibility of wearing contact lenses for sports. Her assistant was also very good. Front sales staff was pleasant and nice to work with. The insurance person was a bit unfriendly as if my questions and making two other appointments for family members interrupted her work flow. That's two other doctor's visit and two more eyeglasses purchase. That's part of customer service and if not because of insurance coverage in our network, we wouldn't have considered your place. read more

Purchased a Groupon for $225 off a complete pair of glasses. Went to this location and found out I needed an eye exam first that the Groupon did not cover. When I was told their price for an exam I went to Walmart and got the exam done there for much less. Went back to MyEyeDr and was told that I could choose frames from one section of the wall where all frames were $130.00. Chose Jubilee 5928 Gunmetal 55/16/145. Chose a clear flat top Bifocal lenses that cost $129.00. Total was $259.00 and they discounted $229.00($4 more than the $225.00 allowed by Groupon). I had to pay $30.00. Seemed like a great deal. However I had to return to MYEYEDR 4 times because one of the lenses kept coming out of the frame. First time that popped it back in and returned them to me. Second and third time they put fish line/wire around the lens to keep it in there. Didn't work. Fourth time they said they put a bigger screw in there. Didn't work. In between the third and fourth time the spring on the frame broke. Couldn't keep the glasses on my face. Put shrink wrap around the arm of the frame where the spring was but now the frame couldn't bend or fold. MYEYEDR said they were beyond the warranty period so they would not fix...in fact said they most likely couldn't be repaired...I had to purchase a new frame. I decided to check online to see if I could buy new frames there. I found a site and purchased 2 exact same frames for $80.00. $40.00 apiece!!!! delivered!!!! By the time my new frames arrived the spring on the other side of the frame broke. I had to put shrink wrap there too. When the new frames arrived I took the lenses out of the old frame and put them in the new frame. Same lens would not stay in there. I looked at the old frame and noticed that on the side of the where the lens would not stay in the bottom was flatter and not as rounded as the other side, and that the new frames had both sides rounded on the bottom the same. So I took a chance and compressed the the bottom side of the frame where the lens would not stay in on the new pair. Took about three tries before I could pop the lens in and tighten the screw and feel that the lens would stay in. It is still in there. Was told that it may be possible that the lens was cut a millimeter or 2 short and that was why the lens would not stay in. I don't know. What I do know is that MYEYEDR will never get a return visit from me. read more

I wouldn't recommend this location of MyEyeDr. The text message to confirm my appointment stated 5:15pm when i thought the apt was 5pm. They then called me at 4:55pm asking me to come in early and then at 5:06pm asking if I was still coming. I then walked up to their locked entrance and attempted to open the door a few times. I didn't realize we were now calling in so they can unlock the door and that was my fault but it was pretty rude of them to ask if i could read (a sign on their door). Anyways I had felt rushed at that point bc they called twice, and then the technician that did the eye test, messed up my chair and didn't really seem to know much about eyes. She didn't know what lasik was and when she realized what I was talking about she said it probably wasn't right for me... I'm nearsighted and would like to see far again. She hussled me through the first part and then to the eye exam. The eye doctor then sped run me to the right prescription which seemed done correctly just really really rushed. He proceeded to explain to me that I was nearsighted and that sadly my prescription went up again. I, in fact, have noticed that I was nearsighted. He didn't dialate my eyes which he had good reason for but I thought that was a standard thing to do. It was pretty unprofessional to rush me through just because they closed at 6pm. I have now had two experiences with this place in which have place orders with them and they failed to fulfill the orders. This most recent situation I called them to pick up my contacts and they did not have any record of the order being placed. They said they did not have a payment on file, which somehow is supposed to show that I never called. I have record in my phone of calling them; however they deny repeatedly that they ever received my call in the first place. My guess is they forgot to place the order and struggle with customer service in admitting this. Either way, the situation is absurd. Avoid this place. read more
