Here, I felt like he spent time with me, did not push any particular technology and didn't feel the assembly line feeling or the pushy feeling I got from the places I tried previously. If you are happy with your current provider I see no reason to change but if you have been having difficulty with your glasses I think this might be a great place to try. He also gave me all my measurement information before I asked. Try getting that at a chain. Their dog was there, quiet, fluffy, soft and smelling clean sitting at my feet. Like a therapy dog :-)

An optical shop is only as good as the lab they use to make the lenses, and PL has, apparently,…read moreswitched to one making inferior ones. I have been using PL for decades and had no problems until the past year or so. The lenses I purchased (which have several coatings) began to deteriorate just weeks after purchase and I had to bring them back to be replaced---not once, but twice. This had never occurred in prior years. The second replacement pair continued to have wearing and peeling problems just weeks later, so I brought them to another Fairfield optician for review. I was told that the lens coatings were poor and had failed, and that the lens material (polycarbonate) was inferior to those available. So, I quickly ordered two sets of lenses and they are perfect. Among the improvements: my peripheral vision is now not distorted and my range of vision is much greater. So I simply wrote off the expense of the PL lenses. So, to sum up: the PL people are nice, but their current lab sucks. So, caveat emptor.

I really love them and would not have found them without Dorothy's help. Also, my eyes are different prescription strength. Getting glasses online or from a chain would not work for me because with those glasses one of my eyes would look huge and the other would look small. Dorothy has the magic to adjust the lenses so that both of my eyes look to be the same size through the glasses. Highly highly recommend!

My rating is based solely on the quality of care I received from the optometrists. My experiences…read morehave been great, and I have been going to FVC in Stratford for three years. I have never had an unpleasant experience with any of the providers conducting the exam. These interactions have always been pleasant. The front desk staff is another story! Outside of the excessive wait times, I mean, for every little service provided, you have to wait until you're recalled, which is inefficient and unnecessary in most cases. You wait longer than the total eye exam takes in some cases. My concern is also what I believe to be shady business/billing practices (which I will be reporting). My medical insurance was billed for both my first and second yearly exams, while my vision insurance (EyeMed) covers the exam itself at 100%. Never, ever, have I had to come out of pocket for the exam itself anywhere else. Second, I purchased my eyeglasses from them, using my insurance benefits,ts even though I know I can go to Eyebuydirect or somewhere and pay much less. For a single vision prescription (pretty much-upgraded readers), I spent close to $400. In Year 2, I brought in my frames and STILL paid the same amount! I couldn't understand why! In my most recent visit, I asked why my medical insurance would be billed as opposed to my EyeMed insurance and was told medical is billed when the doctors determine medical necessity or find a medical concern (Glaucoma, Cataracts, etc.). This I absolutely get and understand; HOWEVER, I do NOT and have never had any of these concerns, so again, why is my medical insurance being billed?? because they know they will be reimbursed at a higher rate. Shady, shady, shady!

Family Vision Center in Stratford is lucky that I am giving it a 2 star rating as this office does…read morenot even deserve that. I had an appointment scheduled for early September however I lost my left contact lense this morning and was down to my last pair. I was going to be traveling to west coast and overseas in August and was afraid that if I lose my last pair during these trips I will face significant hardship and will have to wear my eye glasses which I only like to wear at home. Called the office and explained my issue to the scheduling assistant. She instead of trying to help me by squeezing me in for an on an earlier date on a EXCEPTION she would not do so. As a favor to me she was willing to put me on cancelation list and there too I would have to wait for my number. I must also say the scheduler came across as very inflexible and aggressive which most certainly is not the way to service your existing and new patients. if the office policy is to show "zero" flexibility than the office need to revisit the policy. Being an existing patient I was so disappointed that I canceled my appointment with the office for September, and rescheduled it with another eye care facility for next week and that was done on a exception basis to accommodate me. Needless to say it was a very disappointing experience trying to reschedule the appointment. I highly recommend that the scheduling assistant receives additional training in customer service. Not that it matters you lost me as one of your long term patient today.

Not only did Hawley Lane Opticians screw my husband over many years ago when he finally needed…read moreglasses and the optician forgot to fill out one part of a form for the DMV (this caused him a lot of problems)...but they have been rude every time we have contacted them since. When we needed the lenses replaced a few years later, it turned into a whole dramatic ordeal and took weeks when it should have been a quick fix. I recently called them again to ask for my husband's PD because we found glasses online that he liked and we are updating his prescription. They refused to give it out because we aren't buying from them this time. Never use this place. They are a waste of space.

Literally one year my super expensive glasses broke. Which is actually less than one year because when I received them the prescription was off and I had to have them fix it. So if I am going based off of that it was less than one year. I called to get prescription and they will not provide me with all the details needed to order a new pair online. They refused to assist even with all the money I spent. Run. They push you to spend on unnecessary items. I had to get the lens correct and the $200+ I spent is out the door. Glasses totaled $558 the $200 were to get bifocals I did not need ask them to correct which they are doing but they will not credit the 200 on unnecessary bifocals nit even a store credit. Manager Edward did not care. There site states they take quality in there work but they do not. All they care about is the money you shell out. The eye doctor is good but the that owner of this establishment is not at all professional. I will continue my complaint to BBB and every other social media possible. Economy is hard and people like this makes it harder.
