I had cataract surgery last March which corrected my distance vision. The downside is that I now require readers. In addition, for my part-time job, I work on a computer in a public place so I need bi-focals. Unfortunately, I lost one of the lenses and the frames are damaged. It took 2 weeks to get an appointment. I was there early for my time. I filled out some paperwork and was ready to go when Dr Brook Vastis called me in. We talked about my transition to her practice and my vision needs. Mainly to get an exam to provide to my PCP, replacement bi-focal lenses and frames. The office environment is professional and functional. The Reception process was smooth and easy. While I was waiting I noticed there were two ladies that were talking to patients about their frame selections. They have a lot of premium choices, Maui Jim, Lilly Pulitzer, State Optical, Barton Perreira, Lafont of Paris,Ernia O of Barcelona, Silhouette, Ovo Optics, Modo, Morel and Kate Spade to name a few. I met with a lady named Jessie to talk about selecting frames and lenses and completing my order. She was very professional, friendly and helpful. I was pleased my insurance covered a large percentage of the overall costs. While changing medical providers can sometimes be anxious and stressful, this was not one of them.

Not the best. I came in for an eye check up and they made a prescription that does not work for me…read more When I got my glasses I had continual eye strain after wearing them for days. I came in and asked to be rescheduled for a second eye check up. Which was happily complimentary. But they would not be able to see me for the next 2 weeks. I needed my glasses fixed as soon as possible due to extended travel and had to go to another eye doctor and pay for the eye check up without insurance in order to fix my prescription. It is my expectation that when somebody else makes a mistake that they have to pay for it and that they attempt to fix their mistakes as a high priority. They are fixing their mistake for free but this is the least I expect from a company, that they fix their mistakes. Walmart Vision Center does not fix its mistakes well. I was obliged to spend a few hours of work and time on my part trying to solve the problem and also paying for an eye visit with another doctor to fix the prescription. Walmart visitors center should focus more on its customers by ensuring a better experience to those affected by their mistakes.

Despite all of this, I never received a usable pair of glasses. Suggesting that I "reach out" again ignores the fact that I already did that multiple times. At this point, the only reasonable solution is a full refund so I can return to VSP and have the prescription and glasses made correctly elsewhere. I'm posting this update so future patients understand the full context, because a generic template response doesn't match the seriousness of the experience.

Another eye doctor that I later saw in Charlotte failed to diagnose it, and when I brought up the earlier diagnosis, dismissed my concerns. Dr. David Au correctly diagnosed my astigmatism - there was a noticeable difference between the normal and astigmatism lens - and I'm glad to be finally able to get the lens I need. Dr. Au answered all my questions and showed me a protocol for referring contact lens prescriptions - quite refreshing compared to other eye docs I've seen that were less transparent and steered me towards one particular brand (that I wonder if they were receiving some form of kickbacks on). Thank you Dr. Au for being an kind, thorough, and ethical doctor. I will be a regular here.

It's disappointing to see you respond not by addressing the concerns I raised, but by questioning whether I was ever a patient at all. That's not only false--it's a deflection from the real issue: I paid for new designer frames and was given used/demo ones from your display wall. I wasn't even provided the proper designer case they normally come with, just a generic one that didn't fit properly. That is not acceptable, and it certainly isn't ethical. You claim to have searched your patient database but couldn't verify me--yet somehow you sent me a private message on Yelp with direct contact info. That doesn't align. You also claim I would have responded if I were a real patient. I did not respond because I already attempted to contact your office directly before ever posting a review, and I was ignored. Only after leaving honest public feedback did I receive any acknowledgment. This pattern of dismissing concerns and redirecting the narrative is exactly what motivated me to leave a review.
