It's disappointing to see you respond not by addressing the concerns I raised, but by questioning whether I was ever a patient at all. That's not only false--it's a deflection from the real issue: I paid for new designer frames and was given used/demo ones from your display wall. I wasn't even provided the proper designer case they normally come with, just a generic one that didn't fit properly. That is not acceptable, and it certainly isn't ethical. You claim to have searched your patient database but couldn't verify me--yet somehow you sent me a private message on Yelp with direct contact info. That doesn't align. You also claim I would have responded if I were a real patient. I did not respond because I already attempted to contact your office directly before ever posting a review, and I was ignored. Only after leaving honest public feedback did I receive any acknowledgment. This pattern of dismissing concerns and redirecting the narrative is exactly what motivated me to leave a review. My intent was not to harm your business, but to protect future patients from the experience I had. That is the purpose of reviews. Jessica, Gina and Dr Neff all were very professional and made me feel very comfortable. I was in and out in short order and was happy with their great selection of frames. I understand that covid is a real virus, but denying people service who have a legitimate exemption is unacceptable. They had just seen 2 patients the day before without masks with no problems but refused to see us. There were no other patients in the office and all the staff had on masks. My favorite was Dr Burt was sick- cool, it happens we are humans. I get a text at 7 AM, fine, I call back after they left a message saying they had a spot for me. Male receptionist with an accent tells me he sees no spots then hangs up. I call back and ask to speak with Christina Pittinger the office manager. "I have no idea who you talked to or where they are but I have an appointment for you", alright, where's the ownership/apology/accountability piece. I had been waiting for two months to get in so fine, I'll be there. Show up, only to be guided through the office by three different people who had the personalities of wet dry wall. Dr Burt comes in and blows me away with his care, the amount of time he spent with me and him taking the time to educate me. I go to the retail selection, it wasn't great- selection was very synonymous and not for the fun or funky. The young lady was kind, spent the time to hear me and found two other color ways in the frames I settled on. I'm told it will be 7-10 days. Cool! I had work travel and had to buy a new phone amongst all of it so I call the office to check on the status. Paula, answers the phone. Paula is the "that's nice/bless your heart" kinda gal. Which fine. I start to explain who I am and asking for an update. She cuts me off and starts talking over me exclaiming that it hasn't been 10 days. When I start to explain I was told 7-10. She cuts me off with "we recently changed and it must be old habits or you didn't hear properly". Ma'am as someone who works exclusively in customer service it's all about ownership and accountability. As soon as I open my mouth to respond- she hangs up. I call back and get the sweet baby angel who helped with my eye wear! I feel hope! Then have to wait for Paula again, who is standing ten toes deep with no accountability for her office. Then says it's only been a week. I explain that if she had listened she would know I had been traveling and was told 7-10 days and wanting to be sure I didn't miss anything but she had hung up. She stated she was trying to be helpful and I was being rude. I explained she wasn't actively listening and she was being rude she just didn't want to hear what I was saying. I also explained this is why the reviews on yelp and google as well as social media looks the way it does. Then she hmmmpf me. I will be calling to follow up about her behavior on the phone with me but I guarantee the same office manager who talked to me previously when I was told there was no appointment is going to say no Paula works there or she has no idea who I am talking about. I'll go back for Dr Burt but moving forward I am taking my eye wear dollars to Sally's Optical Secrets in Charlotte.

This took forever. They then sat me down for the vision test. It's done via video call with someone not even there. It took forever to get her on and there was a bit of a language barrier. I just hoped for the best that she got my prescription correct. After I got home, I realized I was overcharged. I was told I would get a call back and never did, I emailed and they tried to explain why I wasn't overcharged but it makes no sense which makes me think I was scammed. I even reached out to corporate with no luck. The glasses are fine but the deals you see online are misleading and I spent so much more than expected.

Despite all of this, I never received a usable pair of glasses. Suggesting that I "reach out" again ignores the fact that I already did that multiple times. At this point, the only reasonable solution is a full refund so I can return to VSP and have the prescription and glasses made correctly elsewhere. I'm posting this update so future patients understand the full context, because a generic template response doesn't match the seriousness of the experience.

A…read morevery friendly and competent optometry operation, there are two locations: Lancaster and Indian Land, SC. Vicky Jewell is the optometrist and she is excellent. In addition to being a friendly person, she is very thorough, always checks her records as to trends in your vision history and will refer you to specialists, if needed. Over the past two years I have had an "after cataract" which is a fogging of the lens. It has been very slowly getting worse, and now is the time to have an ophthalmologist do an evaluation and maybe do the laser work to clear it up. I have an appointment from one of her known alliance partners and we will see. Appointments are easy and they do follow-ups to remind you. If you need new lenses or frames, they can fit you there in the office. Mark is the tech guy to do it. And he is very nice as the manager of the Indian Land shop. Happy to be part of their practice...so is my wife.
