Been going here for years. Everyone has always been pleasant. Today I learned that some appts are with 'remote' dr, so if you have an eye infection they cannot treat remotely and you will have to return a different day when dr is physically in the office. And yes, pay again for a 2nd visit. When you schedule an appt on line you will not know it is a 'remote dr' appt. You also will not be aware the dr will not physically attend until they pull the screen over for them to talk to you. This was 'all fine' for eye exam, but it extended out the length of my session and it did 'zero' for my itchy eye issue! read more

I went to My Eye Doctor on Independence Blvd. Charlotte, NC. The "Doctor" diagnosis was I had glaucoma. He told the receptionist I was going to schedule my glaucoma treatments. My husband didn't trust him so he he took me to an eye surgeon and he told me I didn't have glaucoma and I went to a "bad" doctor. Can you imagine what patients are going through in this office? Dr Friedman sold his practice a while back to My Eye DR, a chain, created in 2001 and now nationwide, which is owned by Goldman Sachs, international investment and financial services bank. Mind you, far from an ordinary average everyday bank as their customer base is far from ordinary average everyday. NC has more locations than any other state, by far. Goldman Sachs is thus has a steady income stream, not based on markets. There was a complete turnover in staff. Why? I am sure that due to contracts we will never know. Whereas I used to feel like I was amongst professionals I could trust with my eye sight, glasses, etc. the new staff seemed nonchalant. The atmosphere there had totally lost it's "professional eye care" feeling. As an example....I went in to get a better fit on new frames. When I stated what I was there for (new frames too loose) and pointed to the desk area where a gentleman sat where glasses used to be fitted/lens measured, etc. At this point a lady standing off to the side said "I can do that." Took the frames, reappeared shortly and said "Are they tighter?" to which I replied "We're good" and left. Maybe I got spoiled by Dr. Freidman's staff but I was used to a professional who sat me down, checked the fit while frames on my face, checked level, same distance from eye on both sides, etc. and made an informed decision on how to tighten the glasses so that they were not just tighter, but actually "fit" correctly. And then, did not just simply hand them back, but rechecked the glasses on my face for correct "fit". There is a difference between this and just bending frames randomly for a tighter and saying "here you go." Needless to say I will not (and have not) returned. read more

I had a fabulous experience here! I am new to the area and was looking for a new eye doctor - something I've been putting off because of the pandemic. They managed to get me in before the end of the year and the entire staff was so pleasant and knowledgeable. I was not sure what my insurance was but the front desk girl was able to find it for me, the doctor was very thorough and the girl that helped me with my glasses helped maximize my insurance benefits! I would definitely recommend this location, and look forward to coming back again next year! read more

I would not recommend this practice. I was written a prescription for glasses that I didn't need and Dr. Friedman admitted so a year later. so I paid a good amount for glasses, then when fitted for them John did nothing but argue with me and told me to hold my chin up so I could see out of them. Really!! So then I called the manager Joy before Thanksgiving because I feel I was taken advantage of and want a solution. She told me she would call me back it's now an 11/30/17 and I haven't heard a word from her or anyone else. read more

The staff there was awesome. one question for My Eye Dr management. If you are closed for July 4th federal holiday, why were you open for Juneteenth holiday........ I would love for someone in upper management to answer that question. read more

I absolutely recommend this practice; both my husband and I have gone here for exams and new glasses. The staff are friendly and helpful and Dr Friedman does a thorough eye exam while ensuring you are comfortable and informed of all options. The optician on staff is also really great at helping you to find just the right eye glasses. He is patient, but will also give you honest feedback on what looks good on you. read more

I never write reviews, but felt compelled to write this one. Part of this is on me, as I was looking for an eye doctor that could accommodate children. I called the practice and they said that they did see children. Dr. Friedman was rushed my child through this exam to where she was in tears by the end of it. His heavy signs in between her sobs didn't help matters. He made negative comments about her failing a spelling test (due to vision I might add), but then realized his mistake and quickly told her that there was always next time. He was completely out of touch with how children today are learning on smart boards and how stressed their eyes become (i.e. computer lab). His bedside manner was terrible. He kept making comments about blackboards, which doesn't resonate with children today, so my daughter was confused the entire time. When I asked about her tracking he told me that her tracking was off with no further comment. So naturally, I probed more and asked him to expand. He then said, "Well, everyone's tracking is off, so her's is nothing to worry about.". For our school to be worried about her tracking and for him to tell me that her tracking was off and yet to not worry about it, because "everyone's tracking is off" was the WRONG answer. He did not review the change in vision that my child had from when she had an original eye exam. He simply spin to me in his chair and said "Welp, she's far sighted." He didn't care to explain what that meant or how that differed from her original exam. I had to ask the glasses tech in the lobby. He only told us that we needed new glasses and ushered me out to the lobby to buy new ones. When I asked him if we could use replace the lens' from her old glasses, he said in a obnoxious tone, "Sure, if that's what you want to do." Well, it WAS what I wanted to do because I did not want to pay an extra $150 for new frames if I didn't have to. I sure this guy is great with adults, but please do not take your children here. read more

I don't usually write reviews but I had a very bad experience at Dr. Friedman's. It was time for me to have cataract surgery, I went to a surgeon that Dr. Friedman recommended. I found out later that Dr. Friedman would make money on that deal. I had lens implanted in order to improve my distance vision. It was never mentioned to me that maybe I should do one eye for distance and one for close up so it was necessary for me to get glasses. Even though Dr. Friedman was my eye doctor, my insurance did not allow me to purchase my glasses there. I ordered glasses through Advanced Eye Care in Denver, NC. When my lens arrived, I could not read out of them. I went back to Dr. Friedman to have another refraction, got another prescription and went back to Advanced Eye Care. They ordered another set of lens. These did not work. I went back to Dr. Friedman and after checking my eyes he said that some people are never satisfied and walked out of the room. Unlike Dr. Friedman, his tech Laura Lee and his Optician were very helpful and concerned about my situation. I left there in tears. I called Advanced Eye Care and they were very concerned. I was immediately set up with a doctor there who did a very extensive eye exam (a lot more extensive than Dr. Friedman ever did) and there was no charge. The doctor at Advanced Eye Care found some differences in my prescription and gave me some options and we ordered another set of lens. Advanced Eye Care have said they will work with me as long as necessary so I can see out of my glasses and there will be no additional charge. Needless to say, I will NEVER go back to Dr. Friedman!! read more
