It was the first place we ate after getting to the island, so at the time we didn't have much to compare it to. After spending the rest of our trip trying other restaurants, though, there are SO many better places to eat. We ordered the Monster Meat pizza, which was $47, and honestly it tasted like a frozen pizza. For that price, we were expecting something significantly better. Nothing about the food really stood out or made us want to come back. The history behind Pusser's is interesting, and it's cool to stop in and try the famous rum or have a drink just to experience the place. But for an actual meal, I'd skip it. There are much better food options on the island that are far more worth your time and money.

It was our favorite local food experience of our entire Caribbean cruise (not including Puerto…read moreRico). It's the original Pusser's British pub on Waterfront Drive in Road Town. The name is a slang for a British Navy officer known as a "Purser". One of the Pusser's daily tasks was to supply rum (a special Admiralty blend or "tot") to the sailors aboard the ship. The original recipe was somehow passed to the founder (Charles Tobias) in 1979. It still remains to be the closest to the original Naval recipe to date. Another fun fact is that this rum is actually a product of Guyana. Port Mourant double wooden pot stills are used to distill it. Most people will say that rum is rum. But hey, I can only tell you that there was definitely something special in that famous Pusser's Pain Killer. My husband even said it was the best rum drink he has ever had. Take that for what it's worth because we really don't drink that much. Ha! Jem was our bartender, and she was absolutely fantastic! So upbeat, warm, and friendly. She's everything that you'd want in a bartender. She explained the Pusser's Pain Killer numbering system. I was sold on the well-balanced No. 3. My husband went with the No. 4. I've had Pain Killers numerous times in my life. This was the best EVER! I don't know if it was the rum or the fresh grated nutmeg. Maybe it was the cream of coconut. I don't know, but I would have had a second one had we not had to walk back to the ship. If that's not enough to tempt you, then you must try their Conch Fritters. It has so much conch in it. More than any I've ever had. They are delicious! The firecracker dipping sauce made it even more special. The Bang! Bang! Gulf Shrimp were also pretty awesome. The batter was so much lighter than it looks in pictures. All in all, a great food and drink experience. We liked it so much that we decided to buy a couple of t-shirts in their branded clothing store. All 100% cotton! So comfy! We can't wait to return. We'll be back again in December if all goes well. The food is nothing short of spectacular, the venue is right on the water with a really nice ambiance, and the drinks are totally on the money :-) We actually visited here twice during our stay. The first time around we shared an exceptional Mahi-Mahi sandwich, and started off with a wonderfully delicious soup. On our 2nd visit we shared crab soup and the grouper Reuben, which was a veritable thing of beauty! I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed the food here. Over and above the amazing food, the service was spot-on, and I think I'm in love with their "painkiller" - it's a mixed drink that goes down super smooth and then turns around to kick like a Mule. St. John is a beautiful Island, and I have no doubt that when I return, I'll find my way back to Miss Lucy's as well.

There's a bar on the right and then the kitchen, tables on the left, and bathrooms in the back. The menu is on a white board with a cash only sign right below. There were about 6 mains and each came with two sides (4 options, the 5th sold out). Sylvia took our order and between the 4 of us we tried 3 of the mains and all of the sides. I had the fresh fish of the day, grilled in butter sauce. It came out head, tail, scales and all. Sylvia explained this as I ordered and let me know it was to keep all of the flavor. She also showed me how to slice it to avoid the bones and it was flat out delicious. We shared the sides among us, my favorites being the mash and spinach; though all were good. My boyfriend ordered the jerk chicken and it had some serious heat. He asked about the recipe and Sylvia mentioned that everyone on the island had the same request but no one ever got it. My friend ordered the homemade key lime pie; best she ever tasted. Some quirks: There's a bar and the restaurant that operate as two different businesses, so you'll get your drinks on one bill and the food on a second. Also, they are CASH ONLY; It cost us about $150 to get out the door for dinner for 4, drinks, and a generous tip. Sylvia serves her food in Sputnik Bar. If you're approaching from the northwest on Rte 10, keep straight instead of turning into Coral Bay (at the 107 split). It'll be about 1/2 mile down the road on the left.
