We were fortunate to get a same day reservation by calling between 9-4 and were looking forward to our experience as first time diners. After getting an amazing cocktail at the bar while waiting for our table, and then receiving a great spot on the front corner of the patio things started going downhill as others have mentioned. After taking our order, we never saw our server again (other than watching him help other tables) until after our entrees were delivered and we asked someone to find him to help us get a glass of wine. We had originally planned to order a bottle but just opted for a glass at that point. Our appetizers dishes and empty cocktail glasses also sat for quite awhile on the table while we waited. Food was a mixed bag. Enjoyed the special soup and tango salad but our grouper and wahoo entrees were disappointing and overcooked. Skipped dessert as we were both a bit bummed at the overall experience. This place came highly recommended by many people on the island. Very hard to get in to... called and they only had one reservation left for 5:30. We got there and man was the line long. Surely this place had to be amazing with that long of a line and very limited reservations. Ok so there was good and bad, hence the 3 stars. The good, great ambience, open air with a good view. Adding to that, the food was stellar. Super fresh, great flavors and portions were good. Would definitely come back for the food. The bad... service, or lack there of. So many people told us to come here is it was very hard to secure a last minute reservation so we were excited to try. We ended up absolutely loving the food here. Everything is so fresh and packed with flavor, that you really can't go wrong with anything in the menu. The vegetable paella was delicious, the two tridatos we tried were fresh and bright with the different sauces on top, and the key lime pie was absolutely amazing. It is definitely the vacationers favorite spot, but I wouldn't say it's too touristy or anything. It gets a lot of attention because it's good and a nice place to eat dinner with your family on vacation. We sat at the bar and the bartender was super friendly. The host was kind enough to try to squeeze us in anywhere he could so for that we are very grateful. The food took awhile to come out, but that's probably just island time stuff, and besides the place was PACKED. But our appetizers and desserts came out really quickly. We loved our time here and would definitely recommend giving it a try if possible! There is a good mix of seafood and "land breezes" on the menu, plus a couple vegetarian plates if needed. For our last dinner in St John, we booked a reservation here. Only bar seating was available but it did not hamper the experience. They open at 5:30pm which was our reservation time and it was busy. Folks were lined up down the stairs waiting to get in. They handled the crowd well. We started with splitting the tango salad. It was a nice combo of island tastes and great way to whet the palate. I chose the coconut shrimp. Four large pieces of shrimp were presented with a cob of corn and jasmine rice. Everything had a nice island flavor. We finished the meal with a flourless chocolate tort with a raspberry sauce. So good. They are noted for key lime pie but just not my fav. The open airiness of the space was cool and inviting. Being at the bar, our server was the bar tender. They were extremely busy but we never felt neglected. Service was good. The three of them worked well as a team. read more

Had dinner on a Tuesday with two other couples while on vacation. Turned out to be lobster night which was a welcomed surprise. We ordered a bunch of apps Tuna tartar (3/4) fresh and decent portion but the tuna was a bit lacking in flavor Calamari (4/4) simple and great crunch Lobster dish (6/4) fantastically executed and hands down one of the best lobster I've had. Beyond tender and zero chewiness perfectly cooked and no additional sauce seasoning or otherwise needed. Lamb lollipops (4/4) excellent tender and a decent app Grouper (2/4) pretty thick crust and mine was overcooked and under seasoned Mussels (3/4) decent and plentiful good sharing option Drinks (2/4) they were fine, I would go for wine or beer if you visit. Space filled up pretty quickly at 5:45 and plenty of seating multiple levels of tables and bar seating. Be aware it is pretty outside with covering and fans but we were definitely sweating the whole time. Service was fine, we had to ask multiple times for simple things like ice or a spoon but overall we were very much on island time so weren't in a rush. Book early and if you can GO FOR LOBSTER NIGHT! We had many great meals in our five days on St John, but Morgan's Mango was the best. Morgan's red snapper ceviche was incredible -- plenty of snapper in a delectable lime base with just a touch of heat. We followed with the crusted grouper accompanied by an amazing coconut dipping sauce, roasted vegetables and a potato mash. The perfectly cooked chunk of grouper was the size of my hand! The old fashioned and martini were outstanding too. The longtime owner made the rounds to ensure everyone was happy with the meal & service. This spot was a pleasant surprise. While the seafood is frozen, not fresh, it was still among the better meals I've had on the island. I'd recommend skipping the calamari, though; mine were overly chewy and tough. The paella leaned more toward a basic seafood rice dish, featuring frozen seafood, but the flavors were still enjoyable. The real standout, and the reason for the 4-star rating, is their key lime pie. Truly exceptional. As someone who's borderline obsessed with key lime pie and orders it at every restaurant that offers it, I can confidently say this was the best I've ever had. They are well known for their lobster, but it is not always available. You should contact them to see when they have their lobster nights if you are planning a trip to St. John. We celebrated a lovely birthday dinner at Morgan's Mango and would do it all over again! You definitely need a reservation, whether your party is big or small, this place fills up from the time they open to the time they close! Even the bar takes reservations! We skipped apps and went straight to dinner and it did not disappoint! The portions are large and filling so come hungry! I had the coconut crusted grouper and it was absolutely delicious. My one critique is that the side of veggies was a bit undercooked for me, most were still hard. A few others in my group for the surf and turf dinner special and the lobster was cooked perfectly and super tasty. Probably hopped out of the ocean that morning! We "forced" ourselves to get dessert and opted for the key lime pie. It was delicious! Perfect amount of crust and filling and super tasty! It is also the biggest pie I've ever seen! My husband and I visited Morgan's Mango for dinner one evening on our honeymoon, and we were very found of the drinks, food, and atmosphere. We made our reservations well in advance, which I highly recommend unless you want to sit at the bar. Our server was wonderful, and as he went over the evening specials, he was sure to point out some of his personal favorites. I had a gin cocktail that was delicious, and I chose the filet for dinner. The filet was topped with a chimichurri sauce and accompanied by a potato mash and seasonal vegetables. Everything was cooked perfectly, and the portions were generous. It was DOWN POURING when we came in for our reservation. We requested the patio, so we didn't have the choice to move inside, but the staff was incredibly accommodating and everything possible was done to keep customers dry and comfortable (moving tables as close in as possible, umbrellas, etc). We did stay dry, and despite being worried, had zero complaints about the patio on a rainy night lol. The service was friendly and professional. The food and drinks were amazing. Such a huge disappointment. My wife and I have been coming here since 2013. Reservation at 5:45 this evening. We finally received our food at 7. We ordered the "fresh catch" at market price. After tasting the dish it was obvious it was frozen!! Absolutely not fresh catch. The manager asked to speak with me about clearing our $350 bill. Years ago, a friend brought us here, but I have to say I didn't remember it being this incredible of a space. Tucked away next to Mongoose Junction, yet completely open with a Saint John vibe...but with glass instead of solo cups. :D We went on Tuesday, which was the Lobster Special day and the four of us each got 1lb lobsters (asked to be taken out of the shell), with the VERY best beans, rice and plantains I've had in a long while. For that, plus the bread basket and 3 drinks, the bill was under $250...a STEAL on an island that is not known for cheap prices. Highly encourage making reservations cause there is a constant flow of people dining in. The restaurant looks very nice on the inside. Staff is friendly and attentive. We came in as a party of ten, so accomating large groups is not a problem. Started off with a couple of mango mojitos and it was one of the best mojitos I've ever had in my life. I ordered the cheese bread and the lobster soup to start. Cheese bread were ok, nothing spectacular. The soup was flavorful however the pieces of shrimp they used could have been better, they were overcooked for a soup. Moving right along to the main dish. The lobster was out of this world. Probably some of the best grilled lobster I've had. Everything on this island in terms of sit down restaurants are all overpriced. Took an evening sail to St John from St Thomas. Decided to go Morgan's Mango for dinner. We didn't have reservations, the hostess said she would have a table in 20 mins, so we waited. We say an empty table up the stairs when we arrived, guess where the hostess sat us 20 mins later? You got it, the same empty table. I'm not a seafood fan but my family is. The restaurant is beautiful and relaxing. It's a bit of a challenge for people with limited Mobility but worth the climb up And down! The service was perfection. With a lot of places still closed, I was excited that Morgan's Mango was open so had to give it a try. Literally everyone at my hotel was heading there as well, so maybe I over hyped this place in my head. First thought - open air restaurant - with a vibrant vibe. Things tried: - tuna tataki: the night's special and it was amazing! Flavors danced in my mouth - yucca chips : they were good, but not sure it was worth the price - lobster: the waitress recommended 1.5lbs, but tbh I think you should get what you feel is right. I ordered as recommended and left with more than half of the lobster. It was good, but Caribbean lobster tends to be a bit more chewy compared to Maine lobster. The sides the accompanied the lobster were ok. The beans and rice were a tad bland but the plantains were delish. Key lime pie: I kind of regret getting this. It was sooo sweet and lacked tart. Wasn't the way I wanted to end dinner. All in all I'm glad I tried Morgan's Mango, but my experience was just ok. Aside from the appetizer, food was ok. Service was also just ok. read more

Came here for dinner while visiting St. John. Service was good, nice ambience though note it's an outdoor restaurant... I personally could have used bit more of a breeze. Though there are fans. We started off with the lamb, asked for medium well but came out more in the medium side... wish it was cooked more. Been here 3 times in the past 4 years, sorry to say the kitchen has gone downhill. The lobster bisque is beef based and tasted burnt. The main course of seafood paella was 90% rice with one shrimp and some calamari/small mussels. My wife and I heard about this restaurant from a number of sources including the VRBO-owner, so we made a reservation for 5:30 (right when they open) and we had the loveliest time. Our server - I'm embarrassed I don't remember his name - was phenomenal. There was another lady dressed in a gown and she also helped us - this restaurant has the most amazing service to back up their 32-year reputation. The food was perfection and service was impeccable. My wife had their catch of the day and I had the pork loin. Both dishes were literally the best food we have had while dining out in ages - restaurants in the lower 48 could learn from Morgan's Mango. Their famous key lime pie is a game changer. It's amazing and is the only key lime pie I will ever eat. Seriously - it's so good. Unfortunately we didn't take any photos of our food so you'll have to take our word for it and make a reservation because you will not regret it. My wife and I dressed up a little for dinner - I guess island dress-up with collared shirt for me and cute dress for her - but overall it's casual and friendly.
