On a recent trip to St. John, we had several options for dinner one evening. On the recommendation of our innkeeper, we decided to give Speakeasy a go. So glad we did! Don't be fooled by appearances... a couple of decorated shipping containers with a roof thrown up in between is what you see. Once there, however, you'll find one of the best restaurants on St. John! We had a delightful dinner, sitting at the bar, waited on by a real character, who said her name was "Mary" that night. She was fantastic! Lots of locals there, regulars, always a good sign! Great view of the sunset from the entire place, and our seats at the bar. The drinks and food were both fantastic! Creative craft cocktails are the star! The menu is local, but chef-inspired infusions of incredible flavors. We shared ceviche, fresh catch and the truffled foie gras... all were simply delicious! Key lime pie to die for! We'll definitely be back next time we visit the island! Highly recommend Speakeasy!

Such a wonderful meal - truly high end in a beautiful location. We sat at the bar and our bartender was fantastic. Can't wait to go back!

STJ has been needing this place for a long time . This restaurant had only been open for just over a year but this establishment is legit. Everything we ordered was great...appetizers, entrees, and deserts. My only gripe was the fish entree portion was a little light but that won't stop us from going back. The service was excellent. Sunset at dinner was a nice touch. You should make a reservation and go here.

We sat at a high top in front of the bar and were greeted immediately. I had the espresso martini and it was sweet and frothy and garnished with shredded chocolate bits. It was the perfect dessert drink. Trevor answered some questions we had about the island and was prompt and pleasant through checkout. Wished we could've gotten over there a few more times during our trip.

Once your eyes have adjusted, you can start reading the truly extensive cocktail menu. There are both classic tiki and newer creations available, and during happy hour, some of the simpler drinks (like Mai Tais) are discounted. If you are new to tiki, you might get frustrated with some of the service times, but each drink can be so complex, they take a little longer than your average rail to make (but it's worth it for the layered flavors). Breaker's Roar is my favorite bar in Christiansted, and it is great either as a first drink of the night spot, or as a final hurrah. I have never had a bad drink from them, and I don't even have a favorite, everything I have tried is so delicious. Each drink also comes in a carefully selected vessel, and that id definitely part of the equation in placing an order. The last time we went, there was also a small bites menu that was a pleasant surprise. We liked the two plates we tried, but already had dinner reservations. Next time we go back, we plan to eat a full meal. This place is a must if you are on the boardwalk!

A Hidden Gem in Puerto Rico…read more I am so shocked by how much I loved this speakeasy bar! Vegabundo Social truly exceeded my expectations. It wasn't a busy night when we went, but the vibe was still incredible--and a big part of that was thanks to the bartender, K. He's seriously amazing! Not only does he know how to make great drinks, but his personality and conversation skills really made the night. K even gave us an awesome tour of the entire bar, which has some of the coolest rooms I've seen, including a super private space with a pole in it. Let me just say, I so wish I had known about this beforehand because it would've been perfect for my husband's birthday. Next time, for sure! The fact that it's also a hostel blew my mind. They have shared rooms, a pool, and overall such a cool setup. It's way bigger than you'd think from the outside, especially considering it's tucked away off the highway. If you're visiting Puerto Rico, you HAVE to check this place out. Great service, amazing people, good drinks, and an unforgettable vibe. K is the real MVP, and we're already planning to return on our next trip! Highly recommend.

From the moment we stepped inside the staff was welcoming and friendly. The girl that was taking care of us, very knowledgeable, asked us our predilection on hard liquor so she could suggest different cocktails. She nail it! I had the 'Walk in the Woods' which is their version of an Old-fashion, amazing! My friends had 'De La Tierra' with mezcal and Rose and Peper with vodka/gin. They loved them. All cocktails had A+ on presentation as well. Besides the amazing cocktails they also have a small sharing-style food menu. We ordered several things like the steak, chorizo turnovers, ceviche with malanga chips, octopus salad and beef carpaccio all of them delicious. This bar for sure will remain permanent on my list of favorite bars in Puerto Rico!

There are even fun barber-related knick knacks hiding in plain sight, such as shaving brushes hanging from a chandelier. Keep an eye out and see what you spot. It's all dimly lit and much more romantic than it sounds. This would be a great date spot. They serve high-end cocktails, but great food, too. We enjoyed the fish tacos quite a bit. The drinks are the star, though, and their list is huge. The menu has two sections, one for classics (think, moscrow mules, mint juleps, old fashioned, aviations, corpse revivers, etc.) and one for house creations. The selection is impressive, but it's the quality that earns them five stars. Everything we tried was expertly mixed, but the consensus fave was the barbero viejo, an old fashioned variation with mole, maple syrup, and a flamed orange peel. It was delicious, very subtle with the sweetness, and potent, too. Highly recommended. Pro-tip: they keep the door locked at all times, even when they're open. If you see people inside, just wait patiently. They check vaccine status and mask status and require you to wash your hands with sanitizer before entering. It's first come first served seating, so we like to show up right when they open, which is supposed to be 7:00 pm. They aren't exactly punctual, though, so don't be surprised if they stay locked up until 7:15-7:30. Extra bonus points for the many drawings and photos of prodigiously mustachioed men throughout the space. My faves: Dali, or Mario/Luigi.
