Hostess was not friendly and very slow. We waited about 25 minutes to be seated at a table that was empty the entire time... Food was great! While on St John the Mrs secured a reservation and glad she did. We showed up at the right time on the wrong day though but the sweet young lady helped us out and founds us a seat even though they were pretty full. We started with a decent bottle of wine and their green goddess salad. The salad was large enough for us to share and was a nice mix of local greens , tomatoes, and cucumbers. The Mrs decided on the daily ceviche dish which was grouper parented with tostones, avocado, and grilled pineapple. I had the pork possole which was very well seasoned and nicely presented. 10/10 recommended if you are in St John. By far the best restaurant on the island. A fine dining menu that is approachable and excellent service with a laid back feel (kitchen literally a food truck right in front of you). The sunset was amazing but bring sunglasses. On a recent trip to St. John, we had several options for dinner one evening. On the recommendation of our innkeeper, we decided to give Speakeasy a go. So glad we did! Don't be fooled by appearances... a couple of decorated shipping containers with a roof thrown up in between is what you see. Once there, however, you'll find one of the best restaurants on St. John! We had a delightful dinner, sitting at the bar, waited on by a real character, who said her name was "Mary" that night. She was fantastic! Lots of locals there, regulars, always a good sign! Great view of the sunset from the entire place, and our seats at the bar. The drinks and food were both fantastic! Creative craft cocktails are the star! The menu is local, but chef-inspired infusions of incredible flavors. We shared ceviche, fresh catch and the truffled foie gras... all were simply delicious! Key lime pie to die for! What a find! We were getting a roti at Roti King in the Lumberyard parking lot when we spied this restaurant. It's so cool! We scored a reservation for later that night and made plans to come back. Everything we ate was amazing. The grouper ceviche with the tostones - wow. The charred octopus. Also wow. We went with the fish of the day. It was perfect. Since we shared an entree, we had room for dessert. Dark chocolate cremieux. Insanely good. Make a reservation and check them out. read more

The food is was absolutely AMAZING. Just keep in mind the portions are small. But maybe that just means you get to try lots of their wonderful dishes . The service is also great. And they have amazing views! Other things to consider, they don't have high chairs, and they have paid parking (not valet parking). But food is 10/10. read more

Best restaurant on island! I have been coming to St John for over 15 years and last night I dined here for the first time. What an incredible meal! I wasn't sure what to expect when reviewing the menu but I was blown away with flavor profiles, presentation, service, it was wonderful! We watched the "operation" of it all - they have it down and work as a team. The four of us shared many items including the crudo, bisque, milk and honey, and dumplings and the entrees were catch of the day and chicken. We finished with the dark chocolate dessert and beignets. It was all fabulous! The attention to detail on the menu items is bar none and nothing like I've seen in St John and there are some GREAT other restaurants on this island. We loved STJ Speakeasy. Best meal of our trip. Creative menu. Smooth staff who seemed to be having a good time and were clearly proud of the place. The kitchen crew was working very hard! Every dish we sampled was tasty, well-prepped with interesting flavors. Standouts included the fresh local summer rolls, papaya slaw, lion fish (special that night), and roast pork shoulder (which is more like a Milanese). STJ has been needing this place for a long time . This restaurant had only been open for just over a year but this establishment is legit. Everything we ordered was great...appetizers, entrees, and deserts. My only gripe was the fish entree portion was a little light but that won't stop us from going back. The service was excellent. Food is excellent. Chef rocks but small portions and over priced. Cash or Venmo only and they insult you with a 3% charge for Venmo. Waiter and bartender need some work. So made a reservation at 8 got seated at 8:30 not restaurants fault for that one cause people can take they're time it's whatever. It felt like our waiter was slow and then when it came time to order 5 of the things on the menu were gone and the menu is not big. For entree items there was like 5 things and since 2 of the things were gone, the options were very liminal. After that you have to either pay cash or Venmo. Wasn't a huge problem except we obviously didn't have cash and had to ask for the WiFi password cause like not many places only do Venmo and cash. Good wasn't bad. I wouldn't say it was my favorite thing to eat. I could name every other restaurant on the island and tell you to go there. It's also a speakeasy, but nothing feels like it. It just feels like a restaurant that you see an over look of the ocean which isn't a bad view but we were also there at night so there was not a view to be seen. Probably not gunna go here ever really cause every other restaurant is like way better. read more
