Truly an incredible experience it was to eat here. The food was absolutely incredible, the oxtail was incredible, both tender and flavorful. We have been by here for years and it was never open. We were driving by a few days ago and saw it was open. We had to stop. We had the turnovers/empanadas. One chicken, one sausage. Both were a great light afternoon snack. The chicken, I think, had some curry. The sausage had a mild seasoning. If you see it open, stop immediately and have a snack. You won't be sorry. read more

We had two lunches at Ekaete. Trip one was on a Sunday and was delicious. The curry chicken was amazing. The owner served us with a smile. It was a leisurely West Indian experience that we truly enjoyed. The second time, we had a massive wait for our pre ordered Roti and the young server overshared about her personal life, way too much. this is a very different type of restaurant, especially if you come for dinner. first you must let them know you want to come for dinner, and they will tell you whether or not they're gonna open depending on reservations they have. the mother in the back cooks all the caribbean food herself. there is no menu, she will read off what she's making the for the day. the food truly is homemade and amazing, unlike the american burgers, etc on the rest of the island. there are no prices, so make sure you ask, because it definitely is more expensive than you think. they also ONLY accept cash!! in addition they have unique ice cream flavors to finish off your meal. read more

This place is a little hidden on the other side of the island from Cruz Bay. 30 minute ride and worth it. We have been here twice in two years and each time was not disappointed. Currently, you should call and make a reservation because of the pandemic. They only take cash because of the cost but it's really worth it. Pink corner has limited hours but you definitely should go in when you have a chance. Local cuisine such as oxtail, jerk chicken and local vegetables, homemade ice cream and then the usual burgers and such. Mom is the cook and the daughter is out front . This place is one of the best meals I had on my trip to USVI. It is a tiny place by the road in coral Bay. We had the curry duck and chicken roti. I also got the soursop and banana smoothie. Seeing that we are Indians, the lady asked us if we would like the hot mango chutney that goes with the roti. And man was it amazing !! It was like the pickles we make back home and I licked every last bit of it. The lady's mom came out and spoke to us and asked us about the food. We also had the johny cakes which my mom makes back home in india. A delightful, delicious, Black-owned business in Coral Bay. Six of us came for lunch on a Friday and had marvelously flavorful St. Johnian food, including curried goat, salt fish pate, and various chicken dishes. Ekaete specializes in vegetarian options as well, and as much of an eater as I am, the simple bean salad side dish was one of the best things I've ever eaten. This is a small, chef-run restaurant and a true gem of local cuisine. It's cash only and operates on a small scale-- by design. Ekaete's is not the place to come if you are looking for that cheeseburger in paradise. But If you are excited for a meal cooked with home-cooked pride and served with kindness, and especially if you love delicious things, this is the place for you. read more

Ekaete is a refreshing culinary experience. I'd go as far as to say it's unlike any I've had before. Esther went out of her way to make us a special thanksgiving meal on the day of with only 24 hours notice. She opened the restaurant just for us. Not only was the meal memorable (goat curry, rice, bbq pork, turkey, with Indian chutney) but she took the time to sit with us and tell us about her story, show us her handicrafts. We laughed and enjoyed her company like we would as if we were having a thanksgiving (or a Friendsgiving) meal at home with our friends and family. She is amazing and I can say a trip to the islands isn't complete without her island hospitality in full glory. We found a new friend. read more

Too expensive for what the food is ( fairly ordinary) everything is overpriced, food is served in styrofoam containers, service is sub optimal. Stay away from the handmade ice cream. It's not very good and you'll be shocked by the price when they present the bill. read more

While we were exploring St. John we wanted to have some breakfast but it was early and a lot of places weren't open yet. As we drove further into Coral Bay we found a cute little outdoor spot Called Ekaete Pink Corner and was pleasantly greeted by the owner and cook Ekaete. We let her know we wanted some authentic food from the island and she said no problem. She went to her kitchen and after about 10 minutes she came out with two plates of freshly made Johnny cakes with fresh white fish. It was my first time trying this dish. It was very fresh and delicious! We also ordered fresh lime ginger and star juice! Yummy!! I would highly recommend trying out this spot if you ever visit St. John. It was worth exploring and driving to the East side of the island! read more

The food here is spectacular. My wife had the curry chicken. I had the ribs. The meat on the ribs was so tender it nearly fell off the bone. The serving is huge. With my ribs I received a salad, macaroni and cheese, and rice and beans. We will be again. read more

We read the reviews and were excited to eat here. Unfortunately, when we drove up, they were painting and remodeling... And therefore closed. However, they were super nice and all of a sudden the owner said "wait here just a minute". After a few moments she came out with a heaping pile of food saying that she had made it for the workers, and didn't want us to miss out on at least a taste. It was delicious. We gave her a $20 and she promptly said she would donate the money to a local charity that she volunteers for that feeds the poor. Hands-down my favorite REAL local Caribbean food in Saint John. De'Coal Pot comes close, but that's all the way over in Cruz Bay. Most of the food options on St. John offer overpriced continental tourist food; "pan-Asian" dishes, mediocre pasta, chicken fingers, etc. Ekaete Pink Corner was an amazing find, complemented by the sweet lady who runs the place, Miss Esther. The hours tends to vary widely during the off season, but thankfully you can tell when you drive by whether they're open or not. We were staying just up the hill, so we passed by it anyway. Fresh juices from exotic fruits, delicious Caribbean entrees, and great cocktails. Truly local gem. Will definitely be coming back here on my next trip! read more

Superb local food. Do NOT sleep on this place. Fantastic value. They were closing up when we arrived, citing that their reservations had canceled on them. But they opened back up just for us! What followed was exceptionally friendly service, lovely stories from Esther and her children, spicy jerk, eye popping rich homemade ice cream, and uncelebrated side plantains (came with the entree) that beat just about any others I've had. The ambience was friendly and active without the overbearing conviviality you might get at other nearby places, so whatever mood you are in, this is your spot. I tried the curried goat, and others had curried chicken and jerk pork. Even the spiced rice was noteworthy. The menu is handwritten on a board- in every way, this was "mom's home cooking." But the kids are chefs too! Call ahead for a reservation so they know you're coming. Also, word on the street is that if you stop by to chat or give them a call the day before, you might be able to swoop in for a very special breakfast (salt cod, the whole deal). read more

I would give them 10 stars if only were possible. Food was amazing, the best Caribbean food I have ever had. My favorite, the curry goat, and the Oxtail. They also make amazing ice cream. It reminded me my grandma's recipe, just delicious. Jerry and his wife Esther, were exceptional hosts. They even got us some drinks for free and treated us like family. We discovered this restaurant in Coral Bay, St. John, USVI. We were devastated when Vi's closed, then we found Ekaete! We sat outdoors in the shade and members of our group enjoyed ribs and curried goat. Both were spectacular! Both dishes were served with rice and fried plantains. For some reason in St. John, ICE CREAM is a rare find. LOOK no more! This place has ice cream. When we went there she had about five different flavors of HOMEMADE ice cream. Vanilla, orange, strawberry, butter pecan, Soursop. She also had homemade pastries and we bought a guava turnover looking thing and it was very yummy. The guava turnover was four dollars and the ice cream for three big scoops for six dollars and it was delicious. She also sells fresh fruit and her covered canopy sitting area is actually very cool (temp wise). Go here to cool off from a hot day of snorkeling! read more
