Great food and service with a lot of space for seating. The workers were really nice and accommodating. It's right next to Magens Bay which is also another plus.

A nice, friendly vibe. All are welcome here. Music isn't too loud, parking is very difficult, and the lady who runs the restaurant site is really really nice. We got shrimp, dish, shrimp, pasta, dish, baked chicken, and chicken stew. And it was all very good.

I'll make this brief: the food here is good, but it wasn't better than other Caribbean places we went on the island, eg Vinny's food truck near Coki beach, or Rancho Latina (Dominican restaurant). I had read this place had some of the best food on the island so we called 2 hours ahead around 11a and told them we wanted to pick up around 1:30p on the way home from the beach. They said no problem and the food would be ready but when our group taxi swung around, the food wasn't ready. The taxi driver got upset and we felt bad making the other 8 people wait. We almost left without half our order but after about 10 mins of waiting they came out with the oxtail part of the order. Like I said, it was all tasty but not better than other places we went. This place is also pretty out of the way unless you're going to Magens beach or something, so if you don't have a car, I would not rec taking a taxi just to come here. But if you have time and a car, and you're in the general area, long as you don't mind the wait you can get a good meal.

Parking is a bitch but folks usually just double park and are willing to move out if they've blocked someone in. But once there the food is fantastic. Not much for atmosphere - more like a covered garage type setup but it's all about the food here. They have a few beer options and they offer a margarita - I think that's it on the drinks. Again, all about the food which is just fine with us. You can tell there are tourists as well as locals who frequent this place. Pricing is surprisingly high but when you get your food it feels right. We tried the whole snapper and the stewed oxtail. Both were delicious and filling as they came with 2 sides (we tried the sweet potato stuffing, rice and beans and plantains). Great meal in a real local joint. Will definitely return when in St. Thomas again!

We were conflicted about our experience at Brooks. On one hand, the food was decent & it was refreshing to eat at a locally-owned & locally-patronized spot. On the other hand, we felt fleeced. Brooks was highly recommended to us by a few people, so we decided to give it a whirl on our first night in Saint Thomas. The parking lot was a disaster - Basically everyone was double parked. It was very awkward to maneuver & find a spot that hopefully didn't block anyone in. The restaurant was open-air. It was mostly empty, but a few folks sat at plastic tables & chairs scattered around the space. There was a small group of gentlemen playing cards in the back. The overhead fluorescent lights were on full blast as well as the music. There was a sweet stray cat wandering around, looking for food, that seemed to annoy everyone except us. The food menu was handwritten on a dry-erase board & almost ineligible. It was difficult to know what was included in a dish & how much it cost, so we just winged it. I ordered a red snapper meal & my partner ordered a mutton stew. It was served to us in styrofoam. We both received a side of rice & plantains with our meal. I also got a tiny side salad. The rice & plantains were the best part. The red snapper was pretty small, & it was difficult to eat around the bones. I tried a piece of my partner's mutton & it was so chewy that I had to spit it out. So imagine our utter disbelief when we requested the bill, & with no receipt or tally of our items or anything, we were asked to pay over $80. I couldn't believe it. After we left, I did a deeper dive on Yelp & saw that few other folks had aired their suspicions about the prices. There might be a "local price" & "tourist price" for everything on the menu. We were obviously charged the tourist price. How depressing. So I'm not really sure what to make of the whole thing, but I know that I didn't exactly leave satisfied & I certainly felt weird about the whole operation. I don't think I recommend this spot, but it's hard to say.

Brooks serves decent food. As you arrive and enter the restaurant, it's definitely not much to look at. Hard to believe the ratings are so high. In any event, we had anchored in Megan's Bay for the night, dinghied to shore, and found a huge party cab to take us to the restaurant. It was the only place open for miles. The menu is limited. The place has a full bar, and a decent beer selection. Most of the group had cocktails, primarily gin and tonic at our end of the table, served in red cups solo cups. No appetizers ordered; we went straight for the entrees. Fried whole red snapper and stewed goat for us. The fish was very good, the goat not so much. It sounded good at the time, and the waitress recommended it. Perhaps the kitchen just needed to get rid of some goat! LOL Service was not good, as several waitresses rotated through our table during the evening. We had to re-order things several times. There appeared to be a manger onsite, but she didn't really pay much attention to the dining room. She stayed mostly in the kitchen. The bathroom was pretty bad... As noted above, we went to Brooks because there was nothing else open close to Megan's Bay. If we have another night in Megan's Bay, we'd likely fix dinner onboard, which would definitely be an improvement over Brooks. Cannot recommend Brooks based upon our experience there.

I really wanted to like Brooks..It was recommended by a local who swore up and down on the "bombness" of their oxtails, so I drove here to grab some for takeout a couple hours after landing in St. Thomas. Being tired and hungry from my flight and all, I couldn't wait to sink my Teeth into some juicy Oxtails..so I ordered via phone for pick up. I couldn't wait!! Lol but I should've, and instead considered a different place to eat. I did have a few eateries bookmarked prior to arriving, but my faith was really high in the person who recommended Brooks SMH. He had such conviction when he suggested it! Ughh! What I received were 3 pieces of hard oxtails, no gravy on top and some Oily white rice with some yellow oily so called gravy on top for a whopping $18...AND I ordered rice and beans and got plain white rice!! Definitely not worth the price. I was so disappointed.. On a positive note, Brooks seems to be a good local spot to grab a quick drink from..so grab that drink and keep it moving!

We stopped here on our way home after being at Magens Bay Beach all day. This was amazing local food! We loved it and I wish I could have had more!! Definitely go here and check it out. Oh the hot sauce is HOT!! I've already looked it up and I can order it on Amazon so I can have more at home.

Order the fresh catch. We had red snapper and it was delicious. You get three sides with it, so it was a lot of food! I enjoyed the plantains, sweet potato stuffing and broccoli. The stewed meats were not appetizing. No frills outdoor seating. The bugs will be biting. Parking is tight. Cash only! 4 for the fish. 3 for everything else.

Oxtails, Mac and cheese, plantains, and rice and beans.

Went there for lunch today. Ordered BBQ ribs and ended up with Oxtails. Not sure how that happened but I was on the hungry side so I ate them. While tasty since my wife ordered almost the same thing which came with rice/ beans, macaroni and cheese and plantains. Portions are large so one ordered would have probably fed both. Lots of flys swarming as this is open air seating, so maybe some bug lights to repel the critters. Overall good food although it's kind of out in the middle of no where. Hard to get cab service back.

The chicken was moist and juicy especially with the savory sauce it was cooked with, the rice wasn't dry, the plantains ripe and well cooked, and the beans were seasoned and spiced just right. Service was friendly, fast even with the constant influx of people coming in. Fresh food was coming from the kitchen even by 745pm. The interior is simple, no frills, and well lit. We parked our car on the street and it took us less than 10 min to get our order. The road may seem sketchy to outsiders especially at nighttime but we had no problems finding the place. Would come back to try more of their food and would recommend! Small plates are around $8-9, and big plates start from around $12. Our big plate with the stewed chicken. Rice, plantains and a side of beans were $12 each. Oxtail big plate is $18 . Cash and credit cards accepted.
