Ilya, the owner, was unbelievably patient and helpful. The doctor, Dr. Lau, was lovely, kind, and helpful. I had a groupon for an exam and contact lenses. I never had contacts before, and it took me over an hour to put them in. Dr. Lau and Ilya and everyone else were angels, walked me through the process, and made sure I had practiced using the contacts several times. They accommodated my struggling with top-form professionalism, humor, and helpfulness. The contacts they gave me have been working perfectly, and I'm grateful for the free extra lens cases. -Bought Groupon $35 The eye doctor is in the office only Tuesdays. So I set my first appointment for my eye exam. I took a day off and got there a half hour early and they had me wait three hours. Then, they informed me they over booked appointments and asked me to reschedule for the next week. I took another day off of work to attend the appointment. I went through the exam and first they told me it's going to cost more for my lenses. Also, they said on top the Groupon fee $35 there was a extra $40 fee for the exam. (It was not in the Groupon Deal. ) The guy said that the total fee was $650- $200 (credit ). So I decided to not to get glasses. They refused to give me my prescription or sample contact lenses because I didn't pay extra $40. It was wasting time and money. I do not recommend this place. read more

I should of read the reviews before giving this place a chance. I can honestly say this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at an optometrist. Similar to the other reviews, the owner tried to charge me an additional fee after my exam. A fee that wasn't mentioned at all before the exam... That was super frustrating, but the worst part was how unprofessional he was. He started yelling with an aggressive and stern tone. I was telling him, you can't charge me for something after the fact. You should of told me BEFORE the exam, that that's not a way to run a business. He straight up responded: "Don't tell me about being moral or being a business man. Give me the money or I wont give you your prescription". As the others said below, stay away. We are the customers, we are giving them our hard-earned money; in return they should provide a great service and show a lot of respect. There are hundreds of optometrist in the city who understand that, don't waste your time dealing with this horrible place. P.S. I wish I could give this place zero stars. This review is only for the contact exam. I redeemed a groupon here for an contact eye exam. It was about at year ago. And it was a good deal. 35$ for the fitting and a $200 credit for glasses. While administering my exam, (to my surprise) the doctor told me that my prescription should weaker... much weaker. I protested a bit when he gave me a sample pair of contacts. Life now seemed much blurier. When I told him that the prescription didn't seem right he just sighed and basically told me he was the doctor and that he knew best. I ended up purchasing a 6 months worth of these contacts because I could not afford another (especially market price) exam. After recently seeing a different doctor, they confirmed my complaints about my vision. I was prescribed -1.75 (btw he wanted to make it -1:50 but I begged for something stronger) when I should be really be wearing -2.0 and -2.25. Came here after I purchased a Groupon for a contact lens fitting and eye exam. The doctor I saw (I don't know his name and the signature on my prescription is not legible) completed both the exam and the fitting in under 15 minutes. After doing my eye exam he told me I had neovascularization and that I should take a break from contacts because my eyes were not receiving enough oxygen. I was told my eyes were in terrible condition for my age. He managed to worry me enough to go to an actual professional. The ophthalmologist I saw later told me that while there was neovascularization, it was not as severe as I was told. He explained the condition in detail and further reassured me that there are steps I can take to care for my eyes. Even better, he gave me a more accurate prescription for glasses which I know because he didn't rush to complete my exam. I will never buy a Groupon for healthcare purposes again! read more

I cannot say enough great things about this place. The location, selection and employees are all top notch. I came in a few weeks ago after getting the Groupon for $35 that included a contacts lens and eyeglasses exam, pair of trial contacts and $200 towards a pair of glasses. The doctor was friendly and handed out some tough love about the lack of care when using my contacts. She gave me the prescriptions and insisted I get a pair of glasses for the health of my eyes. The owner was EXTREMELY patient with me as I tried on NUMEROUS frames and finally chose a pair. He also gave me the greatest deal ever! (I thought the Groupon was a steal until I looked up what my glasses would have cost me somewhere else.) TNot only were my glasses PERFECT, they even held them until I came back from vacation! I truly love my frames and this place. The only small problem I have is that the doctor is only in one day a week which made it a little difficult to fit into my schedule. Hi, Well, I had a Groupon, So, the cost for an eye exam, a frame and lenses were in total reasonable. They did not go over price because of my coupon so I ended up buying a new pairs of lenses for my old frame as well. They were really professional, they allotted a lot of time and helped me to choose the right frame. I was in a hurry and they made the lenses as fast as possible. Ilya even offered to drop the eye glasses for me in Manhattan. Since then, I always referred them to my friends. It's definitely worth the price. But I needed a tinted glasses which's additional of course and the colour I wanted was very specific even though I didn't have any sample or picture. But Mr. IIya seems really care what customers need so I decided let's give it a try. Oh my I'm so glad I trusted him, he just got one right, I mean perfect one!! His advise's right on point, he knows exactly what he's doing. The price's affordable considering what's you're getting. This place was fine. I had a coupon for an eye exam and $200 off a pair of frames. I had my vision checked for contact lenses and glasses. Although the eye exam office smelled like lunch had just been eaten there, which I found unprofessional, the eye exam was perfectly good. The eye doctor took his time and didn't rush me. Getting your vision checked is a participatory event - you have to chime in if you don't feel that you're getting the right prescription, and you'll know because you won't be able to read the lines in front of you! So, to the other reviewer who was skeptical of the exam, I feel that she could have spoken up a bit more. I basically only had my vision checked and passed on the frames offer. Even with $200 off, the cheapest frames that I liked would have been $370 after getting my lenses put in (I am near sighted and have astigmatism in both eyes). That's just too much money for glasses, especially since newer and more affordable options have cropped up. If you need to get your vision checked or get a pair of Fendi frames, go here! The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because I was kept waiting roughly 40 mins after my appt, which kinda sucks since I got there 15 mins early and had to leave work early to get there on time. That aside, the doctor was super nice and appeared to care about me, and was also very knowledgeable. I can see how the appts get backed up since he takes his time. But they should really take that into consideration when scheduling. The other plus was that they matched 1800 contacts price and arranged for the lenses to b delivered to my office by Friday (appt was on Tuesday) AND - the best part of all - the salesman didn't try to shove anything down my throat, which was a relief. read more

I used to go to Moscot but I switched insurance which they no longer take so it's been quite annoying to find the same level of quality AND service. I went to LensCrafters and Warby Parker and was not that happy with the quality of my glasses. People were nice and service was good but I just wasn't feeling it for the glasses (got two pairs that I'm meh about). A friend recommended me to this place and I just had an amazing experience getting my current pair of glasses. It's family owned and they took such care in making sure I was satisfied (I have some difficult vision problems and am a difficult person to fit bec of the bridge of my nose). As I work at a computer all day, it was getting to be such a hassle not having the right pair of glasses. I dealt mostly with the woman and she is lovely. I really see the benefit of shopping "local" and supporting local businesses as they really care about the customer in a way that bigger companies just cannot. read more

Let me preface this by saying that I'm addicted to groupon, and on a pretty tight budget... A few weeks ago I realized I was on my last pair of contact lenses and needed to find a place to get a contact exam done. After quickly browsing through groupon, I realized most places excluded contact exams if the client had astigmatism, or charged an extra fee, or had a million other exceptions or rules to using their groupon. My Unique Optique, on the other hand, did not have any exceptions to their contact fitting exam and it was quick and efficient! Not only that but they actually gave me a copy of my prescription too.. Seems small, but many places will try to keep it from you so that you have to purchase contacts from them and only them (which is illegal and annoying...) Which brings me to great point #2-- they price match 1800 contacts. Of course I'm going to give my money to the small company that just gave me a $35 eye exam with no extra fees, than an online company that probably rakes it in. Also, the president, Ilya,informed me that my Acuvue Oasis contacts are actually only two week contacts, which silly me, I had never realized and had been wearing them for a month at a time! Never had any of my previous opticians mentioned this to me. So they actually care about your eye sight here and aren't just trying to make money off of you like many other places. Speaking of Ilya, He was also so patient and helpful as I looked around picking out frames with my $200 groupon credit. (This includes me sitting down for abou ten minutes while I pondered whether I wanted to spring for the frames or not) To be honest, I wasn't prepared to buy a new pair of frames but I found THE MOST AMAZING pair of frames and they finally came up to $150 after the credit was applied. It was $150 for frames and lens (when my eyesight is pretty bad...), so I was pretty pleased. All in all I was so pleased with my experience, I had to sign up for yelp to make everyone else come here. If you're stuck between deciding whether to get a groupon or just make a visit here, DO IT! You won't be disappointed. You'll meet a friendly eye doctor- Dr. Lau, friendly staff, and an amazing president of the company. P.S. I'm usually really stingy with my money because as I mentioned I'm on a budget... but the frames were perfect. They are rude, unprofessional, and they lie. I bought a $35 Groupon for glasses and contact lens exam plus a $200 credit towards glasses. This Groupon stated "appointment required" so I called to make an appointment. On my first call, it was bad connection on their end (I called from a land line) and I asked if I was on speaker phone they hung up on me. I called back and was able to make my appointment. The day before my appointment they left me a strange voice message telling me to be sure to "bring your prescription" to the appointment. Why would I make an appointment for an eye exam if I already had a prescription? Anyway, when I showed up on time they had me fill out a new customer form and after I handed it to them they told me "you can go walk around" and motioned to the door. I asked "do you mean outside?" They replied "yes." I asked "why, how long will it be before I'm seen?" They said "maybe 40 minutes." I told them I had an appointment and they said they were busy with other customers and gave the distinct impression that because it was a Groupon they did not give it priority. I told them I couldn't wait that long and I was told the next available appointment was in 1 week. I asked if I could actually be seen at the appointed time next week and they said only "we try." I walked out and am now trying to get my money refunded by Groupon. read more
