I am very impressed with the quality and detail of the two inspections I have ordered from Russell…read moreand his team. Both were distant internet purchases where it was not feasible time or money wise to travel to the dealers. When a delay in the scheduled inspection came up I was notified immediately so I was not waiting for a late report back. The reports Texas 1st provides are exactly what you need to make a buying decision. They will call you just after the inspection and provide you with a report over the phone so you can make a decision to wait for the detailed report via email or pass on that vehicle immediately. In my case both vehicles were in tough shape which the photos from their websites didn't show. The unseen oil leaks and blue smoke on the test drive are tell-tale signs of bigger issues. Nicks, dings and chipped windscreens also don't show up in the pictures or the sellers descriptions but Texas 1st notes them all. Since the first two inspections yielded two duds I'm quickly working on the next car on my list, contacting the dealer for availability and scheduling for Texas 1st to inspect. Yes they have earned my repeat business because they are that good. Now you may think spending $169 to inspect a car as expensive but It is not. I bought our last vehicle sight unseen and 900 miles away ten years ago and still own and drive it daily. No issues with it except for those items listed in the inspection report. Needed tires, sales price was adjusted for that and I replaced the tires. Needed an alignment, had that taken care of as well. I look at the cost of the inspection as money well spent. A Texas First Auto Inspection is a big tool in my/your toolbox when purchasing a used car. I would use Russell and his team even if I was local because they are so easy to work with and it eliminates me taking the vehicle to an inspector that could be on the other side of town. Another way to think about Texas 1st is they are like a OBD2 code reader. You plug them into the vehicle and they tell you all that is wrong with it. Simple as that.

Absolutely terrible inspection service. I'd give them less than 0 stars if Yelp allowed…read more I paid $90 above their standard inspection service for their special EV Inspection package (plus a paint meter add-on) for a used Kia Niro EV that I was interested in. Their website's package listing promises that their report would include charging system testing, a battery health/degradation/remaining-life evaluation, an evaluation of regenerative braking, and a vehicle history review. These were valuable points to me, because battery health is very important to understand when buying a used EV. Unfortunately, the report they initially sent me was half-baked. It documented practically none of the EV-centric information mentioned in their service listing: battery health only amounted to a single percentage listed in the summary, no information on charging ports/charging system testing/or regenerative braking performance was included, the vehicle history was missing entirely, the paint meter information was missing, etc. In my original order submission, I'd also asked if they could evaluate cell balance data and fault code history, but that didn't appear in the report either. After about a week of frustrating back-and-forth messaging asking for the missing data (apparently they were too busy to quickly address their service failures), I wound up receiving a "completed" report from them --- which, much to my surprise, didn't even match with the original report's findings. The "battery health" changed from 96% to 98%, the flagged exterior damage list grew substantially, other items flipped in ways that didn't even make sense for the car (e.g. it went from having power seats to manual seats), and items like the headlights, taillights, and airbag service light were, unexpectedly, now listed as failed or broken. The new charging "information" amounted to a couple of extra brief line items, and there was still no vehicle history report included. For all I knew, the report very well could have been invented from their imagination, given how different it was from the original. Unfortunately for me, while I was wasting time trying to figure out their half-baked and conflicting reports, the dealership selling the Niro had stopped waiting for me, and sent it off to auction. Worst yet, when I pointed out all of the new report's inconsistencies to them, Texas Prepurchase Auto Inspection didn't make an attempt to explain themselves, or correct the report --- they decided to go radio silent. I never got an explanation for the missing service items, nor the inexplicably revised results. So don't believe these frauds; they'll take your money, give you a report that can't be trusted, then leave you hanging when you try to hold them accountable.

Discount Oil Change Express

I have came to this same building for my oil changes and even state inspections for 5 years, since…read more2015. The company at the time who did business in the building was named Texas Oil Express. For years I have always had been happy doing business with Texas Oil Express. Usually whenever I would go to any shop involving auto repairs and oil changes, every employee always looked annoyed and were always being rude just because you didn't know something about your car. The employees and even the manager were never like that with me whenever they gave me an oil change or when they had found something faulty going on within my vehicle. They had been the nicest and coolest people I ever met, and always looked forward to arriving when I needed an oil change. I remember coming after Christmas Day and was saddened that Texas Oil Express was gone. But was happy to hear that most of the employees transferred to Take 5 Oil Change which was only minutes away from the original building. From what I have been told months later, most of the employees and manager had been dropped or fired from Take 5. I was upset to hear the news this. Not to mention just right around March I had to get my oil change, I was not satisfied at all with how much the price was for my oil change was from Take 5. It was much more expansive than what I usually paid for in Texas Oil Express. When July had came around so I could change it again, I was planning to head to Take 5 but remembering not being happy about the price and service. I checked on Google and saw that Discount Oil Change Express had just opened, and even saw that they were doing business the same building I was familiar with. Franklin, the person owns Discount Oil, from what he told me was once an employee of Texas Oil Express and even knew the employees of it before it shut down. Around my stop I was planning to take the conventional oil change which was their cheapest. But I decided to take the high mileage one which is $29.99, which to me was a great deal. Franklin was very cool with me and him and his employee changing my oil was straightforward and quick to get my oil change. And what's even great as that most of my information from coming to the place was already under their records. Franklin was really nice as well as his employee working with him, and the service was excellent. They did everything that I enjoyed Texas Oil Express was doing before they closed shop, and I am happy that Franklin and rest of the staff have taken the building to do business. I highly recommend this place and wish to do business whenever I need an oil change or a state inspection.

We've been coming here for all our vehicle inspections for 30 years with no complaints. The…read moregentleman that used to own/run it was always fast, friendly, professional, and reasonably priced. However, today's experience was so over the top, unprofessional, and insulting as we've ever had with any business. Ever. My husband and I took our daughter's car in for inspection. An older man that we've seen prior was there along with a young kid that looked like he was in training. A few minutes into the inspection, they waved my husband out to the garage. The young kid had unplugged the theft tracking device AND our OBD2 port, without asking us about it, then threatened to fail the car as the plug in device they use was reading an error as it was not getting any information from the car. By the way, the car is a 2023 Nissan Sentra with about 20k mi on it and it spotless condition. When my husband asked him to in the future please ask prior to doing any of this, the kid replied that he didnt need to ask us about anything. Um, yes you do, it's not your car. He then told us he was failing us and then told my husband he needed to stop drinking and driving because he could smell it on him. Wow. My husband rarely drinks and hasn't even had a beer in over a month. I'm sure what he supposedly 'smelled' was hard work and an intolerance for a boy-child's bull****. We left and went to a different place and oh yeah, it passed with no problem. Zero stars if possible.

Have been here many times. Quick inspection. Maybe takes 10 min at most. Headed there now. Lolread more
