***Update 04/08/2015 Indeed Wil the owner of IDB Racing and the person who worked on my car had his attorney send me legal papers claiming I defamed his name/shop. ***Update 03/27/2015 Wil the owner contacted me this afternoon saying why I did not contact him before posting a negative comment about his shop. My answer exactly what he told me previously that because he did not purchase the part he is not going to warranty the installation even though his installation was the problem. He then offered to reimburse me for the repair he did on the SMG pump and the additional cost I incurred if I removed this post. I said I would contact him later because I was at work. When I did get off and tried to contact him to talk he said "don't even bother". His exact words "YOU'LL BE RECEIVING DOCUMENTATION FROM MY ATTORNEY. I have text messages of all this if anyone would like I can forward it to you if you think I am lying. It's simple I paid you to repair my car and it was not repaired properly. I took it elsewhere and they fixed it. The facts are the facts and I have all the documentation to support my claims. It's very unprofessional to threaten your ex customers with legal action. I have done nothing wrong and in no court of law will a defamation case stand if that is the direction he is headed. Why can't people just own up to their mistakes and move on. I have nothing to hide. I have told the truth and nothing more. He can contact BMW West to verify exactly what was repaired on my car to resolve the issue he was not able to fix. Wil has worked on my father's and my cars for several years now without incident and has saved us a ton of money. For example, Wil was able to fix a fuel pump on a 53 citroen when 99% of the other guys would of just had us replace it. Replacing such a part isn't the easiest nor the fastest thing to do. However, he works on everything from new exotics, classics, and your run of the mill daily drivers. In short, if you're tired of getting shafted by dealers and other mechanics; take your car to IDB. I've had other indy shops in the Houston area work on my BMW, but after the level of service I received at IDB Racing, it will be the ONLY place I take my car to from now on. Wil (the owner) and his crew are absolutely THE most courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. I originally came in to have a pesky oil leak fixed and not only was it fixed correctly quite quickly, but they also took the time to address some other last minute concerns I had. They do honest, quality work at insanely good prices! I still can't believe how much money I saved. Their level of service is absolutely head and shoulders above the rest. If you have an exotic or european import, there isn't a better place in the city to take your car. Highly recommended! read more

Yet again, I am blown away. I've written a review here before explaining how Wil (IDB) took over work on my truck correcting issues caused by an incompetent mechanic shop who had replaced my engine and transmission. Everything he's done for me, I haven't had to worry about again. Peace of mind is PRICELESS! Last week my oil pressure bottomed out and I FREAKED! I don't have the money to replace an oil pump (very expensive labor on my old 4WD pickup) or an engine right now! I hit Wil up and told him the situation. Last time, he sent someone with a trailer to pick my truck up in Lufkin and didn't even charge me for the transport. This time, he looked up and worked out the problem with me. He explained to me in explicit detail (necessary for a mechanically handicapped fool like myself) what to do and how to do it to save myself some money. He gave me information that I would never have found on my own, and loaned me confidence (with instructions and repeatedly reassuring me that it's a really simple process) to diagnose the problem on my own. We have determined that my oil pump is fine, and it's my instrument cluster that's defective. This means I can get around and back to work until I can afford to replace my instruments. I can't say enough about this guy. I'm not sure why he's been so good to me. He didn't make any money at all off of this, which he might not want me advertising, but he saved my ass, and he saved me HUNDREDS of dollars I don't have by keeping me out of these local shops that would have probably replaced the pump right off the bat and not fixed anything. I am immeasurably grateful, and as I've said before, Wil Kitchens is my mechanic for life. I trust him, and that's worth more than money to me. read more

Made an account to post this. Wil was extremely professional and helpful when we took in my 2001 Honda Accord cash car in for repairs. He fixed everything that needed addressing, stopped a terrible oil leak, and even offered a guarantee on his work with the systems he fixed. When other parts of my car continued to deteriorate (the transmission), he gave me a fair estimate and told me in his opinion it was time to get it off my back. I will continue to take my vehicles to Wil. He's proven more than once that he is up to any task. This is a gem of a repair shop run by smart and talented individuals who are flat out good guys. read more

I'm not sure about the one guy with the bad rating on the SMG pump fix for his E46 M3, but my experience is like everyone else on yelp that has come to IDB Racing which is nothing short of spectacular. I had multiple different issues with my BMW M3 and every time something came up Wil was prompt with getting it sorted out and fixed. One of my issues with the car was also the SMG failure and I needed to change out the spring and pump. The part price and labor cost was the best in town and so was the attention to detail. Not only were my problems fixed, but every time the car was cleaned up under the hood and without grease stains or bolts left loose like other shops in Houston. I recommend them over everyone in Houston without hesitation. In a city filled with 2 star shops IDB Racing is easily a 5 star company. read more

I used IDB for a PPI on a 981 Porsche Cayman, and I would definitely use them again. They were able to schedule me on short notice, and performed a very thorough evaluation, reaveling some issues that could have cost over $1000 to fix. I'm really glad I let IDB perform the PPI, it was definitely worth the expense. read more

This shop was highly recommended to me and I have used them twice. Once to correct a hard-to-diagnose driveline noise and another time to do a pre-purchase inspection of a classic vehicle. On both occasions I was dealt with professionally Repairs and inspections were accomplished on-time and in a very competent manner. I was impressed by the variety of exotic cars in the shop. I dont know where to start... The owner Wil is amazing! His professionalism and skills are well above average (the best). I agree with the reviews... If you are tired of getting shafted then call Wil. I do not know much about auto repairs and it would be easy to take advantage of my situation... I do know that he works on anything that has a motor and rolls. His shop is very fast and easy on the pocket book. Wil looks for any way to save you money. I know this sounds crazy but it is absolutely true. This man has gone above and beyond to help me and his other costumers. I will never use another mechanic on any of my vehicles. IDB racing was recommended to me by a co-worker about two years ago and i am glad i went to them. I brought my car in today (2015 mercedes benz cla250) for the second time first for service A and now for service B. I have had nothing but good experiences with Wil and IDB racing. I called to set an appointment based around my work schedule and Wil offered to come in 2 hours early just to make sure i could drop it off. Pricing is very reasonable compared to some dealer costs.
