We bought food for a party and it was excellent. The chicken enchiladas were tasty, the beans had a slight kick, and the meats were delicious. I decided to try this place again after 9 years. The rice and beans are not very good. Disappointing. It's ok though. Taquitos are ok the salsa bar is no longer. It all started with just trying to order the tacos. On the menu, they are so well priced, but then for 3 street tacos I got quoted over $30! I asked why and she told me it was my toppings. At that point, I made sure to reduce down all tacos toppings to nothing, but the price tag was still more than listed on the menu without any explanation as to why. I needed lunch so I reluctantly moved forward. I waited a bit (not too long) for the order. Before leaving, I asked if the drink I ordered was in the bag and was told it was. Shame on me for not checking at this point and as the customer service was not friendly and clearly uninterested in taking or prepping orders. I get back, no drink and try the tacos. I have been searching for a really good wet burrito and I found it. Both my husband and I got a wet vegetarian burrito, one casero and the other chipotle. We got both burritos to go and OMG, they were so good. Next time, we'll be eating there cause I'm sure it'll taste better fresh out of the kitchen. A few days ago, I ordered four beef steak burritos. Since it was takeout, I didn't leave a special tip. Perhaps because of that, the female server wasn't very friendly and made the food so salty that it was inedible. I think she intentionally added salt to make it inedible. I was so angry and upset that I wanted to take the receipt and confront the manager, but I gave up, thinking, "I'll just not go back." He'll never go back to My Taco again. read more

I've been coming to this place for years. The quality of the food has been decent and service used to always be friendly. Unfortunately, my experience during my recent visit in a Sunday was very unpleasant. I walked in around 11:00 and I was the lone customer. A young woman saw me from the kitchen and sloowwwly came up to the cash register. Instead of offering a greeting or asking me for my order she merely stood behind the counter and stared at me. So I said I'd like a large barbacoa. She rang it up without a word except to tell me the total. I said I also wanted a tostada mixta. She said "we don't have that" without any further explanation in whether they didn't it just today or ever. So I asked about the cocktel de camerones and she said "what?" with a surly attitude. I thought I might not have pronounced it correctly since I don't speak any Spanish and might have slaughtered the language so I repeated it. And once again her very short response was "we don't have that". So why the F did they have these things in the menu? I gave up and just paid for my barbaco. I decided to order a few other tacos as the barbacoa was being prepared in the kitchen. The same young lady gave me the same poor attitude. I ordered one of the tacos with "head", she said again "what?!" So I repeated my order and she responded with an attitude saying that's cabeza. Then I ordered marinated pork and again with an attitude she said "what is marinated pork?" That's was was listed on the menu board. Why didn't she know their own menu? By now the experience was extremely unpleasant so I ended the order and just wanted to get my food and leave. I noticed that she was much nicer to other Hispanic customers that came after me. I've read other reviews that indicated they also experienced similarly poor service attitude so this was not an isolated incident. I guess you're not welcome here unless you're Hispanic. I don't care how good their food is I'd never put up with lousy service attitude. They've just lost a long time customer. read more

An intense craving for horchata hit me one night so I decided to check out the closest one and I found this place. Their menu looked good so I went and order a mulita as well. They had soo much variety for meat, I feel like whenever I go to mexican spots they're usually out of lengua. Not here I finally got sum lengua !!! Food was bomb and service was great as well. I give them a 2.5 or 3 as their service actually dropped. I had stopped going to this restaurant over 2 yrs ago as I was treated very rudely by their staff members when calling in for a phone order and I was given the wrong order. I even called the day after to complain to the manager but it seems as if my complaint was dismissed. So I decided to give them a chance last week and was kind of not pleased by how the order came out. I was a fan of their food, including their carne asada fries but this time it looks like it was overdone and very unappeasing. The fries looked burned which shouldn't be offered like this at all and the cheese was just ordinary. The presentation was meh and the taste was just ok. Even with call in service, I don't think I'd go back to this establishment. I am glad they are open for pick up for other customers though. read more

Sometimes I really like My Taco and other times it disappoints. This time it was mostly on the mark. The Carne Asada fries are legit, they are cheesy they are meaty and they have a heaping helping of guacamole, but they could you some Pico de Gallo to freshen them up a bit. My friend really swears by the potato taco and she orders it every time. I need some protein in my tacos so I opted for the shrimp taco and Fish taco. The shrimp taco was good had nice flavoring and wasnt overly cooked into rubberized pellets. The fish taco left me a bit disappointed it was pretty bland. The cabbage and slaw they put on both tacos is really refreshing and probably what saves it. Not pictured is a Carnitas Quesadilla which I thorough enjoyed. The greasy cheesy tortilla was paired with tomatoes and lettuce inside the quesadilla which is thoroughly untraditional and unexpected but you know what, I really enjoyed it. The freshness helped cut through the rich ness of the cheese and carnitas and livened it up a bit. I would order everything again but skip the fish taco. If you like hot salsa they have it, both the red and the green are pretty picanté. Enjoy! read more

Honestly, this place is a 3.5, but there's no decimal point average on yelp, so I will round it out to 4 stars. I got the 3 taco combo and the chile relleno by itself, I enjoyed 2 out of 3 tacos, and the chile relleno was just 'ok.' The 3 tacos I bought were 1) carne asada 2) al pastor 3) lengua. Carne asada and the al pastor were delicious, but the lengua was dry and chewy. Good lengua is moist and tender with melt in your mouth effect while eating. The lengua they serve here tasted old. Both carne asada and al pastor had fantastic marinate, while the chile relleno lacked cheese. Would I come back? Sure I would. read more

Maria and the other server really need to learn to listen to customers orders. When I am telling you can I have a cabeza burrito don't repeat back to me a carne asada burrito please. I ordered 1 cabeza monster burrito, a cabeza all meat burrito n a lengua plate, asked her to repeat the order back to me twice n of course I arrive 15 min later n the order was not ready because the server messed up . I ordered a milanesa torta. I did not like it. The milanesa was too thin and it was breaded. The breading was too greasy and didn't seem like it was made to order. That was unfortunate because the bread was just right, not too thick like other places. The lettuce, cheese, and guacamole were fresh and tasty. While in the Pasadena/Highland Park area, my friend and I needed a quick spot to grab a bite to eat. I suggested tacos and she suggested My Taco -- and I'm quite pleased she did. I looked at the menu and zoned in on the tacos. At a couple of bucks per taco, I assumed they had to be either tiny or lackluster. Still, I was willing to take a chance. I went with the Borrego (Lamb) Taco and the Carne Asada (Steak) Taco. My friend opted for the Carne Asada Steak Fries. We called in our order and were told it would take about 10-15 minutes. Not bad. Upon arrival, I was pleased to discover My Taco is in a plaza with ample parking. The decorations inside are quite appealing. There's a sauce and condiments stand by the two(!) restrooms. Spacious and colorful. Here's what we thought of our order: CARNE ASADA STEAK FRIES - A mound of avocado on top of sour cream, oodles of steak, and a thick bed of french fries. - Not the messiest looking Carne Asada Fries I've ever seen, which I liked. No weird ingredients, too. - The charbroiled steak pieces were delicious! Glad they didn't skimp on those. - Hard to stop eating. Seriously. CARNE ASADA TACO - Wrapped in the tiniest little pile of foil. - Plenty of steak -- and only steak -- wrapped in two soft tacos. - No onions, pico de gallo, cole slaw, anything... Simple and delish. BORREGO TACO - Lamb taco, also wrapped in a tiny piece of foil. - Boy, when I opened up that foil, I was not impressed. It looked like a mound of... well, you can guess by the picture. - Once I broke up that mound and tore the lamb pieces apart, I fell in love. The lamb is SO TENDER and flavorful. - I need to order lamb tacos more often. Do all taco places carry lamb, or is that something special and exclusive? I'd come back again and again. Plain tacos are definitely MY kind of TACO. I'll have to order extra of those lamb tacos next time, but I also want to try their other meats. I am quite impressed. read more

I had actually stopped going to My Taco about 2 years ago after my Chile relleno and beef cocido was terrible. Well Friday, March 1st, 2024, I was craving cocido so I thought I'd give My Taco another chance. I hoped maybe they had a new cook, geez was I WRONG. I waited 20 minutes or more for my order, mind you the place was empty at about 4 pm. I rushed home to eat it hot, as soon as I transferred some of it to a bowl, added some rice, onion & cilantro. I took a spoonful and as soon as my taste buds had it, my mind said "WTH IS THIS" it tasted like what rusted or dirty water would taste like. I smelled it and it was off. I asked my granddaughter to taste it and she agreed that it wasn't good, possibly dirty water or fish broth mixed beef bullion. What ever it was, I tossed the bowl out and have the half container to take back to request a refund today. I will never forget this terrible experience and will definitely not come back to this establishment again, not even to give it a 3rd chance!!! read more
