My first indication should have been the place was empty, except for the nail tech who I wouldn't dare allow to work on me she was totally unprofessional as she slept on the nail chair with dirty bare feet. The stylist there was very unfriendly and very unprofessional. I went because I had a groupon, I'm looking for a stylist huge mistake! I went in for root touch up, came out with a whole head of very dark hair, highlights covered completely because she went to answer a call right when my head was in sink for rinse & stayed to long. Yes, I'm pissed because I just got my hair to the color I wanted with beautiful highlights & bought expensive extensions to match! Back to Aveda Institute I go For a student to correct! So I decided to leave a pretty extensive review for this place. This was the first place I have gone to in a year to cut my hair, as well as the first place I have tried in Vegas. I purchased a groupon, 22 dollars for a cut, deep condition and style. At first glance when I entered the place I was not impressed. It looks like a step up from great clips but with out dated furniture, stations, etc. It was clean and Rocio who was the only one there was pretty friendly. I immediately started checking yelp while waiting and instantly got nervous because of the reviews. I have CRAZY thick, curly hair and was shaking in my shoes when I heard of so many bad experiences BUT it went really well. Rocio was nice. I told her I just wanted an inch off and she did just that. I also wanted my hair to be straightened which is quite the challenge and I thought for sure she was going to charge me more based on the reviews I saw but she didn't. She actually got my hair straightened faster and nicer than a lot of the salons I have been to. The cut was nothing special so I can't say either way how I feel about it because I literally just got an inch off and a little thinning. I didn't even want her to even out my A-Line too much because I am trying to grow my hair out and want to wait til it gets longer to even it out. Overall I am happy. read more

I highly, highly recommend LaDonna! I've been a client of hers for almost two years and she's by far the best hair stylist I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. She knows what she's doing, and doesn't settle for anything less than perfect. I love that she really listens and takes the time to cut your hair exactly how you want it. I was looking for a nail salon to get my nails done for a vacation I had coming up. I didn't want to leave a review since she was nice and I felt bad. But after my nail fell only after the second day I was done. What was done to me was a JOKE. The lady not only didn't know what she was doing . She took FOREVER... 6 hours to be exact and I didn't even get my nail painted since after she did the first one it got worst if that was possible. She didn't glue my nails right they had air bubbles. She didnt know how to shape, cut and file my nails right, to the point after 3 hours I had to ask her for the nail file to do it my self! I even had to tell her what to do which is crazy since she's licensed and you would think she know what she's doing but no! She was lost! Even the acrylic couldn't fix them it was bulky n all over my fingers. I had to fixed them myself for my trip and not only that they kept falling everyday during my vacation to the point I had to carry a glue with me at all times. New to the area and needing my hair done ASAP i didn't spend much time looking at all the different salons located in Vegas, I just booked something as quickly as possible. Lesson learned! I've had ombré/balayage for over a year and was wanting it freshened up! Dark on the roots and blonde on the length. Jocelyn took her time and was very friendly! After about 4 hours of time spent to see that my hair is a golden tone on the roots and the rest completely blonde was not what I requested. Very deceiving as far as pricing goes. The stylist will tell you to not buy the Groupon , then she will add on more charges , so that what is supposed to be a good deal , ends up costing 3x the Groupon price. Wow...bought a Groupon with rocio (since I just moved here, and don't know anyone), it was horrible. She was in a bad mood. I just needed my roots highlighted because I put a purple over it. I just like highlights on top to blend. They are stripey, and she wet my face and just put the towel on my head and walked away. Really??? I knew she was in a bad mood but I figured it would change after starting. NOPE! Even with the Groupon it's not worth it. I've been a stylist for 10 years, I would have never done that to anyone. I'm not happy with my hair. I wanted a balayage ash blonde on my already brassy hair from my four months old of bleach. Rocio said no worry, but also no promises cause she doesn't know if my hair will lift up to have the results. I was there on time for my appointment. The appointment was with Rocio, the owner. She was multi-tasking/finishing off her earlier appointment while wrapping foil with bleach on my old bleach hair instead of my roots, she said not to go to roots (where my natural black hair grew out for four months, where I'll like to touch up with the ombre) cause it'll be yellow afterwards while I'm thinking we're going go put toner on my hair later so why does it matter (?) but I didn't say anything after that cause I'm not a hair expert. She wanted me to sit with the bleach for an hour, on which I told her that is too long... she let me sat for 45 minutes. During the time she was wrapping my hair, she kept saying oh my hair is so healthy, and it's a lot of hair. And while I was sitting, i was not feeling well due to chemicals lingering in the shop, i just tone the place out. It was a busy Thursday morning but i zoned out and even closed my eyes. after the 45 min bleaching, she took all the foils and washed my hair. She was not gentle at all, very rough hair rise, wash, comb, ran her fingers through my hair--it was not pleasant. But I'm a rough cookie, I didn't make any sound nor complain. But I was wishing it'll be over soon. As for toning, it was just as worst as washing. Not a great experience to have your hair being pull, roughly scrubbed or comb. It was very painful. Back to the chair, I was afraid of the results. I don't need to check, I just know. Its the feeling that only you, yourself know. It was not what I asked for. I was beyond sad/disappointed to say anything. I just want to get out due to the fact that i needed to go to work. Plus her next appointment was there, so I just asked for a quick blow dry and I'm good to go. She then kept saying that i need a haircut while blow drying my hair and using her hand to lift my fatigue hair instead of a brush to brush my hair. And i kept telling that I don't want a haircut nor plan to. I told her this way before we start and even when i made the appointment. My poor overstress hair, it is completely fried hair on the bleach parts plus a huge amount of hair broke off on the left side (more than half of the length!) broke off!!! It is so damaged! i still cannot cry how miserable i am but braided my very dead dry hair of mine cause it's so frizzy and dry!!!! Never go to a Vegas hair salon again! Never again! I just want to chop off my hair. And my roots are still dark! She didn't even touch up my roots! Just bleach on my old bleach which is why it's so elastic and broking off! I'm so sad. $185 not including tips for my poor result, which was a poor ash silver tone that looks like it desperately needs a touch up on my roots. No where close to blonde. I would not recommend any other Asian hair to come to this place for balayage. read more

Came in with a Groupon. First, they surcharge me because I have "hair that's too long" (even though it's thin... really??). I sigh and say okay because I'm already there. I ask for an inch off the end and VERY light layers. I said about 5 times I didn't want ANYTHING drastic. After she starts cutting, I stop her, like a responsible patron, to question how much she's cutting off. She assures me it's "just for layering." Fast forward 10 minutes later. The woman took AT LEAST 2.5 inches off length and some of the layers are probably 6 inches shorter than they should be. Perhaps she missed when I said DONT do anything drastic. Perhaps she could also use a ruler. Or common sense. When a patron stops you about the length you don't barrel ahead and just keep cutting. I feel disrespected, frustrated and stuck with this haircut. And after the whole experience I'm charged EXTRA? Wow. DONT COME HERE. read more

Same as the previous reviews, told me it would be an upcharge for the length of my hair. I'm sorry you expected someone to come in with a pixie cut lol Her outdated hair was about 4inches below the shoulders and I said my hair would be cut to that length, so why the upcharge. After she looks at herself in the mirror and flips her hair, she retorts, "that's just what it is." So, of course, I walked out with a sour taste in my mouth. Here's some advice: close your shop and find a different career or get an education on how to run a business. Terrible! I bought a groupon a while back & was sooo disappointed! First the lady that cut hair was awkward & unprofessional. She had the roughest hands with my hair & kept getting me behind the ear with the comb. The groupon was for cut & style but she acted like she was done after the cut so I had to remind her of the style. She definitely didn't want to do it because she half assed blow dried my hair & when I asked for nice loose relaxed curls, she briefly went over with a straightener & added a couple curls here & there. It was frizzy & a mess. I went home & fixed it myself. I'm not one to be dramatic about hair. When I go for a haircut, I usually say just a trim but go with what you feel. I get tired of the same thing again & again. But this place was terrible. Pretty sure the 5star reviews on here are from the employees there themselves. The cut was OK...I never worry too much about the cut...it will grow....and she took my Living Social coupon and charged accordingly but 2nd time way more...so did not tip....then went for color with a coupon for a $55 highlight...she changed $100 (no cut) I paid but no tip...3rd time, cut and touch up....$165....dye on my face...my hair looked a mess...the color was way bad...and the last one faded and thank goodness this one did too....every time she either forgot to be there for my appointment or forgot to right it down....there will be no 4th time...am I just stupid or patient???? Rocio did my hair & I asked to go A LITTLE BIT lighter & she said my hair won't go lighter, I can go darker but not lighter. my hair takes very easily & black would have been going darker. so once I said no.. she said I can do highlights to make it look lighter. so she put 9 foils in, didn't tell me what color & it was the lightest blonde that didn't even go with my hair & charged an extra $20. from that point on, she was on the phone through my whole service. my package came with a deep conditioning treatment..... she left regular conditioner in my hair for 5 minutes. read more

Terrible terrible terrible service and hair. I can honestly say I've never been so disappointed in my life. As SOON as I got there, the owner (who did my hair) instantly told me that it's going to be 20$ extra because my hair is longer than my shoulders, which I was fine with. I then showed her what I wanted done, which was a simple solid dark burgundy color. She took about 10 minutes to apply it all and then left it in for only about 15 minutes. Needless to say, my hair color was the exact same color as when I walked in. Not only this, but she didn't say one word to me the whole time & expected me to pay the full price for the terrible service and job done. I do not recommend this place to anyone, it's not anywhere near a professional salon. When we went over the color chart, she was directing me in another direction of what I wanted. Then proceeded to tell me my hair was long and would be an additional charge. I informed her the voucher did not state anything about being additional for long hair. She asked Rocio "she has long hair, it would be additional? Rocio responded "figure it out". Veronica went on to say it would be $20 to color, as the hair is long. Even though I was having it cut below the shoulder. I didn't have waist length hair, by far. My review would be much better if it weren't for the unethical business practices of the employees/owner. The hairdresser did a good job cutting my hair. She actually listened and gave me just what I asked for. However, while she was shampooing my hair she casually mentioned it would be an additional $10 because my hair was longer than shoulder length. While it is common to charge more when highlighting or perming long hair, this is not standard for a haircut. Additionally, nowhere on the website does it say there is an additional charge for cutting long hair. I used a $20 Groupon and paid the additional $10, which isn't much of a deal when the price for new customers is supposed to be $25 according to the website. I suspect the employees are lying about the charge and hoping people will pay it in cash so they can pocket the money. read more

Horrible. Nail manicurist is a scammer. Go somewhere else for your nails and save yourself the horrible experience. The good reviews are from employees. I went in for a pedicure with a Groupon I had purchased. She was well aware of this. Jaclyn, Jacqueline, I am unsure of her name but starts with a J, was rude the entire service. She made me bleed and anytime I tried to interact she'd just look at me rudely and then speak to her daughter in Spanish. She was rude when I asked if they had any other colors because she handed me one color wheel option. She said "No". My husband sat by and watched. Finally towards the end (of course) she was asking about my baby because I'm pregnant. We had a decent conversation finally after the 2 hours I sat there...I got up and was supposed to get a manicure too (already paid for on Groupon) but decide to just give the Groupon and leave with half done because it was so uncomfortable being there and took so long. We pulled up the Groupon that showed it had been redeemed and tipped her. Upon seeing the Groupon, she says she can't use it and "tried" scanning it. There were a variety of excuses, followed with "Groupon only pays me 14$ of that". She assured ya this happens (no it doesn't). She suggested we pay her cash for the Groupon and come back in a few weeks to use it. We said "if we can use it in a week it should work now." She used her language barrier to pretend to be confused as she scammed us. All in front of her young daughter. She called a man and spoke to him in Spanish. My husband felt so uncomfortable he just paid her cash and wanted to get out of there because who knows what was being said. I called the owner the next day because this is a scam that's been heard of, and she stood up for her as far as her character and said they'd call me back to figure out the misunderstanding. NEVER called back and won't answer our calls. Don't give them business. She probably wasn't even licensed considering she said she's on a visa. We called Groupon to report it because this happens with these services and they assured us the Groupon worked. And on top of it all, the pedicure looks horrible. read more

I just looked back at my first review of Rocio's business My Salon. It was in 2014 and I had been a customer for 3 years. It's now 2019 and I'm still super happy with my hair. Rocio always does a great cut and the color is beautiful. I get compliments all the time. The other benefit is all of the fabulous and fun women I've met over the years.
