I found Jabeen on Groupon and scheduled a gel mani & pedi with her. It was easy to call and make the reservation. Her salon is in the cute little house on Maple Dr. Make sure you look closely as there are only yard signs in the front of the house. There are a few parking spots out front, but more around back. She greeted me when I walked up and I was shown to the wall of polish. She also offered me some water. I always have a hard time deciding on a color. I told her the turquoise I had in mind and she was so helpful is pulling out all the shades of turquoise she had. I then sat in this comfortable massage chair for my pedicure. She even turned on the massage options for me. With the scrub and warm towel wrap, the pedicure was wonderful. We moved onto the gel polish. Again she was so helpful when I showed her what I wanted. She paid much attention to applying the polish and made sure it had plenty of coats on and it looked great. She also offered nice conversation during my visit. I went on vacation for 2 weeks with the nails and one finger did start to chip a little after the first week, but all the others lasted for the duration of my trip (see photo). I've been going to a local threading salon in Buckhead, but the girl I went to moved to a new Marietta location and it was too far to justify it. It's terrifying going to a new eyebrow threader because every time I've tried, they get the shape wrong and mess up months worth of shape correction. Even when I just ask for a clean up, people get it wrong. Not Jabeen though. She was very warm and welcoming when I walked in and made me feel comfortable from the start. She sat there and listened to my concerns, analyzed the photo I gave her, and gave me the option to pause in the middle of the threading to give feedback. When she finished one eyebrow, she gave me the hand mirror to take a look... it was PERFECT. Super precise lines and shaping to match the photo I wanted. And it was very quick! Most people take a million swipes of the thread to clean up eyebrows, she took less and slower swipes. I'm so happy with my eyebrows. Thank you Jabeen! I'll definitely be coming back. BONUS: She has online booking that's so easy to do. The other salons I've been to didn't allow appointments for eyebrows, so I'd end up going and then told that I have to wait an hour for a wax appointment to finish (after driving 45 minutes to get to said salon). Had a wonderful experience at J Salon & Boutique with Jabeen. I got multiple services: manicure, spa pedicure, and eyebrow threading. The spa pedicure was luxurious and relaxing and included a scrub, warm lotion and oil massage, and a hot towel to soothe my travel weary legs and feet. They had a massage chair for pedicures so extra ahhhh. They had a great selection of colors and brands (OPI, Essie, and Zoya) but not overwhelming and included new shades as well. The eyebrow threading was quick, relatively painless (as painless as it can be), and Jabeen shaped and cleaned up my brows without losing their fullness (yay!) a perfect threading experience. The location was great with a lot of parking (especially in the back) and the interior was welcoming and relaxing. Overall a great experience, I will be back!!! read more

What can I say, unlike the other nail salons I've been to in Atlanta Jabeen is very courteous with your time. You walk in at your appointment time, spend about 50 minutes getting manicured, and it's over at about the estimated time. She has a very unique set up, she performs most if not all the appointments herself in a one-on-one setting. Jabeen is very talkative, I'm sure you will never run out of topics to talk about during your appointment.Usually I get clear since I'm a guy, but this time I ended up going French with pale pink and viridian tips just so I could surprise people. So, what am I going to say? In college I used to get my eyebrows threaded at a place in an Indian strip mall near campus for $4. After graduating and moving to Buckhead, I continued going back even though it was 15 miles away. For some reason I didn't trust eyebrow threading places in Buckhead; I just assumed they would be overpriced for no reason, plus I was a little terrified of trying somewhere new. We've all heard the horror stories. Then one day I noticed my eyebrows were in desperate shape but I didn't feel like driving all the way to Decatur, so I hopped on Yelp and found Jabeen. I'm not sure if the weekends are always busy or just that particular Saturday, but an appointment is recommended. I didn't think to call ahead since my other places were all walk-ins, but I got there around 3 and was told Jabeen could see me at 5:30. Good thing I only live about a mile away. I came back and not only did she do an amazing job on my eyebrows, but the area above my brow wasn't red afterward like it normally is after a threading (forcing me to go straight home because I can't be seen in public). Huge plus. I had some difficulty finding the place because I didn't realize it was called Buckhead Hair Company. It's the little building with 3 parking spots in the front. There's additional parking in the back if you go down the narrow driveway on the left. The price is 3x more than the one in Decatur, but the service, quality, and location are well worth it! read more

I went to Jabeen today for the first time to get my eyebrows and upper lip threaded. I definitely recommend her. I love supporting local businesses, and I could tell she really knows what she's doing. She did a fantastic job, and her motions are confident (as if she knows exactly what she's doing). Mahjabeen is mah grrrrl. Finally! A place that does threading AND complies with all state and federal health codes. Unlike some places. Yeah - Hair Images - I'm talking to you. I've had serious eyebrow issues since I was old enough to know that a unibrow was not cute. I've tried everything - including doing them myself (BIG mistake) and going to upscale (read overrated) spas like Spa Sydell. I hope no-one takes this the wrong way but white and black women do not understand how to do South Asian eyebrows. [And - now I know - a lot of South Asian women don't either. It's a rare breed. Yes, I take this very seriously. It can make or break my day]. So I continued my search. That's where Hair Images came in. And at first, they really did not suck. But over the past 2-3 years, they have definitely started taking their clients for granted. Not to mention aforementioned health codes. I mean - how have they NOT been shut down? But - all their "aetheticians" were South Asian. So I trusted them. That was a mistake too. Half the time I feel like they are concentrating more on the conversation around them than my eyebrows. And my eyebrows were evidence of that. But I stuck with them...cause I had nowhere else to go. The last time I went, I finally got fed up. So I did not get my eyebrows done for months. After they grew bushy enough for small animals to nest in, I decided I had better do something quick. I've relied on Yelp to tell me where to eat so I decided to use it for this too. And am I glad I did!! Mahjabeen is AWESOME! First - and most important - she understands how to tame my errant eyebrows. But she is also super-professional. She makes and KEEPS appointments. Even after I had to reschedule at the last minute. She personally answers all customer calls. No bored/rude receptionist to mess up your appointment and mood. She said she is OK with texting...I mean come on!! I love her!! So in conclusion - she's good at what she does and she's professional and she's tech savvy. Oh! And she's super nice to boot. I found Jabeen from Yelp. Not from Atlanta, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I got lost on my way there and Jabeen was nice enough to literally wait for me outside the boutique so I could easily find her! A gesture like that doesn't come out unless you're a genuinely caring person! I got my manicure, pedicure and bikini waxing done. She gave me eyebrow threading too for free just because I was getting a lot done and I told her I've never tried brow threading before. I was super happy with my mani, pedi and bikini waxing - she has a GREAT selection of colors that suits all skin types - and waxing was great too - didn't hurt at all and she made it so comfortable and relaxing throughout. I have to say that brow threading was definitely new to me, and the shape was new to me, but I was surprised how cleaned up my browed looked and how edgy they were. I wouldn't get them done though, just because I like plucking better these days, but if you're into threading I'd definitely recommend her. I have been having my eyebrows threaded since June 2012 by Mahjabeen (Jabeen). Her rates are higher than some other salons, but I go to her because I know that I will be seen by her at the appointment time scheduled. Other salons will overbook and take walk ins, which is fine, but in some cases, you could have a long wait. The other problem for me was an appointment with someone I was familiar with was not guaranteed. Growing out eyebrows takes a long time! She is very skilled and talented, so I never have to worry my eyebrows will not look good. I like to keep them thicker, which she does. I like her current location, it is very nice and spacious. It is located by Kroger with a lot of parking. The only downside is the Buckhead traffic. She is very friendly and it is always nice to see her. I would recommend her to others. read more

It's so easy to make appointments. All you have to do is text Jabeen and she is very quick about responding. Once you arrive, there is no wait time and she quickly gets you in and out. While you are there she is completely focused on you. The polish seems to last a lot longer from her manicure/pedicures compared to those I have received elsewhere.
