We ate at My Ma Dim Sum on Saturday night. The only negative thing I have to say is that they're only open till 7 PM. We were a little worried we wouldn't make it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we arrived, the seating area is full, but we were still greeted warmly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered our meal to go but we were still offered a place to sit in glasses of water while we waited. We both ordered pho. I got the combination pho with everything and my wife ordered the beef pho. She also ordered some pork bao buns, and I ordered soup dumplings. They packaged the pho very well, with the broth, vegetables and meat, and one container and the noodles, some of the extra meat, lines, cilantro, basil, etc. In another container, the servings were huge. We had plenty for another meal the next day. The pho broth was excellent. We did have to heat it up again when we added the noodles and extras, but it was well worth it. The soup dumplings were flavorful and warm and the bao buns had a mild but rich pork filling. This was a real treat while we were on the road. read more

I'm giving them a 4-star because one of us would have given 3.5 stars but the other would give 5 stars. Here's how we stacked up: The food is tasty. It is. One of us would have said slightly better than average casual Chinese food. The other one of us thinks this is some of the best Chinese food in a long time. The service was good. Everyone was friendly and helpful. No disagreements there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere - one of us found it at the lower end of casual Asian dining. The other one of us just didn't care.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The value. One of us found it very overpriced. The other one didn't care and pointed to how expensive every restaurant is now, while the first one of us wanted to point out that this is priced for a much nicer dining experience (eg, atmosphere, presentation, and even the fairly tasty meal just don't support the pricing). Portions, at least on entrees (we didn't try the appetizers), are pretty good, so that helps. Also, one of us would point out that it's often described as "dim sum," but a handful of pricey appetizers is not what is expected as a "dim sum" experience. By this logic, every restaurant (or at least every Chinese restaurant) could market itself as "dim sum" if it has appetizers, which they all do. That isn't what I expect of dim sum. So, there you have it - we're split. We will return to try the appetizers (aka "dim sum"), but it won't be cheap. It seems very popular and I wish them success, with a few improvements. read more

Got the iced coffee and pork belly banh mi. Coffee was good, pretty large serving size so worth it, in terms of price. Not too sweet, but definitely sweet enough to cut the bitter taste of the coffee. The coffee itself wasn't too bitter or sour tasting. I'd get that again. The banh mi, the pork belly option is double the price of any other protein. I'm not sure if that works out in the worth it department for me, but the meat proportion in the sandwich is worth it. The veggies seemed pretty fresh, crisp, but no jalapeño in the sandwich. Not sure if that's a regular thing, but I've eaten enough banh mi with jalapeños, so I consider that a necessary ingredient. The bread was toasted pretty heavily, perhaps cooked in the grease of the pork belly? Not sure. I wasn't a huge fan of that, the bread itself was difficult to tell if it was light and springy with a flaky crust, because it was toasted so hard. Either way, the sandwich was eaten, the coffee was gulped down. I'd probably try other things here. First time here in Yakima on a business work trip. The evening was cool so I was craving for a hot bowl of soup and came across this place. I thought at first that they are more of a Dimsum place but there really more like Asian fusion and was surprised to see they serve pho. When I looked at the menu, the oxtail pho caught my attention coz I'm a sucker for oxtail ( as a Filipino, we have an oxtail dish called kare-kare that I absolutely love). What a surprise!! The oxtail pho is probably one of the best oxtail pho I've had and this is me coming from Southern CA and have tried great pho in Westminster. It was homey and just plain DELISH!! I am not kidding but you just have to come here to try for yourself. I also ordered the roasted pork belly and it was out of bounds. It was tender, well seasoned with salt and five spice and the skin was crispy. Plus dipping it on that sweet sauce was a great touch. Got pork belly with rice and broccoli. Rice was mushy. Broccoli was just the stems and leaves. Stems weren't peeled and hard. Leaves?? Never tried it before and now I know why, couldn't even bite them. Waste of $33. Pork belly had no taste to it. read more

Went around almost 1pm today 12/20/25 and the establishment was closed. Nowhere didn't they indicate that it would be closed. Not even a sign or anything posted on the door. The hours online said open. Definitely feel that as a business owner. You should let the public know if something comes up that you won't be able to open up the shop. read more

The best Pho in town. All the food is very good. The dim sum is good. Plenty of food. Dim sum is made for two. The Pho bowls are big. The broth is very delicious. I tried My Ma Dim Sum today for the first time with a few friends, they HIGHLY recommended the Pho, but I just had to try the Wonton & Noodle Soup. It was absolutely incredible! When I first ordered, the woman was incredibly kind, and offered to let me try a taste sample of the broth to make sure it was to my liking. Once I confirmed and our order was in, it was maybe 5 minutes before our food was served. The portions were massive and definitely worth the price. Everything tasted phenomenal, my 9yr old daughter loved her potstickers and my friends really enjoyed their pho. My my my, while many Vietnamese restaurants have come and gone unsuccessfully in the valley, the Ma has been stewing pho here locally for 10 years. The owners personally cook the menu, not hired hands. The bowls are huge, fresh vegetables & tofu. The price is cheaper than other local spots. Nice smooth cinnamon broth, not just saltwater. I've eaten here a few times now. The shrimp dumplings look and taste like the frozen ones Costco sells which is disappointing. The fresh spring rolls are three cut in half, they are very plain, noodle, cilantro and romaine, one shrimp cut in half per whole roll. They had what I think is thin sliced pork but I didn't eat it, because it looked weird and was very dry I do not recommend those. I've had the pho twice and was pretty good. The prices are pretty high but with good portions that can be shared. For two of us we got an entree each, an app, Thai tea and a soda, the bill was $71 I would not buy again for a bill that high. My wife and I are from TriCities and we were in Yakima for business and so we looked on Yelp and found My Ma Dim Sum! We started of with the Crab Wontons and they were the best I've ever had. We also tried the Pork Buns and the Pork Dumpling. Later we tried Beef Pho and some Shrimp Chow Mein or Lo Mein, not sure which. The Pho was excellent, I did not care for the noodles in the Lo Mein/Chow Mein but the flavor was good and the shrimp were good, I just like my noodles more fried and with some vegetable whereas these were just noodles with some cabbage leaf. Biting into the pork bun reminded me of a dim sum place my mom use to take me when I was a younger girl to celebrate something good happening. The bun was soft, the pork was so good, and it was really special to me! The broccoli was a very good side and prepared my favorite way to eat vegetables- steamed with good savory flavor from oyster sauce. I was craving duck and decided to give this place a try after giving its reviews a cursory scan. I ordered a few different types of dim sum to try: Peking duck, duck tacos, shrimp dumplings (xia jiao), pork dumplings (shao mao), BBQ pork buns, Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce, and egg tarts. Everything was good and the price was also very reasonable. My favorite was the Peking duck: they don't use the traditional Bao you'd expect, instead they use thin soft taco shells. The Peking duck and the duck tacos look similar, but they have different flavors. The tacos are more salty and the spices overpower the flavor of the duck. I personally prefer the Peking duck. Overall, I would come back next time I'm in town. read more

Great family owned restaurant! The former owners of Pho King Crab have moved to My Ma Dim Sum. Food is excellent, especially the roast duck options. Definitely recommend the duck tacos. Both shrimp and pork dumplings are very tasty with nice contrasting mouth feel. The skin of the shrimp dumplings are on the thick side, but if you like mochi consistency you won't mind. Went based on great Yelp reviews. They were out of several menu items. No peppers, no shrimp rice noodle rolls, no eggplant and no Chinese broccoli. Had spring rolls with peanut sauce. Heavy on old cilantro and had some pale slices of mysterious pork-like meat which was not fresh. Shrimp and pork dumplings had no shrimp, the "pork" was not fresh and there was an overall unpleasant flavor. In addition, they were steamed on the bottom, but tops were dry and crispy. I couldn't even eat a half of one and my friend made through only one. We are not fussy, but this was not a good meal for us. read more

This is my 2nd time here! I craved dimsum my first time in Yakima last year...and found My Ma Dim Sum. I ordered some of my fave dishes of dimsum and they were kind enough to switch out Chinese broccoli for bok choy at my request. I REALLY wanted to like the food because it looked good, it smelled good, the lady at the counter was SO nice....but in reality, I went hungry that night at the hotel. I could not eat most of it I'm originally from Hong Kong, and lived in Seattle all my life, so it's safe to say I know good dimsum. I did not post a negative review like I normally would because the lady was so sweet and kind! I finally decided to give them another go since I'm in the area again and went for Pho instead. WOW! Pretty amazing! Almost as good as Seattle Pho! Super hot delicious broth, good amount of brisket (they also catered to me for just getting brisket instead of the mix with steak and tendon), LOTS of noodles, and just the right amount of hoisin sauce and Sriracha. Also ordered the Peking duck. Not traditional Peking duck, and a little expensive for 3 pieces, but it was fun and pretty tasty. So glad I decided to try them again.
