I'm surprised about the positive reviews minado received. People who have never had the experience of good Chinese food, just don't know better. Lots of poorly prepared items to choose from. This place fell off. They took some of the items that were customer favorites including my all time favorite the spicy clams. They added fried chicken and a few new items but they were poorly prepared and cold. They added a seafood boil option but it was overcooked and unseasoned with little bits of crab legs. Another thing to mention is that they make you serve your own drinks and utensils and still expect a tip. Unbelievable. This place fell off pretty bad. Wife & I had dinner at Minado Buffet this evening. A huge selection of foods including Mongolian grill, sushi, fruits, and desserts was available. The hot & sour soup, one of my favorites was both HOT and SOUR. Other soups available were a Thai soup (seafood), egg drop, and miso. Among several shrimp dishes on the buffet was a very tasty coconut shrimp...also scallops, mussels, clams, crispy chicken wings, sweet & sour chicken, chicken skewers, Japanese chicken, sauteed mushrooms in an Asian sauce, Mongolian beef, beef & broccoli, a Cajun seafood dish with crawfish & crqb legs, stir fried green beans...along with the usual fried rice, steamed rice, yakisoba style noodles, rice noodles, and gyoza (pot stickers). I've probably forgotten a few... Everything was hot, fresh, and very good. We will definitely go back again. $21 per adult. read more

We visited for lunch today. $17.99 each. The restraunt was very clean and the staff were friendly. Unfortunately they seem to be skimping on the seafood. Empty trays with drying sauce were the only sign of shrimp. We were there for approximately an hour and no other seafood was presented. (There was a pan of small clams when we arrived. They were room temperature. A health inspector should probably give this place a visit.) We gave Minado a try specifically for their seafood reputation. Perhaps things were better in the past, but the food here was often room temperature and they have apparently moved away from seafood. Perhaps the dinner menu has a better selection. I will never know because I will not be back. We will stick with the other buffets in town. At least they keep the trays full, and not just the cheaper items. The polite staff gained them a star, not the food. One exception: The garlic mushrooms with jalapeños were fresh and one of the tastiest things I have eaten in quite some time. Recently dine at Minado Buffet in Yakima, and it was an exceptional experience! The moment I walked in, I was surprised by the big buffet area and dinning space. The variety of food available was nothing short of amazing. From the freshest sushi to a delightful array of hot dishes such as having different options of seafood, variety of soups, create your own noodle bar, dim sum, different type of hot cooked noodles, fried rice, lots of protein options, fruit, and lots of dessert including a chocolate fountain. I was honestly surprise to see such a great buffet in Yakima. We went during Memorial Day weekend, so was dinner prices all day of $19.99 per adult which I thought was a great deal for all the food options we got. minado is a very average chinese buffet with a lot of options for hot food, cold food, soups, and desserts. as soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly server who showed us to our table. they immediately brought out water for us, and gave us teapots for hot tea as well. we were in a party of 13-14 and they wasted no time in getting our table ready. the restaurant was clean and servers were friendly and helpful. our waiter came to check in on us every 15-20 minutes which was cute. i also noticed that they were very quick to sanitize and clean tables once other guests left. from the sushi options, i heard from a family member that minado used to have a lot more variety. this time that we went, all the sushi options seemed like different variations of imitation crab, cucumber, and avocado. i didn't really see any other kinds of raw fish which was a bit of a let down. it seemed like they released more options as we were eating though, as there were also some cute hand rolls they brought out near the end of our meal. the noodles here are actually really good... like i usually don't get carbs at these kinds of buffets (gotta get my money worth!!!) but i went back for seconds LOL better than panda express noodles! there was a good variety of other hot foods like shrimp, clams, vegetables, and more. read more

This buffet is a good deal. You get to try a lot of different things and eat as much as you want. I tried several sushi rolls here that were surprisingly good. I say surprisingly good, because I repeatedly keep trying sushi, but I'm not really a fan of sushi.they had some that seemed like they were maybe battered and deep fried or something. My only complaint about those was that nothing was labeled, so I have no idea what I ate. read more

Our family loves this place when Covid hit and people vandalized it we were worried but they eventually opened up great service huge selection and the staff have all been nice. Plenty of space throughout and it seems they will keep kids in same areas which makes it nice when you go without little ones read more

5pm dinner I had thought would be a good time for fresh hot food. I was disappointed. Much of the items I sampled were either Luke warm or actually cold. The exception being the fried foods The shrimp /crawfish boil had obviously sat out awhile. Meat was mushy the corn was totally wilted I was afraid to try the sushi rolls. The whole time I was here I never noticed anything added and what was there looked disappointing and on a side note much of it seemed to be the same. Not much variety. I went here for lunch on my way through Yakima for work. It's probably the only asian buffet around so I decided to try it out. The selection is ok with typical hot asian food like fried rice, chicken, fish, dim sum and soups. There's also the typical American section for like fries, mashed potatoes and sausage etc. There isn't higher end items for example prime rib, duck, salmon and ribs. That's to be expected for a 11.99 lunch buffet though. There's also sushi. The sushi when I went (weekday lunch) was ok quality (1 step above grocery store), but pretty lacking in selection at least compared to other places I've been. It was mostly california rolls and mackeral. Barely even salmon. If you're in the area it's fine. Expect similar quality to places on the west side of the pass at the same price, but a smaller selection. read more

A nice, clean affordable Asian Buffet joint. 3 1/2 stars is probably about right, but 4 would be too high so I went with 3. On the positive side, you've got a nice clean environment and friendly attentive staff. The price Point is fair too, especially at lunch prices. The sushi is decent and the Mongolian Grill is solid too. There is a nice desert bar for the kids as well, with the chocolate fountain being a highlight for them. On the other hand, most of the other dishes under warmers are just ok, not great, but not bad either. It's so great to have a decent Asian buffet back in the Valley. Since Royal Buffet closed and World Bistro is a complete disaster, Minado Buffet is marvelous, and so worth the money! At least, it's worth going for lunch. So far, I've gone for lunch here twice. The first time was with my mom, and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff are so friendly, especially the main host. He's hilarious, and so sweet. The workers are on the ball, making sure to come by and take away our dirty dishes, and always asking if we need a drink refill. The customer service alone earns five stars. The second time I came here was with both my parents for lunch, and we were greeted with the same friendliness and flamboyance of the host. Never disappointing. I've decided to give Minado Buffet four stars instead of five, mostly because some of the food is quite disappointing. I realize that this is a buffet, and not a fancy Chinese restaurant, but some of the food has been better at other buffets. First of all, the General Tso's Chicken. I was highly disappointed when I tried it. The flavor is merely okay, and it's missing the spice that we all love. It's more on the bland side. Second, the Miso Soup. It's so weak, that my mom and I gagged and pushed our bowls aside. We're Japanese, and have much experience with miso soup, and this was appalling. Third, their Orange Chicken. I'm sorry to say this, but Panda Express has better orange chicken. It was rather on the bland side, and quite boring. Lastly, the broccoli in the chicken or beef broccoli entree. The broccoli was so wilted, that some of the florets were black in some spots. Some of the broccoli was okay, because sometimes I like it on the softer side, but most of it was seriously wilted. Very unappetizing. These are only a few setbacks, as every restaurant, especially a buffet, has every once in a while. They're not bad enough to keep me from coming back, as my parents and I are already planning another trip for lunch. There are several things I can suggest that are wonderful here. The sushi is awesome, and there's such an array of it! The Lo Mein is very good, the Hot and Sour Soup is excellent, and the steamed bao and other dumplings are lovely. I could go on and on, but then this post would unnecessarily long, as it is already. All in all, Minado Buffet is totally worth coming to. Maybe not for dinner, as $17.99 is quite expensive for a buffet, but $11.99 for lunch isn't bad. If you want nothing but authentic Chinese cuisine, this isn't the place for you. But, if you have the ability to understand that an Asian buffet isn't the same as authentic and can look past the "buffet quality", then I highly recommend this place! read more

Zero stars! Without words worst food on planet earth! Had literally 2 bites of food instantly felt sick. Was in restaurant approximately 5 minutes spoke with management about our concerns, all the manager could say is you owe me $30.56 for your food of which I stated again it tasted old , cold not even qualified to be put in a bag and called dog food! After I picked up my chin being dumbfounded that I was forced to pay for 2 bites. The manager then proceeded to call 911 to state she was having an argument with a customer! From what I know 911 is reserved for actual emergencies not poor food and customer service! Be aware of businesses trying to make it in this economy and PLEASE support those who actually care and provide proper food handling procedures and customer service this restaurant is NOT one! The restaurant was cluttered and bathrooms dirty.
