We were driving through and wanted to stop at a place that was known for their (affordable) steak. We originally planned to go to Texas RoadHouse but they were closed, so we found ourselves at Outback. We arrived at 12pm, which was right when they opened. We were greeted and sat right away by our waiter He was very friendly and informative. He provided us with great service and made an effort to chat with our kids. He was great! We ordered the Sirloin steak with loaded mashed potatoes and creamed corn, a full rack of ribs with Mac and cheese and brocolli, a kids grilled cheese and fries, a kids steak and fries, a outback trio appetizer (mozz sticks, fried onions, cheese fries) and a single 5oz steak. The ribs and Sirloin steak were absolutely delicious, my husband liked his corn and potatoes but the mac and cheese was severely lacking, the mozzarella sticks were weird and the fries were just okay. Veterans Day 2025, we got the outback in Union Gap 10 minutes prior to them opening. We were probably 10th in line. We decided to sit at the bar, took us 45 min to order a beer and the blooming onion and which came out burnt. By 2pm we decided to leave very dissatisfied and disappointed. If you're gonna offer a veterans Day special, don't have two servers running the bar and the restaurant by themselves. (shame on you for putting the servers through that,) and then to have at least five veterans get up and walk out while we were there, including us for getting no service. I have to kudos to the two servers who were working their butt offf and dealing with angry customers at the same time. Outback management do better. Does Outback feel like it needs a brand update. The food is the same as it was 25-years ago. It's consistent,comforting and dated. Outback is the more expensive alternative to the Old Country Buffet. 25-years ago you went to the Outback for the drinks and appetizers. They haven't changed. The bloomin onion, wings and drinks are the same the ok not difference is the wait staff have less "flair" on the uniforms. The meal followed the usual course, drinks, bread, salads, entree and the bill. Comforting and consistent for two parents with two kids. Outback needs a makeover. The food, and service is consistent but no longer feels different from a Applebee's, Ruby Tuesday or Chilli's. read more

We had received a gift card for Outback and wanted to use it up before it got lost in my purse. We stopped by around dinner time, and it was not too busy. We were seated quickly and given drinks and fresh bread right away. I ordered a bacon cheese burger and added a salad. My husband ordered the ribs that were on a special menu. The burger was great, it was thick and dense with flavor, lots of bacon and fresh veggies. The ribs were also a hit. Husband described them as juicy and meaty with a tasty BBQ sauce and he liked the housemade pickles it came with. Worst meal I have had. I ordered the score three special which is a special plate due to March madness. Left most of it on the plate. Really? How can you mess up a Bloom n onion. Wasn't anything like the advertised special. Service was friendly but not worth a 20 dollar meal. Table was sticky when I sat down. Whatever it was stuck to my arm so my arm stuck to the table for the rest of my visit. Took more then 45 minutes for the food to arrive at the table and by the time it arrived my soda was empty. Absolutely the worst experience I have had dining out. Waiter was very poorly trained. We had to ask twice for everything. Out of what I ordered at 5:30 pm. Never filled our water glasses the whole time we were there, never took away our dirty dishes. When we got our bill we had been charged an "up charge" for the vegetable I got because it was considered premium. Never was that mentioned by our waiter at the time of ordering. Ok so here goes... The food was not great. The "décadent" lobster was a pretty mushy without a lot of flavor, and the steak was over seasoned and not just salt and pepper like it should. And the Bloomin onion was also way over seasoned as well as being greasy as hell. And the portions were pretty small. But hey, I didn't expect a lot for the "price" and I thought I'd take a chance. (Obviously that's not going to happen again.) I can't remember the last time I've been to this chain, so unfamiliar. But hey, it's Yakima, (well Union Gap) so not a lot of decent restaurants to chose from. We thought the menu was a little odd. The sides were listed on another menu. And when our waitress showed us where they were listed, she said we can pick from under the sides thing. I picked the loaded mashed potatoes and later learned it cost more. Yes, it said premium but It didn't indicate it was more money. Ok, it wasn't much at all, so no big deal. We ordered the steak and lobster "special" that was advertised starting at 15.99. So we told our waitress (who was nice and came by often to check in on us) that we wanted the "special". Then when we got the bill it cost $18.99! Yes, the menu showed that price, but again we asked for the "special". And we thought by ordering the special we would get the "advertised" price and could had extras to it making it more. Thus the starting price. Our waitress told us afterwards that the special came with only one side. So why didn't our waitress tell us that??? Ya know, we just went there to enjoy a nice dinner out, not to have to go all over their hidden charges. We left definitely feeling like it was a bait and switch. Well, we learned our lesson. We had expectations--not even high ones. Reasonable expectations if you will. I mean, we expected quality and we got less than that. In fact, it was disappointing. I understand that they were busy, but that doesn't mean that your food should take an hour to get to you. The sirloin and prime rib had good flavor, and the fried mushrooms were good. I loved the bread, too. We also got the quesadillas. They were fairly good. The service was slow, but the staff was friendly. I would like to give a shoutout to Kelsey M, who was our server. Kind of pathetic when a restaurant that is known for certain things fails to deliver on even the most basic. Outback is known for offering bread almost before you are even seated. The man behind the bar here either doesn't care about standards or doesn't know what the hell he is supposed to do. Bloom petals have been discontinued and when you are by yourself no one I know wants a full blooming onion. Don't know if these problems are just at this run down location or what and doubtful anyone in management will ever read this. Update on this review. It is only this one location that has discontinued the bloom petals, although I think it more likely that the staff are just too lazy to care.
