It's taken me awhile to write this review. While the crew was nice and did a great job, MAKE SURE YOU SEE THE "not to exceed" clause BEFORE the job begins. Also, make sure they do not charge you for "yard to yard" mileage as they did to me. There is a "double drive time" law which states they can only charge from current place to new location, times two. I was charged for their drive, from Morgan Hill to Union City, and back to Morgan Hill. I was charged over $2500 and 9.5 hours, approx an hour plus, of driving they were not supposed to charge for. The "not to exceed" agreement was presented to me at the end of the move which they filled in as not to exceed $3200. I was charged for gas. I was charged $60 for shrink wrap. 2 of the 4 guys used my bathroom at the old place and the new place, #2 both times. Sorta uncomfortable!! On one hand you gotta go you gotta go, but really? at the NEW house? I moved 2 months later, and paid under $900 before tip, received all paperwork BEFOREHAND, DO YOUR HOMEWORK with these guys if you decide to proceed with them. Bad business, dishonest and reckless. Rick was hired to move furniture for my client who recently had a stroke. He sent his crew to the property and they left windows wide open when they left. They did not secure the property properly. It rained over the weekend and water came through and sat on the windowsill and wooden floor for a couple of days. There were three pieces of furniture that Rick promised, and was paid, to remove from the property and take to Goodwill. Instead, the furniture was dumped at the condo complexes dumpster. The items had glass shelves, and were pushed over and the glass broke everywhere. This posed a hazard to other people in the community not to mention it was illegal to dump these items on the side of the dumpster. I called Rick immediately and gave him an opportunity to remedy the situation. He promised that he would and I returned the next day and one of the pieces was still left behind. There's a sign posted right next to the dumpster that states "no furniture". I reached out to Rick again and no response. This was an AWFUL experience and I won't use them or recommend them again. BE AWARE! Aside from stealing valuables and being dishonest, this company quoted us 3900 but charged over 5500 (more than a thousand-dollar difference)! This move was about an 8-hour day, and we were originally quoted 10-12 hrs. My wife and I hired Rick and his team to move us in January 2025. Not only did they leave several items in our backyard, one or more of the members of the team stole valuable graded trading cards worth thousands of dollars. After reaching out to Rick about the stolen cards, I felt mocked and disregarded. No one owned up to taking them. I ended up filing a police report & with the BBB, but reached a dead end and feel like I'm at a total loss. It's now been months and the cards are still not in my possession. read more

They were quick, efficient, careful, courteous and I'm running out of adjectives ..... so I'll just say that they did a GREAT job. to give you an example of great customer service... they were scheduled to arrive at 7:00AM this morning. at 7:02am i received a text from Nikko to let me know that they would be a few minutes late due to traffic. most other companies would just show up 15+ minutes late without saying something. Nikko's team took the time to keep me updated, even though they arrived just four minutes late (at 7:06am). DO NOT HIRE THIS CLOWN! Rick Lopez showed up with 1 other man instead of the 3 man crew he was charging us for. Than after whining and moaning like a baby, he says he does not want to do the job because it is too much work and he has another job the same day. He said he had to get another truck and then he never came back! What A NIGHTMARE. Total disregard for his customer. I cannot believe this guy is in business after what he did to us. I ended doing the entire job myself! And I am 60 years old. Save yourself a nightmare and DO NOT HIRE THIS CLOWN. WE even worked with HIS SCHEDULE, and did the job a day after we needed it done. All furniture was itemized ahead of time and price was agreed in writing. I will be taking him and his company to small claims court soon. I owned a moving company from 2002 to 2015. The movers were great and friendly, but Rick ripped me off. He charged $740 for 2 hours of work. He took the liberty of tacking on an hour for transit time. We moved some of our heavier items from Mountain View to Cupertino. He told me $220 an hour at the start and did not provide a not to exceed quote until after the job was done. Adding one hour for driving was not appropriate. I understand moves are site to site and California has double drive time, but at most another 15 minutes could have been tacked on. The job could also have easily been done with two helpers as I requested, but he insisted on four. In hindsight, I see why: so he could extract even more money for the same work. read more

From full house moves to just moving a few very heavy items out of our house to a garage, they have always been professional, attentive, and good communicators. I have always felt they charge reasonable rates for the work done. My father and step mother even used them for their move out of San Jose to North of Sacramento. I reached out and asked what the rate would be - he told me $50/hr for each man ($200/hr for 4 guys is what he emailed me. However when I came to pay the bill there was an added $200 for driving/truck/ shrink wrap charges that he didn't tell me about when I asked for the cost. Similar to some earlier reviews - they did the job efficiently - the crew was nice but he needs to be upfront about the costs. I don't appreciate a different cost at the end of the job. Moving is such a huge endeavor, especially out of town, and I have nothing but good feeling for how I was supported. My Dad's Moving came highly recommended and they did an awesome job. I spoke with Rick over the phone and he was able to give me a quote and the date was booked online. The team showed up on time the morning of the move, and they did a great job of quickly moving all of our packed boxes, disassembling our bed, very carefully wrapping our TV, and did all of this without any damage to the apartment. Unfortunately our elevator by our unit was broken and the team had to do a longer walk, but they were all incredibly efficient. On the unload, the team was very communicative and made sure unlabeled items were placed where I wanted. All our boxes and items made it undamaged, and the team had everything unloaded right before lunch time. The team was highly professional and efficient, and the final bill was within the quoted range (right at the low end too!). While I hope to not have to move again soon, I would not hesitate to reach out to My Dad's Moving in the future. read more

They did a movie from Brentwood California , to San Jose Also pick from a storage unity They nice and dishonest , They stole a power washer , and a snoopy telephone that was a collectors item . I was also missing 220 volt 6/3 cabling to my work shop . They didn't want to be honest , but rather act clueless . Because they did nothing to credit the bill or bring back was stolen it was a total loss . I put this review down for people as my family will never use them again . Because items were never brought back to us and it was total loss I have to leave a 1 star rating It's been about 9 since using them . But I leave this up for people to review . I had a great experience with My Dad's Moving. Good people, honest, no hassle, and no haggling. I was moving from San Jose, CA to Los Angeles, CA. Submitted information online and received multiple quotes and phone calls. Quotes were either too high, suspiciously low, or requires consolidation without a definitive delivery date or time. Also, all the quotes had open ended charges the leaves room for charging much more that the quote. I was moving out of an apartments building and going to another. Both places required tight time schedule to reserve the loading docs and elevators for the move. No one was able to accommodate that for a reasonable price. I almost gave up and decided to get a uhaul and do the move myself. Keep in mind, I also had 2 motorcycles I wanted to move as well. That made my move even more difficult. I stumbled across a friend who recommended My Dad's moving company. I called, left a message, and in no time Rick called me back. Immediately scheduled time to do a walk through and quoted me a reasonable price. The day of the move everything went very smooth, Rick, Nikko and Eric arrived on time and loaded everything in record time. These guys are like getting help from you buddies that you've known for years. What a pleasure getting to know them. Delivery was scheduled the next day in LA. Nikko asked if they can make it there at 8am. I had some issues with UPS overnight my cashier's check, I had to issue a new one. Also, the office personal didn't start working until 10:30am. We couldn't start the move until 11am. Nikko and Eric stayed cool the whole time I was dealing with these issues. Never complained about getting delayed. Once we started, everything went very smooth again. Nikko too charge and let me do my thing while him and Eric took care of everything. I would hire My Dad's Moving again and again! Excellent communication, punctual, hard working and so efficient! One phone call and everything was taken care of for my Mom's move from Morgan Hill to Gilroy. They easily disassembled several difficult furniture pieces and put them back together at the new house. Great service!! They arrived early and were very professional and very helpful. Moving can be such a stressful time, and these gentlemen made our lives so much easier. These three strong, young men did all the heavy lifting, literally. And got us all set up in our new place. Terrible management owner said he would send out a couple of guys for $180 an hour. He didn't say that there was a two hour minimum the job took 20 minutes and they charged us $360. A+++++!!! MDM did a wonderful job moving me and my fiance to a new house. Rick was very responsible and friendly, and they moved us in a record time with very reasonable price. Our move required three stops, (1) my place, then (2) pick some furniture up at storage, then (3) unload everything in our house. All this was done within 2 hours and half which was right on the target of Rick's estimate. They were very careful with our stuff no matter how old, new or heavy they were. MDM is a very personal company. They might not give you a PDF format paper work for the estimate or print out receipt, but what I care about is an honest, hard working, friendly mover who I can trust to show up on time and be on the target of the estimate. Rick missed telling me how much per hour charges were, but I learned from other yelper's review and now looking at my receipt, here is the breakdown. He charges $50/hour/person. So if he estimates 3 person for 2 hours, then it is going to be $150/hour x 2 = $300 estimate. My job was 2.5 hours with 2 people ($100/hour), plus driving hour (from MDM to my place and drive back from my place to MDM) was 30 minutes for total of 3 hours. I'd recommend and use MDM again for sure. read more

I have to send out my praise of this company. I'm often skeptical of Yelp reviews; they are easy to manipulate with false glowing reviews. Conversely, a grump malcontent can give a poor review over a trivial matter. This weekend was my second move in 18 months by this company. They are EXCELLENT. I wouldn't consider anyone else. Driver's are completely ignorant and don't follow road signals. A bald guy with a beannie which was the driver and a young kid with long hair were driving on Sharon and Plumb 40MPH on a school zone. The driver failed to go 15MPH on a school zone on a school day! Driver tried to intimidate me by getting the truck close to my vehicle and then honked his horn for going 15MPH on a school zone! I notified Nevada Highway Patrol and took pictures of the vehicle and license plate. read more

I have to say I was more than impressed. Having never used movers and having heard many horror stories, I was on guard when the guys showed up on the day of our move. The guys were awesome.... super nice/personable, super hard workers and man did they move fast. I was very impressed in how they worked together, navigated stairwells with large furniture and didn't damage a thing. I just love this company. I have called them several times over the years to move furniture. I would usually get Rick and a few guys. Well, this time I got the next generation, and I am so impressed. I needed to move my furniture upstairs and move other heavy items out of the garage. These guys are so hard working, and proactive. One of the guys says, do you want me to arrange your garage? They are on an hourly wage and they never stop and wait for you to tell them what to do. They are just nice, delightful young men working hard. Wow, I haven't received such rude customer service in a long time. I'm looking to move soon a short distance to a new place. I have little to move but there are certainly pieces, like the bed, I just can't move myself, so I logged into Yelp to see who is recommended in the area. Shopping around, I called up My Dad's Moving for a quote and talked to Rick. I am quoted $100/hr for 2 men, minimum 2 hours. This is comparable to others I've talked to, though the minimum time is the shortest. He asks me to email him with the details. He's in the middle of a move and can't talk. He emails me back later that day that he charges drive time to my place from his business. I email back asking for a quote with an estimate of total charges and ask if he charges double drive time between the locations (old place to new place), etc. He emails back with a time estimate in the body of the email, but no quote. So far, all communications have been short, one to two sentence emails, very informal. I'm not sure if I have just had out of the ordinary moving experiences, but with the last 4 movers I called and used, they all sent me a PDF or DOC that stated their rates, date and time of when they could do the work, estimated total move time (though not hard coded), etc. Unfortunately, those were all located in Southern California, so I can't use my favorite movers for this. I call up My Dad's Moving the next day to ask that he send a quote because I'm interested in using his company for the move. Rick gets defensive, like I'm accusing him of lying about his rates and the total time estimate. Hunh? I'm asking for something I thought was pretty standard among moving companies. I wasn't accusing him of anything. He's again in the middle of something, talking to a clerk in a store it sounds like, ordering items. When I try to explain to him that I thought he could send a PDF or DOC similar to the ones I've seen before, he says to me that I should go ahead and use those people then. That he's not interested in this move. Click. What the?? I was interested in using his company!! Not in trying to lock him into rates because I thought he was lying!! This company was recommended by our realtor. They moved me from San Jose to Concord. Rick was great but very pricey. The thing I don't appreciate is paying for drive time--they charged me for going home. I spent the most I ever have with these guys and I felt that they were lagging in the middle of the move. Talking and kinda hanging out, etc. They spent 9 hours moving me from a 2 bedroom house so I felt like I overpaid. They are good about taking care of your stuff for the most part and moving heavy pieces to where you want them. The bummer is they dragged around my metal Crate and Barrel ($$$) outdoor furniture on the driveway upside down, so now the paint is missing/chipped from the corners of the chair tops. I asked about being compensated for that but to no avail. read more
