Me and My Husband are new to the McKinney Area. Since we moved here we were having a hard time finding a loving,caring, and dedicated groomer that our boy was comfortable with. I've been taking my Bernese Mountain Dog here regularly for years to be groomed (shaved during summer and bathed all year). The place is very dirty. There is dog hair all over the self serve tubs. The lady at the front desk seemed put out by our presence. They also have a sign on the door for you to wear a mask but this lady was not. I have a 100 lb German Shepard who is 12 and it's hard for us to get her up in the tub. This lady didn't even offer to help us or find someone to help us get her in the tub. The whole place just gave off a dirty and unwelcoming vibe. Would not go back. read more

I recently moved Out to the Mckinney area and needed a new grooming spot for my miniature golden doodle. I used to take him to the vet where I would have to drop him off at early hours and pick up late afternoon. That used to cost me close to $100. I went to Mutt puddle and was thrilled that I could make an appointment and not have to drop off my dog just to sit in the crate all day before grooming. They got him Bathed and groomed within an hour and a half. DAnd my cost was almost half the price before tip. The staff was super friendly and I will for sure be going back! read more

Well, we used to go to the Fairview location quite often. However, over the last few months service has drastically gone down. Grooming quality decreased and the amount of time I had to leave my dog there increased. Just last week I was attempting to make an appointment but nobody would answer the phone. I tried from 9 - 11. We have seen a great decline in service and quality for their operation.over the last 2 1/2 years. Had to take our dog to the vet after last visit. We brought our Mini Goldendoodle there and was happy with Marraya's work. We brought her there today and she came out looking like a rat not a doodle. She shaved her down and she was not matted. When I told them how terrible she looked we were told that it would grow back. After paying $75.00 that is not the answer I wanted to hear. They offered no compensation and not even an apology. They said they were short a groomer so I'm sure Marraya was busy and just felt it would just take less time to just shave our Penny down. Just Terrible. Will not return. I have been using this groomer since they moved to the neighborhood. I have a Shih Tzu that goes about every other month, and she is always a hot mess with matting. She doesn't always come out perfect (she will not hold still), but she always looks great. It wasn't cheap, but I am no dog stylist (I've tried), and she was always happy to go. Usually we are greeted with smiles and familiar faces. I went in today and noticed that it was empty (strange, Saturdays used to be packed), and the usual nice lady was not there. The gentleman that greeted me informed me that all he could do for me was shave my dog down to the skin: entire body, ears, and face. I have never seen a shaved Shih Tzu, and was concerned that this was never an issue before. She was matted and it's 104 degrees...so I thought OK, and asked the cost. I figured it would be different since there was no actual cut, but was told it would be full price. I can shave my dog at home! During this conversation my dog started shaking like crazy. While I wish there was someone to overhear this conversation, I am glad no one else was there. I do not trust this place with my pets, and will not return ever. read more

In the past I have not been a fan of the grooming places due to my dogs were either scared when they were done, have an injury that I found, or the price did not match with the quality of service. I used a mobile grooming for a long time until the owner sold the business and was not the same. I ventured back out to see about brick and mortar groomers again. Prior to MIke owning this establishment I was not very impressed and stop going. I decided to give this place a shot again hearing there was a new owner who was passionate about quality care of grooming pets. I have been rather impressed with the quality of service, the care they take in grooming my pets. They don't seems scared or rattled as before and welcome the staff. The price might seem a bit higher than others, but the quality is what you are getting and care. You need to remember every breed is different and individuals likes are different, so that alone can be tough. They will always do what they can to accommodate last minute which is huge for me. Once you find a groomer you like stick with them and they will also do what they can to get with the same groomer if requested. I can honestly say you wont wrong with Mutt Puddle as long as mike owns the place. I have found that if you ever have an issue he will be on top of it and do what is right for the pet/owner. read more

It can be hard to get an appointment here but they do a great job on my 4 year old Bichon. The price is comparable to what PetSmart charges But you get more for your money. My dog always comes out looking better here than PetSmart. read more

I have taken my dog here twice, mainly because I can always get a last minute appointment (that should have been my first clue). The first time they shaved her mole off, it bled for a few hours. The second time, they cut her leg when shaving it. The grooming service is horrible. The customer service is not good, prices are too high. I will never go back. read more

PSA: DONT take your dog here! We took our golden & when I went to pick her up she was basically non responsive to me( didn't get up when i went to get her, no tail wag) and had a limp. The girl at the desk saw it and went to ask the groomer- told no issues with her grooming. In 12 years i have NEVER seen her act like that! The rest of the day didn't want to walk much at all & just seemed sad. We noticed blood on her nails. Yes, her nails were in need of cutting badly, we knew and admitted that. Someone returned our call today, but not the owner who was also the one that groomed her (even tho she was there) We requested the she call us. She finally did and denied pearls nails even bleeding or having any issues and said maybe they bled after the fact. Ummm...no. We said we understood if they had bled but it needed to be conveyed so that we knew why she didn't want to be walking much- still denied. Pearl seems better today but if you can't even be honest with people about nail trimming, what else are you going to hide? Pearl is like our child, Never again!! read more

I don't know what they did, but when my mom went to pick up my dog she said he was shaking because he was so scared/hurt... Which he has never done before... I took my Shih Tzu puppy there on 2 separate occasions. For his first cut he had the Teddy Bear cut. When I first went in the receptionist Diane was very friendly. She introduced me to the groomer and the groomer was so friendly to my puppy. He liked her immediately and we had no problems. The 2nd visit was a completely different experience. I couldnt personally take him in so my sister took him in for me. I was completely shocked how he came back to me. He was shaved down to the skin ( even his tail) He looked a mess! The places where he wasnt completely shaved he was jagged with uneven pieces all over. They let him leave their establishment with his face HALF CUT!!! Allowing him to leave that way shows the lack of integrity of this place. They also did NOT clip his nails which is part of the basic package. I was furious. I paid over the phone before my sister picked him up w/ a generous tip and they didnt mention any problems to me. When I took him back to have the problems corrected the owner told me that he wouldnt sit still and he was very scared having the clippers on his face. ( It was clear they had nicked him on his face, the half of his face that they did cut) . His ears were matted which I knew but they claimed his entire body was matted. I know for a fact that is untrue because I brush and comb his fur religiously. The whole experience was playing the blame game insinuating I was not taking proper care of him and that he was not a good client. They pointed out to me how the other adult shih tzu's were calm while getting haircuts. He is not an adult he is still a puppy and has to get used to all the loud noises and the new environment. This was only his 2nd cut ever. They then proceeded to let me know how they spent additional time on him which they normally wouldnt do and how I should be appreciative of them going out of their way to do so. They claimed 4 groomers had to detain him just to give him a cut. That is laughable he is less than 10 lbs. If he was such an issue they should have not attempted the cut and let me know the issue when my sister arrived. Instead of blaming me or my dog they should have offered a solution of what we could do moving forward. This situation happened about 2 months ago. I think about it periodically and I am still upset about it so I decided to write this review. I was beyond disrespected and I will NEVER go back here. read more

6/4/2015 - I will never take my poodle back there again. Full charge for a partial clip - that is crazy and the quality was horrid. You can not charge by piece work to groom a poodle. This was the first time I did not tip the groomer. Tobie will never return again!!!!! Mike thank you for that offer but I must decline. The person who took my call knew I wanted a face, feet, tail and tummy along with the bath. I do not appreciate her lying. Also Tobie's nails needed to be trimmed because on his last full cut visit the groomer missed his nails. Again thank you for the offer. read more

Rude. Used to come all the time. Will be finding a new place. Arrived at 5:30 today for a quick nail trim. They close at 6:00. Door was locked and I was rudely informed that everyone leaves at 5:00. We recently took our two pups (Aussie and Golden Retriever) here to do the self-service dog wash. We got there at 4:40pm and were told that we had arrived too late to bathe our dogs. The store closed at 6pm this day. Based off of what the website said and what the door of the store says, we were under the impression that as long as we got there before 5 pm, we would be able to wash our dogs. The lady working there said "all of the dogs have to be out of here by 5". I am not one to write negative reviews frequently but we had worked to schedule this into our day and packed the dogs up and got them all excited, just to drive back home because of the confusing timing situation. If all of the dogs have to be out of the store by 5pm, it would make more sense to me that that would be publicized as your closing time. I don't want to slash all the stars from this place, as the place looked nice and the employee was nice enough, but we were really disappointed that we weren't allowed to stay when the store didn't close for another 1.2 hours. read more

This is my second time to this facility, and I love it. There may be someone a bit cheaper, but the quality is definitely worth it!! I have 2 Yorkie mixes, and one of them does not like the groomer at all. Other facilities have told me I need to DRUG my dog to keep him calm while being groomed. Both of my dogs love this place and when I get back, they aren't even fighting to get out. I love the service they provide and I feel safe leaving any furry baby with them. read more

After having a very positive self-service experience at the sister store in Allen for our senior Cocker Spaniel, I decided to try the McKinney shop since it is located closer to home. The owner, Mike, and new hire, Adam, were both extremely friendly and helpful. They even provided an additional treatment without having to ask or added cost. Although there are only two self-service bays (compared to three or four at the Allen shop), there was no wait on a busy Monday morning. We were one of the first clients of the Mutt Puddle when they opened up several years ago. We always had a terrific experience. It was always a nice friendly atmosphere and experience for our thee dogs. Unfortunately since the new ownership took over a year and a half ago the place has gone down hill. Their prices have gone up dramatically. When you call to set an appointment and get the new cost for the service at checkout it is always a different price. They raise the base price, add services without telling you and they are rude when questioned about the difference in price from the day before when you set the appoinment. This has happened 4+ times to us. We were loyal customers that finally learned our lesson. Check the dates on all of the good reviews......None recently!!!!!! Save your money and aggrevation find another place to groom your pets.... Stay Clear or it will ruin your day!!! read more

VERY PLEASED! We have been utilizing the services of both the McKinney and Allen locations. The Allen location has a dog park right across from it, so if your "furry child" gets into a dirty mess, simply scoop them up and head over to Mutt Puddle! We have FOUR precious dogs and choose the "self wash" vs. the services of the groomers. What could be more convenient?! The tubs are spacious and easy to work. There are lifts for smaller dogs so you're not leaning over and hurting your back. The tubs are always cleaned and disinfected between use. They provide all the supplies you will need and then some - shampoo (regular, hypoallergenic, even the "yellow out" for the white fur dogs), conditioner, brushes, gentle ear cleaner, toothbrush and toothpaste, as many towels as you need, waterproof aprons to protect your clothing. They simply charge per the size of your dog which is the wisest way to go. Unlike some "dog washes", there is NO time limit placed upon you. You can take as long as you need. Periodically, the staff checks with you to see if you need any assistance or replenishment of supplies. The staff was very interactive with our dogs and the owner very engaged with us. I believe they are under new ownership over the last several months and I was very impressed by the new gentleman owner. It is evident that customer service and happiness is his priority and he left an open invitation to contact him anytime for any issues we might have or just general questions. That helpful and positive attitude is rare in today's world! Here's our way of thinking also......... The groomers, staff and the owner cannot read your mind. Isn't it a more proactive, positive and kind approach to let them know exactly what you want, rather than to assume they know and leave not 100% satisfied?! Also, they are indeed open on SUNDAYS till 6PM they said. We highly recommend the Mutt Puddle!! read more

Went there this past Saturday with my two Labradors, was there at 8:30, when arriving the lady opened the door, we started coming in, granted my dog should not have jumped up, but it did and her comment just flabbergasted me "That Damn Dog"! I am still in shock she works there! Thinking maybe she might want to seek another field of work. Dog grooming isn't for her...We left and never will be returning! We have been going to Mutt Puddle in McKinney since it opened and have been very happy with the services and appreciate the kindness of the original owners. However, the situation I experienced yesterday will cause me to not visit Mutt Puddle in the future. I visited the McKinney facility on 1/3 at 5PM to give a self-bath for our two basset hounds. The facility advertises store hours to 6PM. Upon entering the store, I was initially ignored by the personnel and then I asked if the store was open as the entry sign was off and the desk receptionist said "not really". When I stated that the advertised operating hours were to 6PM, the receptionist replied that they were not facilitating customers as "she needed time to process phone calls and cleaning". I am very disappointed at this occurrence and will not return. read more

I needed to get my cocker spaniel groomed, and I had remembered driving by this place a week ago. I walked in to check it out and I had planned on making an appointment for later in the week. To my surprise, they were able to fit her in right away. The women that I spoke with asked me a lot of questions to ensure that my girl got the right cut. I had previously only used PetSmart for grooming, but each time my pups cut was worse and worse. I never received the attention to detail that I did today at Mutt Puddle. I received a phone call an hour and a half later letting me know that she was finished. This really surprised me, as anyone who has used PetSmart knows, the average time that it takes for them to call you for pick up is 4 hours. When I arrived, my puppy looked fantastic. I had forgotten to ask for bows to be put in her ears, but they had done it without me asking. I was extremely impressed with how polite and professional they were.
