The food here is always fresh and delicious. An hidden gem in the Valley. The waiter also have a very good knowledge regarding sake and fish. My favorites is Amber Jack, Black & Red Snapper. If you are not a fan of sushi, their cooked rolls were also delicious. S-4, S-5... They also provide a lot of Japanese appetizers such as Miso Black Cod, fried tofu... Boy, if I had the cash, I'd eat here everyday. My friend raved about this place, but when we pulled up I can admit I was a bit skeptical. The place looked like a small hole in the wall in the valley, while I love those, I wasn't expecting a miracle. I thought it was funny that they actually carded me, cause usually these asian joints don't really care. Second, I thought it was funny that the lady thought i was a woman in my drivers license (it probably doesn't help that my wallet is a pink hello kitty one) The menu is simple, straight forward. Everything was awesome. I love how everything had its own distinct flavor, subtle nuances that I enjoyed. Whereas most sushi restaurants it all starts tasting the same. The fish was buttery and sweet, some more spicy than I anticipated (which I enjoy) and everything was perfection. I wish I had been able to take pics of everything but I didn't wanna be a buttface and annoy everyone I came with. A great meal, a bit pricey if you got a big appetite for fish like I do, but every now and again the budget just gotta take a hit. This is why I can never save any money :( read more

Really really want to like this place but was debating over 2or 3 stars....I liked the food that they have, but the service was abysmal... for both times! I like how their sashimi was thick, the beef teriyaki was tender, their appetizer was delicious. This is my second time here, but only the first time I ate here. The previous time I came here it was so busy that we decided to go elsewhere. My "prospective" client chose the place, so I was not going to argue. We started off with the he'e (tako) carpaccio. It was a very creative dish: Thinly sliced he'e drizzled with olive oil and garnished w/ red peppers. A great way to start the meal - 4 Stars. The next course was the keiki he'e (baby octopus). We received five or more pieces and it came with a nice garnish. The baby octopus was super tender and nicely marinated - 4 Stars. The first sushi we ordered was the toro. Unfortunately, the toro was not that fresh - 2 Stars. Next came the yellowtail belly. This dish: Was a nice sized portion, fresh and tasted pretty good - 3 Stars. The last sushi before the rolls was the amaebi (Sorry I forgot to take a pic!). They have a tank so you can see them prepare the amaebi before your eyes. The shrimp were obviously super fresh, nice sized and the fried heads were delish! - 4 Stars My prospective client likes rolls so I ordered the soft shell crab roll (pictured) and he ordered the shrimp tempura roll (not pictured). Both were OK - 3 Stars. I am not a big roll fan, so please take that into account. I apologize for not taking pictures of everything, But you will see why in a moment. The tab was $133 w/ tip, but w/o alcohol. Normally, I would say that this was an expensive lunch. However, my "New Client" told me at lunch he wanted to open up a big account with me, so this time I say that $133 wasn't $HIT! I got so excited I forgot to take the last few pics. In addition, during the latter part of our meal a couple of ladies walked in and my new client could not stop talking about them. We were in the Valley so you can imagine what he said about them...- LMAO! Although I closed the deal over lunch, I really can't give this joint more than 3 Stars. I love how this place serves fresh fish, awesome rice, and traditional Japanese sushi chefs make your sushi. We decided to sit at the sushi bar and order various items. I tried Halibut with Ponzu sushi, Kumamoto Oysters, Tuna Tataki, Salmon sushi, Sweet Shrimp sushi, Uni, and Salmon Eggs sushi. Awesome quality fish and the rice is the perfect amount. A GF introduced me to this place as she's been coming here since she was a kid. It appears to be a humble place located in a tiny (I mean tiny) plaza where 4 stores share the parking spaces. I tried both the table and bar seating. I'm not a fan of the table menu. So consider sitting at the bar if you're into omakase style of munching. The fish is so fresh. You'll see a lot of locals that come eat the bar. Order from the daily menu provided at the bar. What I liked about this place was mainly the bill. BF and I literally ate a truck-fill of sushi and their special hot dishes and the bill was so affordable. I'm so used to the "superficial" places in west LA that could literally cost you an arm or a leg. It's been months and I still can't believe how affordable it is. I have to say it's a hidden gem. Best sushi in the valley. Period. Always fresh, great service, amazing dishes. I recommend the black cod butter fish. This miso and saki marinated black cod is cooked with a small amount of char to it, served with a slice of lemon to drizzle over it and this fish just melts in your mouth like butter! Make sure you order this fish right away as it can take 20 minutes or so to cook. I also highly recommend the S4 roll. Seriously everything I've tried here I've really enjoyed. If you are in the area this is an absolute must try spot! *Sometimes they have white salmon. I always ask for it as they done often get it in and when they do it is gone very quickly. Great place! We have been a couple of times and it is very consistent with high quality fish and attentive service. They take reservations but we have been able to walk in as well.
