This is a highly overdue review. I came across Mustache Mike's Italian ice when I was volunteering at a health fair at a local high school. I loved this place so much that I took their card and kept it in my records to go looking for it again. I don't remember the exact flavor of what I got, but it was tart and a little sweet just the way I like it. That's saying a lot for me because I normally prefer dairy ice cream over sorbets...but this was one different. Very creamy, non-fat, non-dairy and filled with flavor. I don't know how they do it, but I looked up their website and they offer more than 120 different flavors. Can't wait to try more!!! read more

I found this truck at the Flavorful Fridays Meetup off of Barranca and Armstrong. I was looking for some kind of dessert since the kiddies and I already had lunch elsewhere, and expected to see a cupcake truck. What a pleasant surprise to see Italian Ice! There were a lot of yummy sounding flavors, but I decided on the 50-50 (orange/vanilla) for me and Da Bomb (cherry/blue razz/lemon) for the kiddies. Not only do they have food trucks, but they also have carts, stands, and their Italian ice is also sold in some pizzerias. During my visit, I couldn't decided what flavor to choose from so I chose their most popular flavor, Big Daddy. Big Daddy is made up of cherry, orange, and pineapple swirl. It was SO good! It was so flavorful and you definitely could taste each flavor in the yellow and red swirls. Into my first bite, I was wondering why I had never tried Italian ice before. This is a family business with East Coast roots. They use a century-old secret recipe for their Italian Ice. There are several flavors available, but the "Big Daddy" stood out the most. A beautiful swirl of refreshing cherry, orange, and pineapple. All the flavors stood out, but for me, the pineapple was the star. They were only serving $5 double scoops at the private event I attended. I would have liked another scoop or two of Italian Ice, but I'm probably used to portion sizes of at least a pint these days. After trying some other food trucks I wanted dessert but nothing else seen to get my attention in till I saw Mustache mikes trucks with one of the longest lines in the event but I was curious & went to ask what it was, some people in the line told me how they have had it previously & how they love it! This vendor was at the Riverside Art Walk at La Sierra University this past weekend. They carry many mouth watering flavor combos. We opted for the watermelon, sour apple, and lime flavored italian ice (forgot the actual name)...large cup was $5, which was just the same cup but with an additional scoop or two piled to the top.
