I moved to the DFW from Palisades Park, NJ in 2019 and I've been looking for an authentic korean restaurant that can be my go-to spot to bring my family, friends, and co-workers. I think I found my spot. I came here on a Friday evening with my family and we were greeted with a smile and sat down at a comfortable sized table for 4. I absolutely love how big the menu is. My wife and kids all have different tastes so we usually dont go to restaurants that specialize in 1 or 2 things. This place has pretty much everything you can think of. I ordered the dogani-tang (the ox-knee soup), something you dont find in many korean restaurants. Wifey ordered the spicy galbi-jjim (stew) and we got the fried flounder for the kids. The banchan (side dishes) were really good. Definitely had the feel of home-made and reminded me of my own mom's cooking. I think we were all hungry cause we killed all the side dishes and requested more! The ox-knee soup was fantastic. The key to a good beef bone soup is the broth and this one was delicious. I added a little bit of salt to bring out the flavor more and the tendons and meat were cooked perfectly. The spicy galbi-tang was packed with flavor and not overly spicy either. The galbi meat was also perfectly cooked and the meat just fell off the bones so easily. As for the fried flounder? Well... the kids destroyed it. There was nothing but bones left on the plate when they were done with it. I guess that's all I need to say about that. We will definitely be coming back to try out some of the other menu items. Maybe I'll try to tofu soup or the hot stone bibimbap next. One note, this restaurant is located in the center of a very busy shopping center so parking can be a little hard to find. The place had a foul sewage smell. The food lacked flavor. We tried adding salt but the salt was hard so we used the soy sauce instead. The service was non existent. No one came to check on us and ask for refills. Overall, food was bland and tasted store bought. Great tofu soup combo options & I also love the bibambap, but the best thing on the menu is the seafood pancake. FYI it's HUGE! The only thing that's negative here is the service is not great. This place wasn't great when it first opened, and I'm surprised and sad to say that it hasn't gotten better. I came here for dinner for the first time in years and it's the first time I've thought to myself, "how is this place still open?" Just right off the bat, the server was kind and got the food out to us pretty quickly. But that's where the positives really end for me. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the smell. They've got an industrial fan running and the place smells like raw sewage. It's not enough to "sting the nostrils," but it's enough to catch you off guard. You get used to it after a while, but it's disconcerting at the least. My partner and I decided to stay and eat because we don't remember the food being too bad. Where the disappointment really is, though, is in the food. My partner ordered the soft tofu stew and I had the stone pot bibimbap. I think this is the first time in a while that I heard my partner say that the tofu stew was "different." Not even alright, just different. The bibimbap was generally good and the veggies were fresh, but there was a pretty fibrous stalk in there and there was barely any meat to speak of. And the bibimbap sauce (usually the highlight of the dish for me) was so bland that I left feeling a little disappointed. Just to wrap up, I do think that my expectations were a bit high, so take this review with a grain of salt. But even in this economy and the exorbitant food prices in the Carrollton Korean food scene, I feel like this place was overpriced for the quality of food (around $18 for the bibimbap and $16 for the stew). We especially liked the tofu, bean sprouts and Cucumbers. We ordered the oxtail knee soup, which is like a "tendon". The soup itself is bland, you will have to add salt, which they provide in a small container. After the salt is added, all is good. The tofu soup is good. We opted for medium spice . Flavor was good. I loved my Korean dining experience at Musiro. We were seated immediately and served promptly. We ordered the spicy pork and cold noodle combo, seafood pancake, and tofu soup. Portions are very decent and Korean flavors in the food are bold and present. The tanginess of the cold noodles balanced out the spiciness of the pork. The seafood pancake was nice and crispy with the aroma of fresh seafood. You can always judge a Korean restaurant from its banchan. Our food came with 6 different dishes. Finally got a chance to come back here again after enjoying my first meal about a year ago. I love their tofu stews made with so much flavor. I only wish it came out bubbling hot like the first time so that I can add my egg. I really don't mind waiting for good food! I've had their seafood and also pork kimchi tofu stews. Both were delicious and accompanied with rice and banchan. I ordered seafood pajeon again and while it still tasted delicious, it really would've been better had it been fried crispier. Customer is amazing! The hostess made an effort to seat us away from others for social distancing purposes, which I really appreciated. At the end of the meal, she asked us how we enjoyed it. She really made us feel welcomed. Definitely recommend this awesome place. The tofu stews warm your body and soul and leaves you feeling happy and satisfied. We've come to Musiro a few times, and the food is always delicious! The place itself is always clean as well. My one and only issue is the service. I've experienced being rushed/waved off here a few times. I recently went with my family and when we would try asking for utensils or our drink, she would literally just wave us off and tell us to wait. Mind you we were wanting to wait for all of us to be at the table to just put in the orders all at once to make it easier, but we were also being rushed to start ordering. I want to give the benefit of the doubt and just say it was a busy day, but being a server myself for a good while, this is a HUGE part of dining experiences. This place is quite homely feeling and I loved how the staff knew my sister's family when we walked in. However, they seem to be more comfortable speaking in Korean versus English since that's all they spoke in to my sister. (This is a Korean restaurant, but they can probably speak in English.) The first time I came here I ate their soondubu which is what they're widely know for. I did enjoy the flavoring and their variety of the tofu stews available. We came back a second time and I decided to order the combination platter. I got the protein which you can choose from like pork, kalbi, bulgogi (meat) dish along with cold noodles in a meat broth (neng myun). The meat dish was a bit salty so I advise eating it with some rice and the noodles texture was different from what I am used to. So all in all I would stick to their tofu stews. I noticed throughout the meal they would come by and ask what we would like refilled from the side dishes such as kimchee and pickeled radishes (banchan) and gave us an extra rice bowl and fried mackerel. Good amount of meat and vegetables and noodles, and just the right flavor/spice. It wasn't anything particularly special or out of the ordinary, but it was a delicious meal for the price. I have been going to this location even before the change of the name decade ago. I know ownership changed at one point, but Musiro still has to be my favorite SoonDuBu place here in DFW or even in TX. If you do not know me, I like my food strong in flavor whether its a tea or pastries or meal like SoonDuBu. I will be upfront about flavors not always being consistent especially when I drop an egg, the brother becomes weak - that's probably because that's the point of an egg on SoonDubu. However, if you request your SoonDuBu SPICY, it's not only spicy, but stronger flavor of broth + even dropping an egg doesn't weaken its strong SoonDubu flavor that I like. My go-to SoonDubu is GopChang (intestine) and I never had a problem with Musiro serving intestines that's in bad condition. I have tried their Mixed, Kimchi, Ramen, and more version of SoonDubu, which are good - GopChang is fixed. I do change it up and get different SoonDuBu here and there. I also like their summer seasonal noodles - strong flavor, tangy noodles, great! One of the downside is that Musiro does not offer the fish that are usually complimentary at most of SoonDubu spots as well as two other SDB restaurants in the area. Side dishes are in rotation, but I do not know when they rotate - if it's weekly, monthly, biweekly, etc. Musiro is the oldest and longest SoonDuBu spot in Carrollton that I am aware of. Although, I am mainly talking about their SoonDubu, they have variety of other Korean food options - I'd recommend their cold noodles (during summer seasonal), GalBiTang (I think it's called Rib Soup on the menu; if the broth is too salty for your liking, I would just ask them for hot water you can add), and oh, Korean Pancakes - Seafood! You can try other ones and let me know, haha. I'm only recommending those because I tried multiple times. Great homey service on a lazy Saturday mid-afternoon, humid from the weight of dark clouds bulging with impeding downpour. The lady serving us gave me major aunt vibes, sweet but also no-nonsense. There is something different about the soup that makes it among the best I've tasted. It is far greater than the sum of its ingredients. The octopus was also tasty--not too salty, not too sweet, not too spicy to keep me from reaching for more. It was a little unapologetically overcooked (by Italian standards) but honestly so. (It would've been that texture from my kitchen, too, which is proof enough to me that no strange cover-up bs magic lives here!) This place is like my second home in Dallas. Everytime I go back to visit, I ALWAYS end up here without fail. What I love the most about this place is the thickness of their sundubu. A lot of other places that I've been too never have the right tofu to soup consistency, but this place gets it right. Whenever my soup arrives, all I can see it tofu and the fillings which is a good sign to me. My favorite that I get every time is the Seafood Tofu soup, which is a hearty soup containing shrimp, egg squid, clams, and of course, tofu. When I'm not in the mood for soup, I usually get their grilled squid, which is DELICIOUS. It always comes out piping hot and the servers cut it right in front of you. The banchan at this place is also pretty good. I've noticed that they usually switch out some items, but they usually have seaweed, kimchi, fish cakes, bean sprouts, and japchae. There is a bit of a language barrier at this place sometimes as I do not speak Korean, however the servers are very helpful and I've never had any significant issues. One of my favorite tofu soup places!! We orders the tofu soup and bulgogi combo for $20. The tofu is so soft and the soup comes out boiling hot so you can crack your egg into it if you choose to. Been walking by this place every weekend for the last year and never tried it out. I will say I definitely should have tried it sooner. It was good. The restaurant is pretty big and all the tables have their own private room. The menu is pretty extensive and it seems like the soondooboo is one of their specialties - I got the oyster one and was pleased with the result. Their banchan is plenty as well; they included odeng and japchae so I was a happy camper. The mackerall they gave us was a huuuuuuuge piece and it was delicious. The first time I came here was a couple of years ago and I walked in about 30 minutes before they closed. Even though we were the last ones in the still were very patient with us and even told us to not rush our meal. Today I came back after not coming for awhile because Carrollton is quite far from my house. They have made many improvements that made their great food even better! I wish I could say that Musiro is the place to go for reliable Korean classics, but I'd be lying. I've been here a few times now and while no visit has been memorable in an overwhelmingly positive way, my last visit was definitely memorable in a bad way. It was during the holidays so to be fair, they were slammed, but service was barely passable and so was the food. My parents and I ordered the gamjatang (potato pork stew), tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), and hot stone bibimbap. The tteokbokki is atrocious--it's really not that difficult to make good tteokbokki so I'm confused on how the only thing I tasted was soy sauce. Blech. The gamjatang was probably the best flavor wise, but my dad only had one measly piece of meat in the entire thing. Bibimbap is pretty difficult to screw up, so it was decent, but it tasted a tad bit dry and underseasoned. Side dishes were fine. I don't live in the area but my parents do, and my dad was so disappointed by this visit that although he had been here over 20 times in the past, that this visit would probably be his last. read more
