I visited couple years ago with two electric guitar amp (fender and line6, both tube model) and 2 keyboard (pc-88 & yamaha motif 88). He fixed it really well. Reasonable price and great service. AVOID! RIPOFF! SCAMMER!! Not only did it take weeks for this dude to repond to me after I dropped off an amp to repair, he also just went ahead and did the work without even providing an assessment of what the issue was nor esimtate for parts and labor to repair! He just finally called me one day and told me that the "good" news was that he had fixed the issue but the "bad" news was that he had a bunch of hours into the amp to find the problem which he stated was due to some bad capacitors and also two pre-amp tubes all of which he replaced. He wanted $300 for the repair. What he didn't realize was that I had just retubed the entire amp with new tubes purchased directly from the manufacturer and had tested them out sucessfully before I dropped the amp off to ensure that wasn't the root cause of the issue I was having. I also babied the thing in transit. When I mentioned this to him on the call he acted surprised and said he would knock it down to $285 and not charge me for the new tubes he installed. So when I arrived to pick up the amp first of all he had some heavy PA sitting on top of it. I asked him again which tubes went bad and he got all flustered and told me he couldnt recall exactly as he was writing up the bill of service. I also asked him if he had the two tubes that went bad so I could return them to the manufacturer and he said no. Then he came back with a bill for $300! To which I told him I thought it was $285 and he said yeah but he had to add tax. That said the amp does appear to be working (for now).....but we'll see. The bottom line is this dude is an untrustworth piece of sh*t!!! Be forwarned.....use ANYONE other than this guy!! read more

Rusty is the best. He can fix esoteric "antique" MIDI gear that nobody else would even look at. His prices are so fair, I almost feel guilty paying so little. I don't expect rush jobs, and always give him two weeks, but he's never failed to come through. Old world electronic craftsmanship! He repaired my FATAR 88-key keyboard last month, and this past week took on a Yamaha WX-7 woodwind controller that's probably been out of production for two decades. Sweetwater Music sent me to this repair shop. Waste of gas no parking. When I dropped off the Yamaha monitor was first was told the speaker was blown it wasn't then Yamaha sent him the wrong parts then it was bad solder points I'm not sure he had a clue anyway monitor failed again same problem again a waste of my time a 900 dollar paper weight under warranty that I guess Yamaha or Sweetwater Music paid him to repair Highly recommend not using there service. I bought a new Mesa Boogie, and it started cutting out. I had heard of Rusty from a guitarist friend of mine, and he also showed up as a Mesa authorized repair specialist. Since it was an intermittent problem, Rusty needed some time to find the problem....but he found it, fixed it, then carried the amp to my car for me as I had hip surgery. This is going back a ways but I figured I'd post since I'll probably be going to MES for something this week. Back in the 1990s I bought an Ensoniq ESQ1. It had some dead keys, a couple scratchy sliders, and needed the internal battery replaced. I asked around some music stores and they pointed me to MES. MES repaired everything within a week and for a price so low I was almost embarrassed to pay it. What a superb service! Now... I just bought an old Maestro phase shifter (PS-1b) to get the right sound for old Rush songs - and it needs some work. I know where to bring it and know that he'll get it up an running for a reasonable price... stay tuned. read more

I recently purchased a Yamaha p-125 digital piano (from Amazon). As soon as I took it out of the box, I noticed that one of the keys would not depress and another key was very hard to depress. I called Yamaha to see if there was a quick fix that I could apply, but there wasn't. They gave me the option of replacing it or having it repaired at a local repair shop. I opted for the latter and they referred to me Musician's Electronic Service (MES), the nearest technician who could fix the problem. I called MES on a Tuesday, explained the problem, and asked about the time it would take to fix. I was told that it was conceivable that if I dropped the piano off on Wednesday that it could be done by Thursday, so long as no parts had to be ordered. As it turns out, I dropped the piano off around noon on Wednesday and it was fixed by 3 p.m. that same day. The service was exceptional and the piano works perfectly. read more

Rusty solved a really weird problem I had with a tube guitar amp. Without going in to details, it was a problem I'd never had in almost 25 years of playing tube amps. He knows what he's doing. I recently brought my amp in for repair. It was a newer Fender, so it did take some time to get the appropriate parts from them, but that is understandable. He did an excellent job, was fair and super easy to communicate with. Despite the wait , picked up the phone everytime i called and kept me posted on the progress. Its nice to know that I have a tech like this somewhat close by. i won't hesitate to bring my amps or pedals here in the future. read more

It took me a long time to find a great amp tech. Rusty is AMAZING. Quick turnaround time, very reasonable prices and gets the job done every single time. So far he has successfully fixed 3 of my amps and modded one. I found a schematic online, showed it to Rusty, and he said, no problem, that's easy. If anything ever breaks down again, I will not take it anywhere else. I have gone through too many awful techs. Some charged 10x the amount that Rusty does, and would not even fix the problem.
