I've been searching for a new guitar for months. I went to this store because they had an exact model of what I was looking for. The gentleman running the counter seemed generally annoyed that I was there and wanted to take the guitar for a test ride before I spent 1000 dollars on it. Every time I stopped playing for a second he would say "So what do you think" sort of like it was a conversation ender. I played for total of 5 minutes was in the store for 10 to 15 minutes. We said maybe two words to each other, normally that wouldn't bother me, but the store is small and it's pretty awkward to not speak in that situation. And for the record I'm generally an easy guy to talk to who tried to initiate conversation (Former Bartender). I will say some kids came in when I was about to leave and he was very friendly to them. What a great "find" this store was today! We had a family day, and went to Narberth for lunch & a movie. Getting through lunch early & with time to kill we decided to take a stroll through downtown Narberth, when we happened upon "Danny's" This was truly a great find! Danny's opened it's doors pretty recently, but you would never know it! Lot's of exceptional stringed instruments at price points that are surprisingly fair! I'm a former bassist and my son is a new guitar player, so it is not uncommon for us to stop by the "big box" stores, and in most cases we leave with more questions than answers. When purchasing my son's first instrument, at a big box store,it took way too long to find one that he REALLY liked, at a price that I could deal with. It was all the same stuff, with nothing interersting unless you had just won the lottery! Not the case here! Both son & I fell in love immediately! More important, we had the chance to chat with Danny, who is truly an expert, as he has been involved in the business on a different level for most of his working life! He is also a musician who knows the difference, and unlike the people in box stores, is willing to opine. This personal service is very appreciated, as you just dont get it in the box stores. The store is very neat, clean and comfortable, lots of eye candy on the walls. Guitars,great gifts and guitar related stuff that music people like. Cool stuff that is very giftable. The bottom line here is: We walked out with two new guitars and have no regrets or remorse. This will be the place we will go whenever we need a fix (or not!)!! Danny's ROCKS!! I stopped here on a whim while in the area recently. Small guitar shops are always intriguing to me so when I yelp'd nearby shops and Danny's popped up, I knew I had to check it out. It was a cool/rainy Saturday afternoon. There was an nice number of customers/passerby-types like myself in chatting and checking out inventory. Danny was behind the counter shooting the breeze with folks and he engaged me when he was able to do so. Very friendly and professional individual... I am visiting the area from SoCal but I would recommend stopping through to check the shop out if you're looking for a pleasantly quaint small box guitar/music shop. read more

Ukuleles are the underdog of the stringed instrument world, but I've wanted one for awhile, especially since tiny girls with long-time musical aspirations really can't play cello without looking overwhelmed, and piano and violin are SO stereotypical. So ukulele it was, especially since a wise friend thought I'd pick it up much easier than guitar or bass. So. I was super concerned about paying too much for a POS instrument, so I had the same wise friend price me out some ukes, and I google-found my way to Danny's Guitar Shop. It's an incredibly un-intimidating store crammed with musical instruments everywhere, so be sure not to trip as you sheepishly creep in trying to look like you know what you're doing. At the time, Danny himself greeted me hello but he was busy chattin' up guitars with another guy, so I poked around myself and found the ukes in the corner. After awhile, Danny came over to give me a quick, non-condescending rundown of the ukes he had. After I admitted I was a beginner who didn't want to spend a lot of cash, he asked me for my price range and then recommended me a handful of ukes I could afford, all priced similarly to what my friend had seen in other places. No pressure to buy on the spot though -- he gave me some alone time to get comfortable with the ukes he'd taken off the shelf, saying, "It's gotta feel right in your hands." Aww. I had worried that I was going to leave feeling royally uncomfortable with an expensive ukulele, but a) I LOVE my concert ukulele and it didn't hurt my wallet at all, and b) Danny made the whole experience so down-to-earth and pleasant that I have no regrets about my purchase. I was looking for a guitar shop I could bring my new acoustic to be set up. I emailed the shop and Dan got back to me very quickly. The shop is great and Dan could not have been nicer and more helpful. He restrung my guitar and made a truss rod adjustment. My guitar feels and sounds great. So nice to have such a cool place nearby, I highly recommend you give the shop a visit! read more

Danny's is a great little shop. Danny himself is very approachable and willing to make recommendations or just let you hang out to try out the instruments. His selection is good, and you should be able to find something in your price range. You might be able to find cheaper guitars off the Main Line, but Danny's makes up for it with personal service and the laid back atmosphere. Plus, you are supporting a very awesome small business with your purchases. Danny also offers lessons for children and adults if you're interested. I believe there is a private parking lot in the back, and Narberth usually has some street parking. read more

Was just back in town for Thanksgiving and after getting a recommendation from a friend, very happy I didn't head to Guitar Center. Not only did Danny help me out last minute, it was a pleasure chatting with him about the music scene in Philly and since he also plays bass with a band, rock music in general. Btw, Narberth itself is a bit of a throwback in its own right. Independent stores with great places to eat and drink all within a few blocks. Danny's Guitar Shop is a great place to get not just guitars, but bass guitars, ukuleles, tuners, picks, strings, and more. It also offers guitar, bass, ukulele, and vocal lessons at a reasonable price. Even if you're not looking to buy anything, it's a good place to sell your used instruments and amplifiers. Last but not least, the owner, Danny Gold, is an incredibly kind, funny, and personable guy who knows everything there is to know about what he sells. The teachers are very knowledgeable and kind as well. After reading the great reviews I decided to drive all the way from NY to Narberth, PA with my friend to check out Danny's shop. My friend lives in Elkins Park, PA. She has a vintage Harmony Bass guitar. Danny, the owner works in the shop. He greeted us as soon as we came in and it was a one man show from start to finish. He assisted us in finding her a new amp, guitar strings, and pick. My friend didn't have a case for her guitar and Danny gave her one his promotional cases for free as well as some cleaning solution. Danny's is the kind of guitar shop--local, personal, relaxed--that is sadly disappearing. Danny is friendly, knowledgeable and attentive without the smothering presence too often found in the giant Guitar chains or franchises. Interesting instruments are on display and available, of course, and a bonus is the relaxed conversation and attention from Danny and music teachers. Great repairs from another terrific person, Steve Johnson, are available at Danny's, too. This is a great little shop, though I've only visited and not bought anything. The owner is friendly and knows his stuff. I am not a pro by any means, but I could appreciate that the shop has a range of stuff for the beginner to the experienced. The collection of guitars is what I would call "very interesting", meaning they were just the things that interest me and could have occupied me for quite a while had I the time to play them all. One used Gibson caught me eye and I was surprised how reasonable the price was - and confirmed it was very reasonable afterwards by watching a few eBay auctions and the Guitar Center used list. I live in Narberth, and about a week before school let out last summer, I heard a friend talking about the "new guitar store" in Narberth. Curious, I rode my bike down after school one day to find a store beyond my imagination. Over the summer, I visited Danny (the owner and only employee of the shop) almost every day, and developed a strong bond with him. I now teach ukulele there, and stop by when I can on weekends hoping for a job! Danny is a great guy, and he runs an even better store.
