These guys are the best. My Epi Les Paul fell and the headstock snapped off. Chris was able to repair it (for half the cost I was quoted elsewhere) and my guitar is good as new. So thankful for Dipinto & Chris for doing such a great job. read more

I love this store, one of the last few music stores in the city. First off they stock the best stuff. Their in store stuff is great. Even if you just need some picks. Also just a real friendly staff. No "music store vibe" here. They just want you to go play music and help you do that. Great tec team. Brought them some curve balls and they hit it out the park. Totally willing to send me other places if they could not help. And always good with suggestions as to where to go. And the in house stuff they make is crazy town. So many fun and smart guitars. So during the Covid shutdown I decided to build a kit guitar. I could not get it to play right. I took it to Chris Dipinto to do a set up. I needed a fret level, nut adjustment, and he had to modify the pickup cover so that the pickup would be high enough. The end result is a guitar that feels and sounds killer. There are several Musicians that sport DiPinto guitars, the crazy instrumental surf rock group "Los Straitjackets" , and Jack White to name a few. I can totally understand why. DiPinto guitars are a beauty to the eye, and they play really nice. My friend let me borrow his DiPinto Mach IV for a little while. It had quite the sound. I've only been to the newer location on Girard to pick up strings once. Besides their wide assortment of awesome custom guitars, they had some vintage guitars too. There was also a bunch of used tube amps for sale, and they had this cool organ. I was just looking around and the guy behind the counter was totally cool. He asked me if I wanted to play anything on the wall while I was looking around. He let me plug in, and try a few guitars. Can't say enough good things about Dipinto. They did a wonderful job setting up my old Epiphone Sheraton II, and worked with me to get all the gear I needed without breaking my budget. For a place that works with some big names, it's great to know they treat everyone the same. Bought an old 1970s solid state Ampeg guitar amp, and even though it was a pretty cheap item, Chris switched out the speaker to make sure I was happy with the sound before walking out the door. read more

Dipinto guitars is head and shoulders above the "guitar center- Sam ASH" corporate scene. Great: guitar and bass setups, a rotating vintage amp and instrument, that rivals any music specialty store, and a friendly knowledge - able staff. Also, they make guitars that are priced for a working musician. (Check out the belvedere) The only down side is parking, expect to park a few blocks away, if you have a heavy amp, double park out front , but keep an eye out for the parking authority. Can't speak any more highly of this place. After already having had fantastic service in the past, on the day of a show everything went wrong; my guitar neck snapped and my roommates hardware in his pickups started shorting out. Not only were the folks at Dipinto extremely friendly and understanding, they also fixed the wiring for the pickups in a matter of minutes and I was able to purchase a replacement guitar on the fly for a mere $75. Brought my old 76' ibanez in there to have it set up, they got it done in 5 days, new strings, and even fixed the tone pot. Brian and the guys are always helpful and although I moved out of Fishtown, I'll keep going back there. read more

They are definitely professional - compare to many other guitar stores in the area. Plus they have their own line of instruments, I guess that makes them even more unique. They are quite friendly people too. The good: I had a custom pickguard made by DiPinto, basically perfect, no complain. The price is just a LITTLE high, but I can appreciate it since it's custom made. The time it took was a little long too, about 2~3 weeks. The bad: I believe pick up installation is 30 dollars per pick up. Although that might not sound very expensive, I found a couple of other guitar workshops in the area that would do it for a lower price... I also asked for some simple guitar work, such as bridge installation (Literally drilling 4 holes on the guitar body), and that would cost $70. The guitar tech tried to justify the price with his own reasons, but I think it was pretty much him trying to make money. I called another place and bridge installation was only 30 dollars. I think the price is the only thing that is bad, so I give DiPinto a 4 star. read more

I had a guitar pedal that was giving me off-and-on again trouble, wreaking havoc at rehearsal and even at a show (yikes!). I dropped it off at DiPinto, but didn't think to mention I had a show coming up quick. When I called to check, they took care of it that day! The guys in the front are nice and helpful but never go to them for repair services. They left the hardware loose in my amp head and did work so poor in the interior that it meant I had to go to another amp shop. This was not just to correct their repairs, but to fix other issues that occurred as a result of their shoddy work. They charge the standard amount but use low quality parts, and they take advantage of people who don't know any better. For example, they took my vintage tubes out of my amp and kept them for themselves. At the time it was explained to me that they were the root cause of my amp not powering up all of the time, but after getting a second opinion I learned that the capacitors were the issue. I obviously didn't know the value of the original tubes and was shocked to find out their worth when I did. So yeah, buying stuff from the front of the house is fine. I have no qualms with those guys. However, and I can't stress it any further, please go elsewhere for any and all equipment repairs. read more

Amazingly knowledgeable, skilled, helpful, and reasonable. I have had them setup a uke I bought elsewhere and repair another one. They seriously transformed the ukes! I am about to take another one in because Chris and his staff made my cheap one sound better than my most expensive one...so time to take that one in, too! Those guys are awesome. read more

I have brought quite a few bass's here to get serviced. They always do great work for fair prices. Strings and accessories are also reasonably priced. Another great feature is they always have a few pedals up front for sale. There are usually a few by a company called mountain king. I think he may know some of the people who work there. Anyway, they are some of the best fuzz pedals that I have played through. Pricey, but worth every penny. read more

Their guitars are popular with the surf-rock crowd (myself included), and are geared towards people who want a guitar that's a little more interesting-looking than the standard Les Paul.
