I am a professional jazz pianist, and I had a grand for 25 years that has seen the last days of it's life. I had been on the lookout for my dream piano, a Steinway B, and thought it wasn't doable. Then a friend from NYC recommended I connect with Piotr in Philedelphia. I was very nervous about a piano purchase from Philly, as I am in Boston. I had to play it to see if I loved it, because it's a life investment. Piotr told me what was done to this Steinway A3. Pin block ten years old, strings 10 years, and the rest fully restored by him, using genuine Steinway parts. Well, I said what if I don't connect with it? Your gonna take it back? He said yes, so I agreed. He drove here, set it up, I played it for hours, and then said I loved it. He took my K Kawai in trade, and there you have it. He fully guaranteed it his work. Don't know what drives this person, but he is quality like I've NEVER seen. I could not recommend Piotr and Opus piano more. Go there! Only there! They are old world quality, and connection. It doesn't exist anymore, yet, I was lucky enough to find them. Now I have my last and final piano. My Steinway A3, not a B but just as good in my opinion... All of them are so beautiful that the biggest problem for me was to choose one that fits me the most. Finally, I chose Hamburg Steinway-O, 1922, absolutely amazing, in a great shape. Remarkable. Hands down the best piano restoration store I have ever been to. Both Tomasz Walski and Peter Salwinski are very helpful and sincere. They will talk to you with great enthusiasm about their pianos and the traditional craftsmanship and cutting edge technology utilized in restoring unique Steinway models to pristine condition. Also I guess it doesn't hurt for them to be selling some of the best and most rare Steinway pianos from the golden age of Steinway pianos in the 1920s to recently made instruments. While the focus is on selling mostly hand-built, restored American- and German-made Steinways at reduced prices, they also offer tuning and restoration services, as well as piano lessons. Tomasz is the best piano tutor we could have hoped for our son. He's a straight-forward, honest classical pianist and an expert piano tutor with a master's degree in piano performance from Temple University. Last but not the least, I feel that they really care about their customers. Highly recommended, and if you are in the market for a piano and are in the area, you must at least give this store a look. read more

If you are adventurous and are willing to travel outside of New York City , you very well may find a gem waiting for you at this small lovely piano shop. On a strict budget, I looked outside of my immediate area and found Opus through a piano technician's recommendation. Shopping for a high end restaurant in manhattan, the piano not only had to be a fine instrument but also had to look spectacular as well. By chance , Opus had a very fine 1920's Steinway 'O' rebuild that not only sounded wonderfully elegant and beautiful, but also looked amazing . The price was in budget and because it was out of state there was no tax! Another plus! There is a very fine rebuilder in New York City, but due the economics in New York, that particular rebuilder was out of my reach financially with the budget I was working with. Opus had this very top level piano at a substantially lower price. It was well worth the trip to visit them. I am very happy with my purchase as is the restaurant I shopped for. I am an extremely discerning musician regarding my taste in pianos. If you are nearby or considering a piano from afar, I recommend calling Opus. My experience was very good. The piano now has been in use for two months and is surprising in that it holds it's tune magnificently. And that's with heavy use. ( 43 hours a week) . It's rock solid. My advice is to not settle . Shop around and find the piano of your dreams. But do check out Opus. It just might have what you are looking for ! It certainly solved our piano search . A wonderful instrument . read more
