I purchased a Yamaha MODX6+ from Music Village USA and was disappointed--the keyboard felt cheap and the tone was underwhelming. I returned it after three days and about two hours of use. Despite minimal use and the box already being opened (likely to include the receipt), I was charged a $348.16 restocking fee. That's excessive. I won't shop with Music Village USA again and recommend others look for retailers with better customer service and return policies. read more

I pulled into this parking lot yesterday at 2:30 in the afternoon and noticed the signs on both doors that ask you to wear a mask I complied and walked in to two employees who did not have masks on I was asked by one employee if he could help me find something I stated that I was looking for headphones and proceeded over to the headphone case After waiting several minutes with nobody coming to help me I walked around the store I went into the guitar room behind the counter where the two men were continuing to do whatever they were doing before I got there I looked at mixing boards I looked at guitars I looked at basses I literally walked the entire store I was interested in a couple of other items at this point other than the two pair of headphones I was prepared to BUY With no one assisting me I walked out the door I walked in as a DEFINITE purchase and if customer service would have been better was prepared to spend MORE money I have walked into music stores wanting something simple and have left with thousands of dollars worth of stuff I have a studio with top of the line stuff in it MONEY was not an object The two items I was looking at were the Schechter two-tone guitar and the LTD flying V that says please do not touch Amazing that I took the time to be on the other side of the store from the headphone case to go look at those and nobody helped me NOTICE THESE WORDS AGAIN Prepared to BUY Business 101 lesson The customer in front of you is the most important thing not the boxes of guitars you are boxing up I will not be returning to the store and will ward off others if this is the customer service that I received wanting $400 worth of headphones Sorry to be so harsh but I was THE ONLY PERSON in the store read more

The Hohner Bluesband Harmonica 3 pack I received from Music Village were artificial instruments with no tonality or playability whatsoever. The scale cannot be run and some holes had no tone at all. When I called Music Village to report these conditions and request a return and refund, I was told that no returns were accepted for refund; and that if the instruments were no good, I should contact Hohner, which is in Germany. My advice is: don't buy knock-offs from Music Village U S A. read more

I purchased a Cole Clark Angel 2 Sunburst. Heath ordered the guitar and kept me up to date on the status of the shipment from the manufacture to his store. He asked if would be OK to keep the instrument for a few days to let it acclimate before his Tech set it up. No problem and after a few days his Tech set up the guitar and it was shipped. Upon receipt I found it to be well packaged, set up was spot on and I'd recommend this store to anyone. Heath is easy to work with. read more

He did a very quality job and much better than what Guitar Center has done for me at an equally reasonable price. He is certified, very friendly and has my recommendation. I had a broken down synth that was in bad shape, they took painstaking care to get it back to 100%

I brought in a vintage tube amp that needed to be re-capped. They happily took it in for repair. I didn't need the amp, so I was in no rush. After a month or so, I called in to see when it would be ready. They told me that they because of a battle of the bands, they hadn't gotten to it. I thought it was odd to be told that I just wasn't a priority, but whatever. The next time, they told me it was taking so long because they were having trouble finding vintage parts. When they'd had it a YEAR, I called and said I wanted to get it back. I was just going to take it to a shop in Memphis that only works on vintage gear. They told me, with a straight face, that they work on just as much vintage gear as that shop. In Memphis. That only works on vintage gear. Suddenly, they could get it fixed much faster. Two weeks, tops. I said I wanted it back. This was an infuriating 20 minute conversation with the repair tech, who it turns out is also the manager. They pushed back so much that I had to explain that they had my property and I was coming down there to get it back. I seriously started to wonder if I needed to call the police. When I got my amp--which they'd had for a YEAR--it hadn't even been touched. Do not take your gear here for repair. read more

This place seems like the main portion of the store has been under renovation for months. You have to use the side "lessons and repairs" entrance to get in. Since their space is a tad cramped right now due to the renovation, their selection of instruments is pretty skimpy. A couple violins, a few guitars, and a smattering of ukuleles is about all I saw after winding my way through all their practice rooms. The way it's set up right now, it feels like they are mostly focused on giving lessons and/or repairing instruments rather than actually selling instruments. I'll go back and check it out again once they finish their renovations. read more

This seems like a newer place and I'm not entirely sure what market they're after, other than instructional/beginning stuff. The acoustics ran the gamut of very high end guitars, but most of what I saw overall was more entry level, lower end stuff. Selection is more on the curious side and this is the kind of place I'd have in mind to buy instruments more for also taking lessons there. Whenever I go in to a music store, I wait for the instruments to speak to me and a few of them here were pretty interesting, but none of them connected in that way. Staff is cool and it was neat to check out, but this seems still in development at this point. read more

Bought a piano here during the Music Village yearly sale that happens in November. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and provided good help. It is also one of the only places to buy Kawai digital pianos that I know about in the Ogden/Layton area. Music Village mainly sales other types of instruments as their main business model. It took them about a week and a half to get the piano in and delivered to my house (delivery included in price). As it is my first digital piano after looking at many, this one sounds and feels great. I should of asked for more details of what they do for support, but over all a good buying experience. The delivery people were kind and even came back when they realized the cord that they thought was missing was taped under the piano to get it fully working that day. Piano buying is tough and it really came down to the brand I wanted for why I shopped here. Prices also seem reasonable for what you get. read more

Music Village received my Eden bass amplifier for repair in April of 2010, almost three years later, it is still not repaired, and now they won't return my phone calls. When I go in there, I get nothing but double talk. I'm not the only one. Do not use their repair service, it's criminal. read more

TL;DR - Avoid at all costs. This place took five months to do a warranty repair on an amp, would not return phone calls, gave conflicting information, and at one point even refused to return the amplifier so I could take it somewhere else. DO NOT GO HERE FOR REPAIRS. THEY MAY NOT RETURN YOUR PROPERTY. Longer version: I took an amplifier in at the end of February for a warranty repair. I called about two weeks later to find out status and was told it was a solder joint and should be ready in another two weeks. I then called three more times over the next three months (March 15th, April 19th, and May 17th) to get an update. Every time I called the repair guy was "out" and they said he would call me back. I received no calls from them during that period. I called again June 8th and told them I was becoming concerned. It had been over three months at that point and they wouldn't return my calls or even tell me what was going on. Melissa called me back June 9th and left voicemail saying that it should be repaired in a week. They said it was a "complex repair" and they were having trouble getting a part and had to source it "somewhere else", but they had just gotten the part. Keep in mind this is for an amplifier that is still being manufactured, so presumably despite more of these rolling out of a factory every day, they couldn't get a part. In any case, they it would be done in a week. After hearing nothing for two weeks, I called on June 22nd and told them I had lost faith in this process and wanted the amp back so I could send it somewhere else. They refused. They said that it was not repaired and because it "had electricity" they wouldn't give it back "for my safety". They said they'd have the repair guy talk to me when he got back in a week and "might" return it then. Read that again: I asked them to return my property and they refused. For "my safety". They called me on June 27th and said it would be repaired in "a week or two". Now the story they're telling is that a part was back-ordered. They also insisted that they had called and left voicemail on the 18th, and the fact that my phone showed no calls or voicemail just meant that my phone provider must be wrong. I called them July 1st, and they said it would be done in a week. They then called me on July 6th and said it would be done that weekend. I waited a week, but got no call. I finally called them on July 15th and was told that they had just finished the repair. When I picked it up there was no apology, no explanation. Nothing. These people are at best incompetent, and more probably, flatly dishonest. They gave me FIVE different dates for completion and missed ALL of them. They gave wildly conflicting reports of the problem, refused to return calls, and worst of all, refused to to return my property when I asked. I actually considered involving the police to get my amplifier back. Stay away. Support local businesses that have ethics and some level of competence. read more

For our son's graduation gift we got him a five string Ibanez bass guitar. He loved it and it continues to be his go to instrument. The guys at Music Village were really helpful when he was picking it out, they know their stuff. It's always been easy to find the perfect sheet music for my piano hobby and for my little church choir to sing since they have a great variety to choose from. Great music store, would much rather go here than the other local places because they have better selection and more expertise. read more
