There is no store quite like this, that I can tell you. The participants here are all very well-seasoned musicians (their reputations speaks for itself) and this place is almost as much museum and history lesson as much as it is an instrument store. I can't even quantify exactly the visit, other than I was there a very long time and got more information, unrequested, on technique, instrument guitar manufacturers and live touring than I would ever have expected and it was a joy. Just a regular blast and if they had mugs of suds on tap, I'd probably still be there. There are some very unique instruments there. I'm extraordinarily fussy when it comes to instruments in general, and guitars especially, and acoustic guitars in specific (since I will probably only get one of those), so I didn't leave with anything, since the excellent array of what they did have (which covered nearly the entire price range gamut) didn't speak to me, but I don't regret a single second of it, even dealing with their funky parking lot. If you're on the hunt for music equipment, especially special instruments, this place is another must. Outstanding! read more

I took a Fender Telecaster in for a setup. They did a fantastic job. They straightened the neck, lowered the action, worked on the frets and installed new strings. It plays awesome. I was so impressed I took my Fender Twin Reverb amp in and they replaced and biased the power tubes and cleaned the pots. It runs really nice. They also have some nice guitars and amps for sale. The prices looked pretty good to me. If you're a musician in Davis county, save yourself a trip to SLC and check these guys out. read more

If you are looking to have your guitar balanced and set to play the best it has ever been, take it here and talk to Lynn. You will be blown away! I bring all my guitars there and they play absolutely amazing. All the guys here have tons of knowledge and you will learn many things if you talk to them. They have been around the block a few times. The other guy on here that reviewed this place that gave them one star is an obvious troll. I sent my Gretsch to Lynn at Pro Musician Outlet in Clearfield Utah for a refret. I asked him to put Dunlop 6130 Medium Jumbo frets on it. He called me a few weeks later and told me to come pick it up. He had put vintage tall thin frets on it instead. When I told him it was the wrong fretwire he replied "you can take it, or I can keep it - your choice." I took it. Now everytime I play my Gretsch I think about how big a fuckwad Lynn Wheelwright is. Also any guitar player will tell you that the feel of jumbos vs. tall thins is quite dramatic; so my playing experience is diminished. Lastly, guitars can only have two, MAYBE three refrets in their lifespan, so I can't really do anything about it. Lynn and Mark are super supportive and willing to help anyone from beginner to expert. Lynn motivated me to try guitar again although I was convinced it was too complicated for me. After playing the saxophone 30+ years, many live performances including with and for some very big names plus studio recording for a very successful metal band (yes, METAL, who would've thought?) my level of musical fulfillment has never been greater than it has been while learning and playing the guitar over the past 2 months.
