She was also a great emcee and kept everything running smoothly. You could tell she put a lot of time and energy into making the playlists. If you need your party to rock, you need Soul Clap to spin the music…read more I had the pleasure of seeing them in action two days in a row this week: on Thursday at The Moxie Agency party and again last night at Boston Yelp's Old Skool Prom: http://www.yelp.com/biz/old-skool-prom---yelp-style-whiskey-park-boston The vibe of these two events was decidedly different - the first a swank party in a penthouse loft, the next for a group of bedecked and bejeweled prom-goers in a hotel lounge - showing off the versatility of Soul Clap's repertoire. If the music these guys spin doesn't make you want to dance with somebody (with somebody who loves you. . .) I'd be shocked.

As far as I'm concerned, Soul Clap is one of the best things to come out of Boston's DJ/music scene…read morein quite some time. Creating great music is all about tuning in to the energy of the people listening--a talent that Soul Clap has successfully mastered. Versatility can sometimes be difficult for other DJ's. Most stick to one type of music genre, venue and crowd. Soul Clap is a splendid exception to this rule. I have heard Charlie and Eli bring back the 90's at Redline-- inspiring grown men and women to break out their old school dance moves (I even revived my rusty running man and roger rabbit)... I've seen them create music at a posh Moet event-- getting even the most timid attendees to clap their hands, tap their feet and bust a move... And let's not forget the cult-like hipster-filled(yeah I know we all hate the word hipster, but deal with it) following they created with Dancing on the Charles. Whether they're spinning in a nightclub, a bar, a fashion boutique, a swanky hotel or a dingy American Legion hall, their music is always unique, crowd-pleasing and one hell of a good time. I could write a book about this company and it would be hard to believe that it was non fiction…read morebecause of all the amazing and positive comments that would be on the pages and pages contained within. Started with a simple call with Barry (Principal) about a year out and he told us he personally was available on the night of our wedding. Barry is a firecracker and the energy within him is contagious. He talked about all the things that set him apart from other event companies in the Boston area. Highest of materials from Germany on his uplighting and his pin lights. Talked about the white dance floor he has and what makes it different than others. We got a price from him and told him we would get back to him. Over the next week, we reached out to a few other event companies and al a carte service providers and realized at the end of the day Barry was the way to go with one of his packages!! As soon as we were under contract with him with received a very comprehensive package to start crafting our event to be what we wanted as much as using the techniques Barry knows work.... Occasionally we got texts from Barry checking in and calls just to get to know us. He wanted to know who he was going to be representing on our special night and we loved this part of Barry. He truly cares about the people he works with and the behind the scenes work he does for an event is unbelievable. About a week before the event we had a zoom call with our event planner and Barry Tobin out the details, go over name pronunciations and song edits for first dance, spotlight dances and grand entrances. Barry wasn't checking his watch because a meeting that was supposed to be one hour was over 2 hours and left everyone ready for the day!! Barry also informed us he personally went to the venue ahead of this meeting to get a feel for the room.... It showed the day of!! Now we fast forward to the wedding day.... The venue (Danversport) gave an unrealistic get ready time for the vendors involved in this event. Barry brought his team in at pre 8am to lay the dance floor down knowing he wasn't going to have the needed time with only 1.5 hours of setup that Danversport was allowing per contract. I got videos from Barry pulling up to the venue on a bright and sunny day as he wasn't getting himself and his team ready to start "building out the box."' I used this line the entire day and still because the room we had was made stunning by the uplighting, pin lights, shinny dance floor, LED DJ station and of course the work of our amazing florist (separate review). The room was transformed and it was amazing to see the amount of people on Barry's team running around in PTE shirts setting up outside drones, video for the ceremony, Lav mics for the ceremony and music for the cocktail hour. It was unbelievable!!!! My guests are STILL talking about this wedding and we owe a major thank you to Barry and the team at PTE. The lighting was stunning in this room and it really did transform the venue from very nice to stunning!!!

The band was FANTASTIC, their playlist is amazing (like 300 songs - we found tons to request), they got the mood just right with quieter songs for the social hour and - after dinner - transitioned our party to a raucous, joyous, pull-out-all-the-stops dance celebration. The 3-piece horn section was amazing, the 2 singers were fantastic, and they kept the place rocking until the very last song. Our kids took over 1/2 the dance floor while the "old folks" commandeered the other half and it stayed packed all night, song-after-song. There was never that moment where everyone loses steam and sits down. As the night went on, even the single guys felt compelled to come out and join the fun. Months later, whenever the subject of our party comes up, we STILL get complements about the band. I can say in all honestly that they MADE the event!
