Extremely unprofessional sales tactics and poor communication. Working with this management team, Mike Amado especially, was a frustrating experience from start to finish. We experienced high-pressure sales tactics early on--including an absolute refusal to shift a consultation meeting by even 24 hours so both my fiancé and I could attend. We were told that if we didn't lock in immediately, someone else would take the date at a higher rate. We were repeatedly pressured with claims that we'd "never find a band for this price" and told we had to sign within a day or two. The most concerning part was what came next: after all that intense pressure to commit immediately, communication completely stopped. They went radio silent for three full months without a single follow-up. Given the total lack of professional communication and the aggressive tactics, we assumed the band was unavailable and booked our entertainment elsewhere. Event planning is stressful enough without having to deal with high-pressure sales followed by months of ghosting. I would strongly advise prospective clients to look elsewhere. read more

We hired Entertainment Specialists for a photobooth at our wedding and a jazz trio at our welcome party. They were incredibly responsive and professional during the planning process, which made the process seamless! I highly recommend the photobooth especially because our guests loved it! My Daughter used Entertainment Specialists and hired Natalie Joly for her Wedding. She is incredibly talented. She plays guitar and piano, sings beautifully, and provided the perfect DJ services for the reception. Excellent to work with, from start to finish. Steve Manning was personable, professional, and made the party lively with music. Our wedding was originally delayed from its original date in October 2020 due to the COVID pandemic. Entertainment Specialists worked with us to ensure that we could have the day that we wanted with a priority of safety. Communication leading up to the day was great. Steve took the time to speak with both me and my Mom on many occasions. He really has a positive spirit and energy. On the day of, Steve was over two hours early to set up at the venue and played nice instrumental music as we took photos and guests were arriving. The audio equipment was perfect for an outdoor wedding. Steve helped us minimize external noise (the T passing by Kendall Square!) during our vows. The music transitioned to inside the Glass House and the introductions, first dance, and speeches were wonderful. Steve kept the music going all night, working his way up through the decades, even getting Bill's Grandpa swaying with the ladies on several occasions. The dance floor was lively all night with a good mix of current music, throwbacks, and even some special requests for EDM and metal at the very end of the night. Overall, a wonderful experience. If I could give zero stars I would. They seem great but PLEASE PLEASE make sure you totally understand your contract. We canceled our wedding due to the pandemic 3 months out since our guests did not feel safe. All of our vendors were more than understanding and willing to work with us since no one could have predicted a global pandemic when we were planning this. Not these guys though. They expected to receive the full payment for zero, yes ZERO work. Yes we signed the contract so I guess it's our bad but please please stay away or find a vendor that has a just an ounce of empathy and understanding. STAY AWAY. read more

If I could, I would give this company negative stars. I booked Mike Amado from entertainment specialists and was excited for him to dj at my wedding. My wedding was booked during covid, so I had to postpone. He then kept my deposit and told me I won't be getting the money back and all I can do is rebook within a year, and if I don't after that my money is still his. I haven't rebooked because I don't know when it will be safe to have the original wedding my fiancé and I wanted because of covid and it's unpredictability. He was less than understanding and BEYOND UNPROFESSIONAL. And this exact thing also happened to a coworker of mine BY THE SAME GUY. And he was referred by a mutual friend. Booking my DJ and photobooth through Entertainment Specialists was easy and straightforward! They have a huge roster of services and performances and once you make your selection, everything is all set for you. As a Korean and Chinese couple with folks coming from abroad, we knew we wanted a DJ/MC who was culturally sensitive enough to manage both sides of our family. DJ Emelita was honestly so perfect for this role and is the best at what she does. She made great music selections that had everyone having fun and we are absolutely NOT a dancing crowd. I was able to send her some music in our languages and she seamlessly integrated it into the night. I loved her attention to detail and her energy was contagious throughout the night. I was really grateful that we found her. Keith Washington was our photo booth attendant and he is literally the best one I have ever encountered. He interacted with every single one of the guests and encouraged them to have fun and use props, so it wasn't just boring photos all night. He was one of my favorite people that I interacted with all night. I am in awe of both of their passions and I would have paid more for them if you ask me to do this all over again. If you can I highly encourage you to specifically request both these professionals as they really made our wedding night! read more

I got married a year ago this weekend. I still cringed when I look at my wedding pictures and haven't looked at them again until this weekend, hoping that I would like maybe one to post. My photographer was awful. I was very laid back and expected that the "photographer" Would know how to take pics. However, the pictures were centered badly, had watermarks on them, and blurry. I asked that they be fixed but when I got them back again, the pictures still had watermarks. Some is my bridesmaids looked like they had a tattoo imprinted on their arms but it was the watermarks on the pictures. These guys were amazing! The photo booth was a surprise from my parents and they coordinated with my mother and the venue to ensure that is stayed a surprise till the reception! Ensuring the surprise led to more work for them as they were unable to set up early incase they were spotted! The props they brought were all in perfect condition. The workers were incredibly personable and kept the guests laughing and the booth full all night! They went above and beyond by supplying us with the digital images after the fact. read more

People were going sick. I should have known when he showed up with the 1200s he would be a pretty legit wedding DJ. He actually mixed the music instead of just playing tracks back to back and at a couple points was scratching over the music in a very tasteful way, it was totally sweet. He played a great selection of music and had an excellent feel for what would work and what wouldn't. I'd recommend him to anyone interested in dancing instead of a night of parading out tired gimmicky songs. read more

Entertainment Specialists was a preferred vendor for our wedding venue. At first we had trouble reaching the correct people, but after I met Mike Amato at a bridal show and let him know our issues he made it a point to reach out and make sure we were taken care of. We used Mike as our DJ for our wedding. He was super friendly and the music was great! He was able to incorporate parts of three songs for our first dance as well as play a wide range of music for our guests. There was rarely a minute when the dance floor was not packed. We went to the Entertainment Specialist Event at Patriot Place, we got to see all of the bands and DJs they have to offer. We loved them all but Ron Furr especially stuck out to us, we knew he would fit our crowd! We picked our first dance, parents dance and intro and told Ron the rest was in his hands, we liked his taste and knew he'd do a great job. Terrible experience trying to book our wedding band through this company. We spoke with them about a specific band on Sunday. The band had sent a contract out to another client but it was way past due, so the company told us if the other client did not put down the deposit by the next morning we could put down a deposit and have the band for that date. I called the next morning, gave my credit card information, and was told we were all set, they would send the contract in the mail. We were very excited to have a great band booked. Then, five days later I get a call from the managers saying they had some alternate bands for us to choose from for our date. Very confused, I told them we already had a deposit down on a band. He told us they never processed our deposit and that the band was busy. In five days, no one had informed us of this fact. I was very upset, having gone almost a week thinking we had the band booked, telling our friends about it and getting excited. The manager was extremely rude, completely unapologetic, and denied ever saying we had the band booked. I lost all trust with them and would definitely not try booking another band through this company. They may be great if you already have a contract with them, but if you are just starting to look, communication, organization, and RESPECT are not their strong suits. read more

No gripe about the DJ company itself, but rather the DJ we unfortunately booked for our wedding day - DJ John Fernandes with Entertainment Specialists. We met with John 3 weeks before our wedding at Friday's -he was 45 minutes late and had a couple of mojitos during our meeting..we paid the bill. On our wedding day, he introduced me to our 180 guests by the wrong name (that didn't go over very well). In addition, he played the wrong song TWICE for my husband's dance with his mother. It wasn't until I ran across the dancefloor to the DJ table and told him they were the wrong songs that he actually noticed - even though I provided a CD for him with EVERY song we asked him to play! While standing at the DJ table, I noticed his ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE right beside his equipment. Pretty sure it's not ok to drink on the job. He also forgot to give away our centerpieces (even though we strategically decided how we would give them away to guests). Overall, the music was ok, but I had to ask him to stop playing all 80's songs and to please play something current. I think if he wasn't drinking and took more time to organize himself, he may not have been so bad! read more
